It’s obviously not viable, and neither you nor anyone else can change that, so just do your own thing and have fun, and let them have their.
that’s a doomer take i can’t support.
Seen plenty people over the years that improved as time went on, as they got actual guidance instead of yes-men that actually just wanted to ERP with them loads.
Sure, there’s plenty people who are just beyond salvaging, and it’s not like the problem as a whole can be solved, but that’s hardly cause to leave every single one of them adrift and helpless.
Disagree, by helping each other we make for a better community and it’s been working so far, no matter how slow or fast.
Just moving on / ignoring each-other we make for a segregated community and that’s bad.
Alright. Let me know how it goes. I wish you best of luck.
Thanks, very well. Last I heard there’s 19 guilds worth of people and the numbers keep increasing
What’s the point of attempting to improve / offer help?
- the doomers and the year 2020’s guide to bringing in negativity into a gaming / RP community of which it is clearly not needed
I too have plenty of people on my ignore list and there’s plenty of nutcases in AD that can’t be helped, but Stormwind / Void Elf RP isn’t all trash, thankfully. But by having the attitude of a depressed beaver whose dam just collapsed, it’s not going to improve either.
I’m pretty sure I was a big Pepega when I started to RP for the 1st time a long time ago, but over the years by learning, watching others and via help of others you eventually improve. At least in most normal situations I guess. In any case, having a complete nihilistic view and belief that certain people can’t be helped because “it’s pointless anyway” isn’t really helpful nor friendly, and for OOCers, it’ll just make them believe that RPers are closeminded and toxic anyway.
Where have I said that they can’t be helped? I’m just saying that there’s no need to help them, because unless they’re ERPing they’re just having fun for their monthly sub paid. So you just hang out with people you enjoy RPing with and all’s good. Isn’t that the logical thing to do?

You’re saying it’s not viable and they can’t be helped anyway, and you’re almost saying that instead of offering advice or helping people, to just do your own thing.
Perhaps we should all enter the realm of bubble RP… I mean, to hell with all the others, amirite? Just do your own thing.
You could always let them have more fun in a larger community if you give them tips about roleplaying! If someone’s so ‘bad’ (I don’t really like calling it that) at roleplaying most do not want to interact with them, giving them pointers might positively contribute to their enjoyment coming from the hobby.
Yeah, I’ve been giving pointers and helpful advice in the past. Know what the response was? “Lol I pay 13 euro to have fun my own way, I don’t need your help, go bother someone else!”
I think having a thread called ''void elf RP is embarrising" (and then manage to misspell it too) is toxic and, ironically, embarrassing in the first place. RPd with plenty of void elves who were great. And if even a void elf happens to have a human-like name, it wont put me off entirely. Perhaps there’s an IC reason, perhaps not? The lore is all over the place anyway so who cares anymore.
Damn, so if you ever get declined a couple of times from finding a job would you quit searching for it altogether? And this seems a bit odd, every single person you offered pointers and helpful advice told you to ''sod off and bother someone else?"
Crazy.
That’s right. Everyone on the Alliance did. Not on the Horde, but those were new RPers, so they were eager to learn.
Absolutely normal thing for anyone who speaks English as foreign language.
So what’s the problem then?
So you actually were okay with it on Horde but somehow everyone you spoke to on the Alliance told you to sod off and it demotivated you? Okay.
You admit to having helped eager new RPers but then come off as someone who claims that helping others is a waste of time, or just make your community, or it’s not viable, you won’t change anything, etc. etc.
Bit of a weird thing to say. In my opinion Alliance RP has improved somewhat, perhaps you just asked the wrong people.
English is my 3rd language and if you misspell a word it usually comes with a red line underneath it and you can correct it with 2 clicks of the mouse. Regardless, it’s still toxic to make threads like TOO MANY VOID ELF RPERS or QUALITY OF VOID ELF RP IS EMBARRISING and then pretend people wont call you out for it.
This unneeded thread. If people want to change something / offer help to them, then do something in-game instead of making a thread like REEE VOID ELVES BAD AND EMBARRISING and acting like helping / offering advice to people doesn’t change a thing, just because you got some negative whispers once.
Or you can be like me and not realise your first name sounds as human as it does until you make the character and roleplay it for a while. My thought process was that… Laura sounds too human, Lauren sounds a bit less human and if I add one more ‘n’ it will be perfectly elvish. Only then, I’ve realised that Lauren is actually a real-life name.
Retconning the first name/changing it after having played the character for a few years seems wrong, though.
I guess I just don’t know when to give up. Helping others is the right thing to do, even if it often ends in disappointment.
Perhaps. I can’t claim to have spoken with entire Stormwind and Duskwood.
Glad we agree on something.
Hey,
I once RPed a Jedi who’s starship was called Crevice…
Because I didn’t know what Crevice was, I think I stole it off of a map.
Love calling my badass starfighter “Crack”
We all make mistakes.
I mean there’s a night elf called Marius so… you know it’s not exactly heresy.
I created a new account and character just to write this
