errrr private servers arent illegal lol
No Private servers themselves aren’t Illegal but when you use another companies intellectual property/Games etc etc without their consent and they send you a cease and desist and you ignore that you open yourself up to copyright infringement aswell as theft of intellectual property which are both clearly crimes.
TBC private servers were only ever popular for PVPers who wanted fast rates so they could spam arena’s all day every day so that’s the main reason it’s interested is peaked on the private server scene.
Let them play on pv- thats all they know. Nobody losses.
I”d rather pay and play 3-4months classic tbc in wich ever state there is, than log even 4 hours to that bad scripted usless servers.
I pick blizz poison to waste my time- atleast with a few fixxes will work flawless.
I doubt it’s a significant factor. As much as Im against shop, mounts etc, I think that it most likely has to do with hype spreading initialy. Some empiric arbitrary count on numbers of people online before and after doesnt say much to be honest.
The community hyping, Blizzard pumping out commercials, TBC being mentioned on forums, streams, sites is a more likely reason.
Anti-tokeners hate microtransactions so much that they vehemently defend their right to pay the company a monthly subscription which ends up costing more than the mtx in the long run.
There is an irony in there somewhere…
Also the fact that the hilarious content drought already on Retail has brought swarms of people into TBC Classic who otherwise wouldn’t have played. I’m sure that plays a big role.
They want a WoW fix with most of the trappings of Retail, and if TBC is compromised-- they don’t care do they? Those along with the many who want a TBC nostalgia ride are the culprits here.
and nobody cared
the reason why they are meaningless is that nobody sane would play on those and had they chars getting wiped every couple of months when they can play on official servers and keep their toons forver.
seems insane to me to play on non official wow servers .
- Scummy paid services
- Horrible release timing giving us only 2 weeks time to prepare new characters for TBC most likely just to encourage players to buy the boost
Both of these killed the hype for me so much that my draenei priest has been stuck at lvl 58 for a while now and I’m not feeling like playing at all. Considering how I played on Netherwing for 300-400 hours and quit instantly when they announced 50% exp bonus for summer, I would’ve already quit if this wasn’t about the authentic servers. They need to just keep all the extra sheide out of these games because none of it is good. It’s all horrible
If anything I’m just contemplating on quitting and rolling back when we get a fresh TBC server
depends on the country, for example China does not give 2 nickles about copyright same as Russia, so yeah.
yeah but didn’t you learn already that logic does not work on “stone walls” ?
your time, your choice mate, my experience is quite good, logged almost every day and level 64 atm, not rushing anywhere.
if the official has bugs immagine the private xD
Wonder if that had something to do with the higher player population.
Well yes you can.
I once had ban because answering in a thread about bug. If I remember right, I was in RO for 3 month or so, before GM allowed me to write.
@OP: Don’t know who “we” are. One thing I do know though, it’s not the ppl from the Nostalrius community.
I should know, I was a part of the Nostalrius community, knew the ppl behind it and also signed the Nostalrius petition with my real name and surname. In it, we asked for BLIZZARD RUN VANILLA AND CLASSIC SERVERS.
Let me repeat this for you, BLIZZARD RUN SERVERS.
After Blizzard forced me and and the rest of us to go play in Private Servers against our will b/c they destroyed WoW here’s a few highlights I’d like to share with you after spending 10 years or so in the PS scene and going through over 6 or 7 different projects:
- Arena sets of gear and PvP gear were on for sale for real $$.
- Chinese gold miners, Chinese botters, Russian & Ukrainian Mafias monopolizing gatherable resources making your gathering professions worthless.
- Dupers/Duping.
- Corrupt server admins getting paid in real $$ or taking a cut to unban the botters, hackers and griefers.
- Multiboxers controlling up to 10 toons at a time using them to gather resources such as E’ko making them inaccessible to normal players.
- Slavic-only & Chinese-only speakers ruining your quests, your battlegrounds, your pugs, your dungeons and pug raids.
- PvP hackers. If you think Sodapopopin was hacking WSG wait until you see the real hacking pros using every hack in the book to hack BG’s and Arenas. I remember, amongst other things, the “ghost blinking untargettable” players, the wall hackers, the untargettable flag carriers, Saps lasting 30 seconds etc.
- Bugs. There’s tons of bugs everywhere, quest bugs, glitches etc.
- Class abilities don’t work as they should.
- Unsavory ppl playing you don’t want to meet or have anything to do with.
If you wanna go play in a PS be my guest. I think I’m gonna give them a miss after 10 years or so.
Pass my best regards to China & Russia, thank God we have our own Blizzard servers now we can play on.
Thank YOU Blizzard for giving us a home and a nice clean environment to play on.

Hold on. Do I get it right? You praying to the seller for selling you a low quality product?
Yes, you got this right.
We wanted Blizzard run servers and we got it. It is YOU who say the product is inferior, not us. I find nothing wrong with the product and I also find your whining groundless.
ty for that very interesting and insightful post, I really wish the classic community would read that a few times over until they really understood it… They do ruin a lot of the fun for themselves and others with their entitled attitude about this game…
One of the people behind Nost who also traveled to Blizzard HQ and met with Blizzard Devs and senior staff, Nano, now has a You Tube Channel and a Twitter Account wherein he tweets and posts videos frequently about Retail WoW and Classic WoW.
If you read his tweets and see his videos, you’ll see that Nano, like all the other Nost admins and Moderators, was just a very devoted Blizzard and Warcraft fan and nothing else and all he wanted, like the rest of us, was Blizzard servers to play on.
He’s more of a Blizzard fan than me as he plays and enjoys modern WoW too smt that I cannot do.
So, I don’t know who these ppl are but they are not from the Nost community.
Interesting posts Danaoss, makes one wonder about… things.
You pay money for it. You should not pray seller for allowing to buy product. While nost gave us close experience in term of quality, they got no money from us.
Please stop spreading this nonsesnse about pservers. Even on nost there were less rmt than we have now.
