The Shadowlands disaster called MAW

I cannot express how much dissatisfaction and frustration I feel every time I go to the MAW. Such a bad design of an area could not have been made. Several issues to point out:

  1. You can hardly see where you are going
  2. Mobs follow you for great distances without losing agro
  3. Certain areas have too much density of mobs that can see through invisibility
  4. The Beastwarrens are absolutely unpassable. You get feared (maddening effect) every 15 secs and you lose 60-70% of your health each time. I ended up dying twice in the first 3 minutes without getting back to my body and lost 1500 stygia.
  5. You cannot use a mount!!! And looting a mount every 10 mins is no excuse
I could probably list 10 more issues here…
And the problem is that you absolutely need the rep with Ve’nari
I get so upset at the persons who thought and designed this area that I get angry and say things

hurray for feign death. But yeah the maw is the most unpleasant zone to play in in WoW’s history. And the only thing you get out of it is stygia and rep for ve’nari

You obviously haven’t been to that particular area. I went with my hunter and I could not stay alive, not from mobs but from this maddening effect. Noone else experienced it??

fun fact. I even did the 5man quest for the elite hunt solo on my WW monk. but yeah tell me more

The Maw is the hell in wow for mortals.

Don’t expect happiness there.

But in all seriousness, they just ran out of time with maw content, torghast and balancing. That’s quite obvious actually.

Hopefully, things will improve in 9.1.

That means you shouldn’t goto that area. Get rep with Venari - after that she will unlock that area for you. No maddening effect after that.

She is even warning “turn back”.

You can’t go there and survive until you’ve unlocked that area.

And even then there’s no point 95% of the time because usually the only thing there is the hunt and every single hunt so far has been bugged to hell.

Just the ones wich are connected to the eye of the jailer. So assassins, abductors and those eye thingies. any of the normal mobs just allow feign death

You are right I forgot to mention this

It gave me a quest in that area and tried get there!

Its only 2 quests, thats enough for me …

I stopped bothering with daily maw stuff, it’s so tedious I just cba with it. I’ll do the weekly souls and that’s it.

Unpopular opinion: Its funny because for me the maw is one of the most fun and unique experience in wow since a very long time. Finally not the same old boring stuff but a little extra.

Why do people feel the important urge to write the “maw” in capitals? It’s not initials

The issue, my dear friend, is that we play cloth classes.
The game is not designed for us ;/

Just take a look at the hunter…
Has a tank pet, can heal it, can revive it. And uses Mail armor to be more tanky.
While he can shoot and jump everywhere

Maw is ok for Hunters and Melecharacters.

Cloth users like us need to do only froups or go f our selfs.
I higly doubt that they have ever tested the maw with a cloth user or a druid.
I bet they didnt even know druids can munt inside the maw untill the release
How unballanced is this.

Imo, the worst part of the Maw (not the only terrible part though), is the eye. So yes, at least nerf that, so that we can do more than a couple of rares and one or two quests before it’s filled.

And btw, it is braindead. An artificial debuff and too dense mob placements doesn’t make a zone great. Having to fight every 5 meters is neither challenging nor fun, it’s simply annoying as hell.
