Hello
So, you want the Rustfeather mount & you want to be an elitist? Well, say no more, with this guide you can become a Rustfeather elitist today!
The WoW community, as we know, rests on helping others and being kind. Well, for us elitists, we consider such things bizarre.
Why should one be elitist about Rustfeather, you may ask? Well, of course it’s to prevent as many players as possible from getting the mount, and thus keeping the mount a rarity only seen among other elitists.
What you want to do is that when you’re there at Rustfeather alone, possibly joined by one or three other non-elitist players, you make use of ALL your cooldowns and burst him down as fast as humanly possible. Remember that we’re playing patch 8.2 at the moment, so Essences should also be used.
Remember to not under any circumstances tell others that ‘Rustfeather is up’ or similar in General Chat. If you need help from others to kill him, i.e. you cannot kill him by yourself, well, then you’re not an elitist. Sorry not sorry.
If you want to maximize your representation of elitism, it’s essential that you’re part of an LFG Mechagon rare farm group. With up to 40 players sharing the same shard as you, you’ll be able to keep up to 39 players from getting the mount by killing it quickly.
Moreover, it’s generally important to have a high enough item level, knowledge of your class abilites and rotation in order to be able to kill it quick enough.

Unfortunately, there are as many people who just want to kill him and give no thought to others as those who just auto attack and wait for others.
It’s always been a problem with rares. Unfortunately, the solution is just to sit on spawn.

And you know what? I have no problem with killing him just by myself. Wanna know why? Cause i patiently waited until he spawned and wanna have my drop and not then make up a group, tell my familiy and relatives that rustfeather up to kill him then. Kill him, move on, do other stuff.

This doesn’t apply if you play alliance in horde mode. Then you have to nuke it down as fast as humanly possible before you get swarmed by hordes wanting the kill for themselves.
This is also why most alliance stay war mode off, and the 30% will likely last for many weeks to come.
If i have war mode off I go either way sometimes I just tag it, others I nuke hard just because I want to.

Exactly. This ensures that as few as possible will have a chance at the mount, thus making it more rare. If you get the mount drop, remember to stay AFK in strategic areas with the mount summoned (Stormwind, Bolarus etc.) to maximize your IATPH (Inspects And Targets Per Hour) statistics.

It has nothing to do with ‘elitism’.
People who want the kill need to camp the spawn point until he comes up.
You can’t expect other people to camp it for ages, and then wait and announce it for everyone else who couldn’t be bothered to do the same.
Often there are 5-10 people waiting for it, you honestly think they’re all going to hold off and wait for everyone else to show up?
If i’m there alone I will, and have, announce it in the chat. Otherwise there’s just no point because it will be dead before anyone else can get there anyway.

you dont have to get told about it, if you camp him like everyone else
instead of trying to do everything else and expect someone else to camp it for you for 40 minutes lmao

What for? A mount? A jet pack plan? I’m not even bothered about. I let people have their fun for a non flying mount. I’m the one who does the rest.
It took certain multiboxer 103 chars and 680 attempts to get that mount.
I have lost desire for it, cause it’s clearly one of this mounts to keep whales sub many accounts.

I do exactly that and i blame blizz for making me not care about anyone besides myself in this game. Everyone else might aswell be a npc and i wouldnt notice a difference.

I don’t think it’s elitist, it’s just people being selfish muppets. I announce a rare in general and coords, I tap the mob once if it’s already been engaged and I wait for people to come.
Some, however, are incapable of understanding that others might want to get there in time or they just enjoy being that kind of person to deny others.
Soundless is the same problem. You can get a whole raid group up there to fight him but some muppet will go hell for leather with their dps blowing all c/ds.

The chat is super active in the new zones with people reporting rares all the time wich is very nice
I have noticed a lot of people are using a addon that reports rare and coords when targeting it too.

It’s almost like retail is suddenly trying to compete with some other MMO game which is coming this summer.
It’s a breath of fresh air

I love it when people try to reset the boss so others can tag it, i always taunt it back so it doesn’t reset.
Maybe you could add that tip to your list!
Oh! and also when people in chat ask for the last timer i always tell them the wrong time! haha so clueless xD

Is this mount the new Invincible, where friendships and guilds are destroyed over it?
If someone is waiting hours to camp a rare and do not announce it in chat, then that is fine with me, after all they are the ones camping and not me.
If i want the mount then I too will camp out and wait for the npc to spawn. Right now to me it is not a priority it will just be another mount I place in my mount inventory, while I continue using the one or 2 mounts that are my favorites.
