"The Rotation Assistant Beats 75% of WoW Players."

With minimal input and knowledge. Ie positioning and pushing CDS without OBR you can beat top players. Watch tettles in ML 17 beat every other dps. That key level is like top 1% players.

You are just wrong.

Is it really top 1% of players though? Because last time i checked most people don’t go above 10 because they don’t care about ego pushing.

And that’s when I stopped reading.

I assume he went to his usual over dramatic doom n gloom to validate his audience.

Yes, motivation is part of the 1% part. You need the achievement to prove you are the 1%. Not just “trust me bro”

Ego is the reason good players are so good. Go and watch the top players who aren’t entertaining get a few hundred viewers when they stream. Asmon crushes all of them at the same time and he sucks at games now. Ego fuels top wow players. It sure as shizzle isn’t real fame or riches

Ever been any different with him? xD

You would be if you played tank or healer and DPS in your groups would be those bots using OBR…. And suddenly OBR bugs out and the key is bricked because of that (as those bots don’t know how to play their class)

I wonder if that addon will stay around

Considering it’s just an addon that utilises the macro functions in the game already, no. It primarily does stuff in sequence, doing what Blizz themselves allow in the API.

The OBA is “smart” in doing stuff depending on the situation. GSE doesn’t do that, it’s suited for a generic rotation best with classes that have a cleave [melee/tank] always doing the same rotation. It’s ill suited for DoT classes like SP and Affliction, it’d just keep spaming the DoT and interrupting channeled spells.

OBA works best with with simple rotations as well such as BM and Demo, which I actively play. I can beat OBA at the training dummy, but in “real life” situations I am not so sure. I would assume it depends on whether it is delves, raids or M+. The more time you have to focus on your rotation the easier it is to beat the OBA. I play these two specs in delves with the OBA and enjoy that I have more time to focus on positioning and reacting on getting threat.
And then there are specs with more complex rotations. I rarely play my DH so I would say I suck at playing DH. Yet, I have set up the keybindings in a somewhat logical way when I used to play the spec more often in S1. And what shall I say, the OBA is really, really bad at playing that spec I would never use it.
I also downloaded GSE. But just looking at the setup and konfiguration felt so much as work that I closed it and never looked back. I rather suck, then digging into it. I would actually assume that players which are already good at their spec might use GSE to perform even better.

Sure.

First off, it’s not an indictment; if Blizzard wanted to, they could make the Rotation Assistant beat 100% of World of Warcraft players.

Where does this leave you? In the same place you were before the Rotation Assistant.

Because it doesn’t matter where you fall on the spectrum, you’re not a part of the 25% that outperforms the 75% of the players who are using or not using the Rotation Assistant.

So if you’re going to be criticised anyway for underperforming, you might as well play the way you find most enjoyable.

I wish i could explain why you should not have these concerns.

Unfortunately your concerns are very valid and unfortunately this seems to be the direction blizz is taking the game. Making it a one button party where everyone is equal and might alwell be a bot or AI-character while also leaving us zero personal add-on customization in the future so we can all play the exact same way as the icing on the cake <3.

LazyMacros, just import the ‘best’ one… which I did for my DH that I’ve been using since MoP Remix. It honestly shames this SP when it comes to quickly clearing out stuff, like Delves and Visions… and it’s 10 ilvls lower than this Priest.

I only play one spec: Mistweaver.

wrong he was in BiS gear surrounded by skilled hand picked players and knows the dungeon inside and out .

You’ve made my mouth water, so I started up GSE again. I didn’t know about Lazy Macros before, then found what seems to be the best macro. I could work my way around needing an approved build and also having to download plenty of WAs. But then I remembered why I shut it down for good the last time I tried: the key bindings, which are weirdly complicated. Unnecessarily complicated, I’d say. I guess my ADHD gets in the way.

Edit: Thinking about it: OBA could very well be also a response to this. because the combination of WAs and Sequences makes the entirety, once you get it working, sigh, probably much more powerful that what Blizzard likes it to be.

I just bound it to MwheelUP for my DH, by selecting the imported Macro and binding that to the desired key.

Which part of “heroic raiders” did you miss?

You do realize, that OBA can lose DPS in an actual fight too, right? As an example: if OBR has Glacial Spike (casted ability) queued as next ability, but You have to move due to the mechanic, it won’t do anything until you stop moving. It will not cast instant cast spells - it will try and repeatedly fail to cast Glacial Spike (at least that was the case when I tested it on PTR). Meanwhile, a player pushing buttons himself would continue dpsing the boss.

The 1-button rotation is a severe overcorrection from rotations being so complicated and full of modifiers that most people can’t play them.

It’s not surprising to me that the 1-button rotation does better than a majority of players. A majority of players can’t figure what the buttons do and they don’t want to go on Icy Veins or don’t know about it. They expect that spells do what they look like they do, but they don’t. They do tons of crazy things.

The correct solution is to clean up the classes and make it easy to understand intuitively what each ability does and why it does it. Each ability should be visceral and direct and look the part.

This whole thing is a total farce. Calling it ridiculous is way too kind.

Glacial Spike, other than it requiring icicles, is a perfect example of the kind of dynamics we want in the game. When you use it, the number one enemy is the actual enemy who’s trying to prevent you from using it.

Therefore the one-button rotation gets caught up when trying to use it.

But most spells aren’t like this.

The 1-button rotation should be irrelevant for almost any player because of all the things it can’t account for. The fact that it works at all proves how busted WoW’s combat has become over the last 4-5 years.

While I agree with your general assessment and solution (clean up classes), I’d rather say what the majority of players does, is go straight to Icy Veins or Wowhead and import a spec, because even the best players cannot figure out the interdependencies between talents (and possibly gear). They just rely on a couple ot top players to sim it out and put a breakdown on Wowhead. So in reality we don’t get all these choices the talent trees imply. Instead what we get per spec are these 4 builds to chose from RaidST, RaidAOE, M+ST and M+AOE. Just pick one and be done for the respective patch. It is so boring. And frustrating.

What most players struggle with, though, are learing openers, ST and AOE rotations each 15 steps long, because that turns the game into work (well not for all obviously). If only these were actual rotations. But they are usually priorities depending on certain conditions, so you need to learn checking those out as well and possibly setting up WAs for them.

And according to some folks here, you actually need to submit to this absurdity or stick to open world content, because when using the OBA you let the button play for you.
