The removal of some emotes

You don’t get to decide what a word means and then imagine everybody knows what you’re imagining, bro.

It seems Woke is the only word you know

Shame you don’t have any compassion or understanding. But this conversation is futile.

Either way the emotes are gone, whether we like it or not. This isn’t even new. This happened a few years ago. Most of us have made our peace and moved on.

It may not be new, but things still change. I’ve only recently found out, and was quite surprised at the changes.

Not really. I facepalm a lot at the current generation, but it is what it is…

I’m sorry I don’t understand. It seems woke is the only word you know?

Anyway, Blizzard cares a lot about DEI and ESG, and consequently fall under the term “woke”. Whether we like it or not is really not relevant to discussing whether or not they are.

How do we know?

That’s because they’re giga mainstream companies existing just to make profit. They’re not trying to make people happy, they’re trying to make profit.

You’ll find what you actually want to see if you just dig a little deeper.

He doesn’t want to dig deeper.

He wants to be that edgy ‘giga-chad’ type who breaks new ground and sets trends without realizing his finger is so far off the pulse that this horse was flogged to death and sent to the glue factory 3 years ago.

Yeah that’s pretty obvious given their actions. But then happy customers = more profit, no?

I see you comment a lot on here, and it’s mostly garbage like that. I mean 13,212 posts. Seems you like to troll for enjoyment. Knock yourself out fella.

It’s surprisingly complicated.

Sales is just income. Profit is not income, profit is income minus expenses. A big factor for expenses is the price of any loans you may have to take to fund your game as well as taxes.

There are major tax incentives for ESG, and investment money is easier to come by, because at the core of it it’s a good thing. Making sustainable business that is good for the environment and respects is workforce is good, and therefore it is politically and economically encouraged.

Therefore, you want to harvest the largest amount of ESG money possible while losing as few customers as possible.

In other words, they are making the calculation that the lost sales from pissing a few customers off enough that they stop buying will lower income by a smaller amount than the expenditures will be lowered by getting the extra investments and tax breaks; in other words, the lost sale is subsidised.

In theory, this should be very possible. There is no reason Blizzard’s workforce cannot be diverse yet talented, there is no reason it can’t be socially conscious without being overbearing, there is no reason it cannot use smart and modern technologies to reduce its environmental impact. And, quite frankly, I think it has been for the last year or so.

The issue is that the implementation process can be corrupted by bad actors, and this has happened at Blizzard several times. I have heard of some pretty nasty training sessions, there was of course the walk-out, and then there was the whole Overwatch diversity scandal, which was just crazy.

I’m afraid that, if you are among the people who want the “woke agenda” to stop being pushed, voting with your wallet isn’t quite enough. The market is being manipulated - and the market isn’t in your juristiction so there’s really not much you can do, but you can petition your own government so at least some games, namely those made in your own country, will not be pushing this. For Blizzard, you’ve got to get at the Californian legislature, but given the fact that it’s like 70% radical left democrats and you don’t have a vote in the state… good luck
