Blizzard shouldn’t build their game around add-ons, but around the experience of the game.
Nor they should ban add-ons.
Instead, the race to world first and the mythic invitational should start banning add-ons in their competition.
Every time people see a team win the race to world first or the mythic invitational because of an add-on, everyone goes into an uproar about it, wanting Blizzard to ban add-ons.
But what you should really want is for the race to world first and the mythic invitational to prohibit the offending add-ons instead, just like any other competitions bans things that may make it unfair or boring.
For example, physical sports ban things like steroids not only so that the competitors don’t drop dead but also so that no one makes a stink after words.

see now that would be logical just like your not allowed to use drugs in other competitive sports addons should be completely banned from stuff like world first and mdi but then the players would have to actually relay on this so called skills they have rather then being in handicap parking space supported by their 981932489342 addons

but they use designer drugs that are modifying performance while being undetected so…
u know how many billions the sport industry is worth? country prestige etc? u think only one country uses ‘‘doping’’?? no theyre just poorer, didnt grease the wheels as much and got caught
Oh I do want that, now you’ve said it.
Problem is, it would reveal just how much of a war has gone on between DBM+Bigwigs and the WoW devs. The raids would have to get tuned downwards because we all know that it’s harder without addons.
And then once it’s in public territory, we’d discover the difficulty has dropped off a cliff because here we’d be with all our visual indicators, and “move, move, move” warnings.
On the whole, I feel like the best thing we can hope for is that there is a future block on addons reporting anything except the player’s status and raid frames. No chirps to move or interrupt, no encounter times. We can keep our weakauras to track our self buffs and rotations, but that should be where it ends.
(Or actually, Blizz would be forced to design raid encounters with clear telegraphing of moves so that people can tell what’s going on without addon help.)
Well , while under handed tricks undeniable are a thing, they still regulate themselves and don’t ask for the chemicals needed to make those drugs to be banned by the government.
It’ll never happen. Ever.
And the reason is simple. Trust.
You spend so much time preparing, you can’t risk that the other teams will be gentlemen and stick to the agreed parameters. This would then have to be policed by someone who all parties (and outsiders) trust, which is hard, if not impossible.

Well , if you want to play fair you got to put the effort .
Who said any of them want to play fair? They want to win and you have no idea of how far they will go to do that since you don’t know them.
Sure, it would be nice if they were all fair play champions, but how likely is it?
Addons aren’t just there to make the game easier, but to add convenience. Progression is as much about endurance as it is about performance, and blizzard’s inefficient default UI is too exhausting to use even after a short time.
Your comparison to physical sports is inaccurate as all runners are allowed to use custom shoes, or at least shoes in general.
hahah imagine all these clowns doing razageth raid without
HONK! HONK! MOVE OUT! , razageth will do something in a second
now THAT would be race i would actually watch
you would see a true display of skill
allso ban healbot lmao

In the examples mike gives all of them end up making the fight easier. In your example the custom shoes will be ui look and position, because they don’t really make a difference , but do make it more comfortable.
Nothing on Razsageth requires an addon. At best only for the debuffs during the shields in P2 for quicker stacking considering how brutal the dps requirements were at that point.

If you think teams win because they can afford devs to make them addons, you should also ban MMO mice and limit each boss to 20 attempts so poor teams and those with no jobs can compete on equal footing.
To be clear: I don’t think the race is fair even between the 0.1% that actually has the resources to compete in it, but this addon debate completely misses that point.
you can expand this to every boss in this raid, nothing in vault require addon
look, first they need to make ability ground indicators so u can actually see where to stand to not be killed its so bad in this game i wonder why i even raid this garbage WoW still xD
Correct.
The ground indicators are fine in the raid. You dont have to min max stuff like Raszageths swooping over the platform with her breath. Its more annoying in other areas really.
As for the why: Raiding in other games is arguably even worse.
just bring nitendo’s modification law to eu and na and most of you would be going to jail a lot of wow player who moved to ff 14 don’t understand why you can’t use addons because its a law nitendo lobbied in blessed their capitalism corrupted hearts that prevent the illegal modification of consoles wow is not a console it don’t really apply but for ff 14 it does
indicators are fine ? sir i would like to know where terros platform destroying skill EXACTLY ENDS you know what i mean ? a simple line would do.
i want to see where razageth fly in phase 2 ON THE GROUND as an actual line
this counts to halls of valor 1 boss too btw
and yeah, there is no strong competetitor so wow raids can be garbage yet still ive had fun and got to do half mythic vault (my sub quit tommorow)
i would pick them instead elder scrolls or guild wars 2 or final fantasy cause i just dont like the style and lost ark cause its just p2w to get to raid
Wouldnt make any difference. Nintendo doesnt want their stuff to be tampered with. Blizzard does.
Because Square doesnt want them. This isnt anything new. They are however fully aware that addons are being used by not a small percentage of the playerbase.
those addons are Illegal in japan you can actually go to jail because of the for mentioned nitendo law
Same as for Raszageth. You dont have to min max that.
Explained in the previous post.
FF14 raids are fine. Matter of taste really. Still think they are worse than WoW raids.
