I know Blizz is not going roll back changes to UI Character Create screen, spellbook, talents, etc. because I quit.
I so much WANTED play HC on official.
But those changes …
Made by tech intoxicated people not old enough to have ever played Vanilla.
Enough is enough.

I have cancelled my subscription (reluctantly). The graphics update has ruined the game for me on my M2 Max MacBook with fans hitting near 6000 doing nothing. I may consider resubscribing if they provide an option to toggle between this new UI / graphic options and the ones we had before the update.

You playing Era?
Look in spellbook, lower ranks to be chosen.
Go ESC look at Options.
Go character select screen now see body types - was not even in PTR before yesterday.
Was not your talents also reset? Now see role.
And slow reactions, bird nameplates too big, lots of more twinkle, glitter everywhere. Just game too slow.

Most of those changes are “whatever” and don’t impact the gameplay in any way. They just have to fix the bugs in order to make it less laggy.

Keep on dreaming. Is new UI makes everything laggy.
And maybe for you and Черница UI changes is not big deal but is to me and many more. And with HC playing, I would see much of Character create screen and UI as have to toggle opff Auto cast/ auto attack setting for each new character.

They just changed the character screen to have “body types” insted… how does that even affect you?

Not really Dragonflight UI, only the options menu. Someone doesn’t understand that nostalgia is an important factor. I can guess they’ll soon push the “body type” update from Wrath to Classic Era without realising the real issue - it’s not people actually caring about the text or the icons, it’s people caring about the layout - originally you’d click “Dwarf → Male → Paladin”, and in Wrath Classic they swapped positions of the buttons, resulting in “Dwarf → Paladin → confused → No boobs”.

If someone doesn’t believe in the significance of nostalgia, then look at the infamous Prince Polo situations where sales dropped significantly after they changed the packaging.

I’ve just logged in and I’m truly puzzled. What is the logic behind this? Who authorized such baffling changes? Why tamper with the essence of the Era? The primary purpose was to preserve it and allow players to relish the game’s authentic elements.

This is incredibly disheartening.

I see no explanations here, no reason, only people as confused as I.

All these changes to Era and to the HC servers made me re-unsub.

To me spellbook looks the same, talents only got a role icon, and character creation only got gender renamed to “body type” and icons changed, probably because people at Blizzard think that they can discriminate Bodies 2 if they remove all references to gender from games and pretend they didn’t even know that women exist.

Why tamper with the essence of the Era? The primary purpose was to preserve it and allow players to relish the game’s authentic elements.

Originally they said they would keep Classic as a “museum piece”, but that went away with the removal of spell batching and addition of the world buff preserver. And now this.

And people on the chat will react accordingly. Instead of a proper classic-like community we’ll get bunch of trolls talking about the body types and asking for body 3. Was the same on Wrath. There will also likely be some rebel actions like mass N-bombing on trade. And Blizzard will likely combat that by restricting trade chat posting, for example requiring all posts to contain only WTS/WTB, item link, and price, and nothing more.

This lore-retroactive change of renaming gender to “body type” is so ridiculous that there is nothing better to do than renaming Blizzard to “Nostalriuslike Company 2”.

Well my PC is 6 years old and it handles WoW just fine. Nothing fancy, but no lags or stutter you mentioned.

Still don’t understand how peoples brains get hung up on something as stupid as the body type options. Brain short circuit after options - that are basically still the same - get renamed? It’s really not that hard to grasp, but if that’s enough to make people quit, so be it.

I just have addon in Wrath that restores traditional character gender icons in barber shop menu. Sadly no addons can load in character creation menu.

The new icons are giving you photosensitive seizures? To me they only break the nostalgia.

The thing is they put an effort to make a change that does absolutely nothing other than breaking the nostalgia. They wanted people to move to private servers, or something? Idk, maybe private servers pay more than subs?

Also, not everyone is content with constant anti-LGBT trolling on trade chat this change will bring.

Sadly no addons can load in character creation menu.

They can with a cracked client. There was once a community that made cracked EXEs to enable naked models. I can imagine cheater communities do that too.

can you be more specific ? i see the role button but not sure what it does. so “male” and “female” are now body type 1 and 2, i dont care. Any actually impactful changes ?

I am guessing technical reasons like stability, better documented codebase, easier to maintain etc.? Looks like they switched parts of the pieces to a newer version but - as you say - looks like 0 impact so far
