The return of the Banshee

Shadowlands ended with Sylvanas heading off into the lovely Maw to rescue lost souls.

So, she’s not dead, and she’s not gone.

But is she coming back? And if so… when? Midnight? Or right at the end in The Last Titan?

And what kind of Sylvanas would we get? Repentant martyr? Reluctant hero?

I kinda doubt they’ll go for another full-on villain arc, think we’ve seen enough of that side of her already.

Personally, I don’t really miss her, but I do respect her journey and her weight in the lore.

So I can’t help but wonder: when and how will Metzen (a Hordie at heart, after all) play his Sylvanas card?

Im one of those individuals with the unpopular opinion that she should definetly come back and I hope we see more of her former self (Ranger General version). But im also biased since the Lore of WC3 and the Invasion of Quelthalas got me into the game and she has been my favourite (so much that her actions during BFA, culminating in the burning of Teldrassil made me quit the game for quite some time).

Got hope in Sl that she would rebell against Zovaal eventually but too little too late. Her turning Anduin was another dealbreaker for me - becoming Arthas 2.0. - no thanks.

But alas a part of me still clings to her for what she used to be before she got the villain hammer - kind of Lorthemars approach.

I think she might come back at the end of Midnight to protect her former home once more and might end up sacrificing herself (once more) either for Quelthalas or for one of her sisters (my bet is for Alleria because of the novel and the voids reaction to Sylvannas in that). I could imagine she will die to close the cycle (Die where/when she was supposed to die in the first place).

She didn’t get a villain hammer, she was always a villain.

It’s burned into my brain that she’s coming back to die. Possibly put into a scenario where she sacrifices herself to save Alleria.

If your alliance player sure. On the horde side she’s more an antihero

We were over this in previous threads. Remember the whole attacking, killing and experimenting on non combatants?

same.

she coud stay in the maw…
The fact that she received a redemption was already ridiculous enough.

lore wise the character is burned, and the redemption won’t change the fact that she’s still a mass murderer (who then screwed the horde btw)

She was pushed into a dead end and honestly: she would have been better off dead so as not to have a loose end.

Let her stay in the Maw, she had more than her share of time in the spotlight already.

Personally im hoping she stays in the maw.
The writers ruined her character, so the less we see her the better.

Agree with this. Since they ruined her in Shadowlands, I would like them to just leave her alone at this point.

The Windrunners are the most famous high/void/zombie elves in the game, i’m pretty sure they’ll be dragged into it when we go to Quel’thalas in “Midnight”, Sylvanas will be coming back for a tearful reunion with her sisters, i doubt Blizz will be able to resist, think of all the cinematics with them staring wistfully at each other we could have!

I’m hoping she returns in Midnight, it’s about time she returned.

I hope they just leave Sylvanas be, if you know what happened in Shadowlands you know that Banshee queen Sylvanas is permanently gone and never coming back, as that was a result of some soul split when arthas killed her but was undone, completely reverting her personality back to pre ressurection and honestly; that’s bad enough.

Lets not ruin her more, she deserves her rest.
Kind of like Garrosh and Arthas. o7’s in the chat, glad you were here even if how you went out was sad

That’s the bit that i don’t understand either (I asked in another thread, but got no useful replies), the “Dark lady” everybody’s apparently so ga-ga for is gone, her soul has been super-glued together again, she’s not the edgy “Anti-hero” people love so much anymore.

Unless Blizz doubles back on the whole “The nice part of her soul is back”-thing (Which would just give people whiplash from the characterisation changes), the only thing Sylvanas’ return will get us is a lot of complaining about losing her edge.

Characters never stay dead any more. Not just in Warcraft, but every other series. I’m sick of it. Die and stay dead, please.
