Hello , is it me , or this game became so toxic ? Every dungeon group either start’s flaming from the little mistake or leaves or insta offline ( not normal causes ) , everyone is so stressed , the competitivity is gone for a lot of ppl , we just can’t find groups that we fit in them , to get better as a team , we just say gg and leave party and go to the next 1h of trying to find another ok group that will not flame eachother , i want to reach out to the comunity not the blizzard staff , because the change came from us not from the staff , we changed the way we do things , how can we change ourselfs to change this game in something thats better , without the responses like if you don’t like that activity just don’t do it anymore because i like the activity i just don’t like what it has becamed with the change in people behavior , a “ban” will not change anything , so this is my plea to the comunity
Hey there,
I get where you’re coming from, and I really appreciate your post—it’s clear you care deeply about the game and the community. The environment in some groups has definitely shifted, and it can feel overwhelming at times.
I think part of the issue stems from how fast-paced and efficiency-driven the game has become. Many players feel pressured to perform perfectly all the time, which unfortunately leads to frustration when mistakes happen. But you’re right—this isn’t something Blizzard alone can fix; it’s about how we interact with each other.
One thing that’s helped me is trying to set the tone in groups. A simple “Hey all, let’s have fun!” or a quick “No worries, we got this!” after a wipe can defuse tension and remind people why we’re here—to enjoy the game together. It’s surprising how much a little positivity can influence the group.
On a broader scale, building or finding communities with like-minded people can also make a difference. Guilds or Discords focused on being friendly and supportive are great ways to escape the negativity.
At the end of the day, you’re doing the right thing by bringing attention to this. Change starts with conversations like this one. Hopefully, more players will realize that the way we treat each other matters just as much as the game itself.
Stay positive out there, and good luck finding groups that vibe with you!
Games been like it with the toxicity ever since they tried to make the game competitive and turn it into a esport.
The after effects of which are still felt today.
community is great . i had 90 percent positive encounters with people with 10 percent being bad .that is not bad at all .
you must be new . esports was launched way back in 2007 .it has always been competitive
One of my friends recently started playing no joking first group he joined he was instantly kicked.
Reason being " no furies"
As he was playing vulpera.
And the games toxicity stems from then to.
I honestly dont remember the game being toxic beforehand.
Late tbc early wotlk with thing like arena taking off and gearscore taking dominance…
Thats when the toxicity started imo.
People will find ways to make even games with no competitive value toxic.
In the early expansions a random person , couldnt join a HC raid , without putting the comitment , that made new player’s frustrated that they can’t experience the full content WoW has to offer , but on the other side , ppl cared about theyr comunity , they really tried to make it work because they put the work to get there , nothing came easy , now some of us don’t have that time anymore to put that kind of time to play , i personaly always try to stay informed , to bring my best with my time that i play , i don’t even know where is the balance , i guess somewhere i lost the fun in wow , but mostly i think i just acumulated a lot of negativity and just need to go down on this , to cool off
The thing which made me seemingly toxic.
Although unintentionally im just voicing my opinions.
Is constant let downs by the games developers.
Expecting more than we get handed to us and of higher quality.
That is just me though.
well the game developers give us what ppl ask for , many good things they implemented are good quality of life improvements
Yeah sometimes i agree.
Other times they miss the head of the nail with the hammer and end up crushing their thumb
My theory is that people actually took the line “if you don’t like that activity just dont do it” literally and just stop playing it.
Now we have a playerbase that is 80-90% competitive and hardcore (or trying to be)
All of the other players have either gone to private servers or to classic where its no where near as hardcore on retail (even with hardcore classic)
It might also just be people not being open to new players that are playing the game for the first time or who has had a break over years from wow.
I sympathise with you, as i honestly have no energy to deal with m+ anymore. And i did m+ pretty hardcore during SL’s massiv droughts
You’re kidding right? The amount of griefing in Hardcore is unreal. People pulling entire dungeons then wiping the group, players kiting npcs over afk players to get them killed, Hardcore is filled with toxic cretins.
