I started it and decided to quit halfway through, because the quests kept bugging out and not recognizing my progression.
Now the portal to Dornogal doesn’t exist for me, and nobody can see my messages anymore (both general chats and whispers), and when I try to pick the quest back up, it completely restarts, except instead of sending me to the instanced Dalaran, it just sends me to regular Legion Dalaran with no way to continue.
I also noticed that while doing the quests, I did about 5% of my normal damage, while at the same time almost getting oneshot by even the weakest mobs.
Is this thing really that broken, or is this just an issue for me?
Can you go back to Chromis and ask to leave this timelins?
Or maybe “return me to current timeline?”
DOH! I meant Lorewalker Cho. He should have an option to leave Lorewalking.

When you say “recap quest”, what exactly do you mean?
If you mean Lorewalking, then Lorewalker Cho is probably your answer.
If you mean the quest to get to The War Within, going through instanced Dalaran, then you should try taking the portal to Azsuna and flying to Dala.
It’s a new quest you get from a floating tome in Valdrakken. It seems to be a condensed version of the TWW campaign. The tome does have an option to bring you back to normal times, but when I did it, it completely isolated me. Can’t communicate with people, and can’t go to Dornogal.
EDIT: I managed to reach 80 by just doing pet battles, and was automatically offered the quest to skip the campaign from Brann. I had to get another mage to help me get there, but afterwards I was brought back to “reality”.
