Just a really, really long shower in the Light.
I wanna make a joke about ‘quality’ time with a Light-Forged Draenei, if you know whadda mean ;)))
It’s not some great sin to change things to match what you always wanted. Void Elves have always been a half-way house in my opinion. It’s not like Horde aren’t getting High Elves well.
Which is going to make things look even more weird honestly.
If ya wanna get technical, they aren’t. Since blood / high elf = / = colour of your eyes. It’ll just be a blood elf with blue eyes.
By fire be purged?
There is another one that I just bailed out on bc it was kinda dormant, might b thinking of that
Yeah but man’s got more than a single voidoid character ur definitely thinking of the right 1 tho
Honestly I can not wait, it’ll make actual void elf rp far more interesting.
Blood/High elf is at this point a strictly political divide. Horde high elf literally can not exist, it’s just a blood elf.
does it matter if a person can RP and play more than 1 character and maybe not all of them are insane void cultists?
sounds like either the moderators of that Disc cant even rub two braincells together or had ulterior motives
Then they should have been RPing their void elves as high elves from the start. And if you want to change your character to be a high elf instead of void elf, it´s easy to just change TRP and RP a new character (they can even have the same first name).
Anything is better than coming to people someone RPs with and say “my character has been high elf the whole time” or do a massive headcanon of curing a void elf from the Void.
If only such were true
I hope you mean this one
otherwise I’ll look majorly like I’m tooting my own horn in a second.
Anyway. Realistically, you get the same ‘problem’ OP has with DHs, DKs, Nelves, Draenei- huh, wait… I think it might have to do with some people just being very loose with their idea of conforming to lore. I mean, they’re paying a monthly sub to enjoy the game, not to stress over lore and sticking close to it (even though some people, me included, do enjoy the game that way).
If they bother you (much as they bother me, too) , you can just ignore their existence, nobody holds you at gunpoint to pay attention to them!
That’s the one.
To be fair, that tends to be met with an overwhelming amount of stigma and mockery as well. Whether justified or not, it’s just not that simple a choice.
Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.
True, but the stigma often comes from people who are more strict about roleplay and these simply aren´t the people who tend to RP in situations where they would often interract with void elf characters who act like humans.
Aah, that one. Gotta say I’m not a particularly huge fan of it for a variety of reasons, from largely unsupported claims about their morality and their mental state alike.
Sad thing is, Blizzard made void elves with a specific fantasy in mind, being a fringe group of researchers and associates that try to harness the power that could drive lesser minds insane. Instead, people took them as their opportunity to finally RP thalassian elves of their dreams but in Stormwind with humans and not in Orgrimmar with all the stinking horde. Hence why we see influx of velf characters in trivial roles such as bartender or general street loiterer. Here’s to hope with new skin tones the “alliance elf” demographic makes a full transition to high elves while ren’dorei remain played by people buying into their unique concept and opportunities.
I think the vast majority of the stereotypical velf roleplay as mentioned in the OP, will transition to a more pro-active choice with a High Elf
This exactly
well-worded and well-meaning headcanon, weirdly the same basis that was emanating from that aforementioned Discord
If you don’t like their RP, don’t RP with them. Make your own Void elf guild/community and RP them the way they’re supposed to be RPed. It’s that simple.
This is true. I wish people would put more effort in playing their races as how they are instead of roleplaying them like humans in alien bodies. Diversity imho is okay, but it would be cool to see people be more mindful of roots of the races they roleplay, and if they are new, learn more. Stormwind is where this is most common, while in hubs people show more quality. Still I’m not against adventurous characters for having a few myself, or totally being blind to the fact that if you’re hugely biased by your background (and thus hostile towards let’s say Fel or Undead), it’s going to limit your interactions a lot outside Stormwind. But it can also create some juicy IC drama.
Another issue that comes with it, is also roleplayers being quite indifferent to laws of non-humans. Like bringing death knights to nelf hubs and all that, while most kaldorei would be reasonably cautious if not hostile about them, regardless of times changing. Still, we can’t be jerks about it by saying “don’t RP here” or “don’t use this hub”, obviously that’s not our place. Half of the time people are reasonable when it’s handled through IC, but there’s always someone who would be immune to all attempts to attack or restrain them, or get mad OOCly that our chars have a problem with it IC, and take appropriate action.
I guess the same could be said about casual Eredar roleplayers in Draenei hubs or even Stormwind. I still gotta respect it when my warlock actually got into trouble for attempting to summon a demon in Stormwind, instead of being shrugged off.
quitter attitude. Ascending people to greatness (when viable) is the superior approach