OT: Yes, the community is hella toxic but that’s because people don’t want to put up with failure, everyone believes they’re entilted to win, and cannot possible ever be at fault - my advice, find some cool people to do your content with and let pugging be a thing of a by gone era.
That was not my experience in M+. Granted, I didn’t go higher than +5 so far, but may be try lower keys? Not toxic at all.
Now raids are toxic indeed. Few wipes and half of raid are leaving.
I’ll second in on this opinion. 2008 when achievements came out. TBC/early Wrath is where it went wrong. The game suddenly became flooded with kiddies demanding items and not grind for them.
Suddenly you could get mounts from achievements or by killing few mobs out in the wild. Suddenly you got epics sprinkled up your behind everytime you finished a dungeon. Entitlement had arrived to wow.
Participation medals all around to avoid all these kids to cry about things they didn’t get.
Gone were the 3-4 months of hard daily farming rep to get an awesome dragon mount. Finish up these 20 achievements and we throw one at you.
You wanna kitten up your guild and go pug a raid with strangers for achievement points? Sure, go ahead… I’m sure your guildmates didn’t count on you for the weekly raid lockout, even though you were the main healer…
Guilds used to be something you were loyal to. A place online you’d call home, an online family if you’d like, -where you’d grind your dkp, depending on how hardcore it was. Could be minutes you’d farm mats for the entire raid that could give you x amount of dkp, or just a place where you’d come on to relax and play with friends (after your guildmaster had made sure, you had done your homeworks) and run few dungeons, have fun or just explore the game.
(I’ve had my fair share of teenagers througout the years, I wouldn’t bring to dungeons until they were done with homeworks, and to this day, I’m still in contact with them.
Heck, as late as last month, I was being told a heartfelt Thank you for actually caring enough to not only be sure they’d not fall behind in school, but also feel they had a safe place to be themselves when they struggled with IRL, parents, girlfriends, teachers.
Exploring new places, sometimes areas where mobs had skulls, but you and a handful of others, were just sooo curious, you had to go check it out. Dying for hours without end, but memories were made. No one was pissy, no one was toxic.
-And if you had been spamming trade for a person more to a run, that person wasn’t being kicked if he messed up. He was told what to do, or he’d even say before joining that he’d never been there before, but he was willing to give it a try if anyone would let him. No one got kicked for having lesser gear in the group. A beartank would not even be kicked, for having a green monkey mace with unholy enchantment on and when asked why, the answer was “it looked cool”
It was just silly, but it somehow worked. And people were nicer.
Now it feels like there are no adults to supervise the majority of players. They stand on their ridiculous mounts, preferably with potions and world enlargers, whatever. Anything that can piss other people off or be a nuisance in any shape or form.
I don’t know. Personally I think these retards are compensating for something they must be lacking in other departments, in case it isn’t teenagers without prober upbringing.
Rant over for now. Sorry for the wall of text.
Yes.
This has nothing to do with Blizzard or game. PLAYERS alone decided for themselves to rush everything.
NOBODY is forcing players to rush every quest, every achiev, every item, every dungeon or delve. They put this pressure on themselves.
Why can i after a long day, make a good cup of hot tea, play some relaxing music and just enjoy the game to it’s fullest? Every breath of it, everything that Blizzard offers us? Why can i read quests, pay attention to lore, look around for the beautiful zones, atmosphere, nature, music and everything, but most people can’t?
I am also happy for this threat. Because as a tank, i’m sick of all these sweaty nerds stressing me in dungeons with their constant ninja pulling and screaming at me if i dare to slow down a little bit. And god forgive me, if i even dare to say something back. I get instantly kicked if i call out these ninja pullers.
This is so well put mate. You couldn’t be more right. I’m so happy to see someone else too calling out community for their OWN decitions.
Nobody is forcing players to pressure, to rush content. Everyone is making that decition for themselves!!
sadly I deleted the Ai chat I used for this topic so I can´t use it to reply to you
I’ve leveled a number of alts in this anniversary, and the amount of runs without issue far exceeds those that did… I’d put it around 50:1, 1 being me being afk.
what else do you want them to say ?
