The state of the community

The people here who actually play M+ say toxicity in M+ is very rare.

I have played a good long while now and while the game has always had it’s try hard crowd and toxic keyboard warriors - being behind a computer tends to get people feeling comfortable saying things they wouldn’t say to your face. I agree though it does feel like now more than ever it’s harder to find decent people in this game that are just here to play it, enjoy it and have fun and not act like a turd.

I think that’s what has to change, people need to remember this is for fun. They need to remember the avatar in the game is being played by a real person with real feelings and emotions. They need to control their own behaviour and emotions.

I think there should be penalties beyond a short ban for people that are toxic in the game. Offenses that include racism, sexism, and telling someone to harm themselves should be a permanent ban from the game with no warnings just once and done.

We need better reporting capabilities to include screenshots of the offensive comments to back up that kind of punitive measure. We play alot to play this game and just blocking people isn’t enough.

I hear what you’re saying about Blizzard not being able to fix this but actually they can. It’s their platform and they have made it accessible for everyone with no way to weed out people that bring down the reputation of their game and make it inaccessible to new players of different skill levels. It is completely within their gift to change the structure of player scoring for behaviour and reporting behaviour incompatible with the environment it should be fostering.

The feeling you are having is exactly my reason i soley play Guild Groups now, and ive started doin PvP which felt like a breath of fresh air

I understand. I remember phase 1 of SoD and it was indeed very nice to be able to clear the raid very easily because everyone could join so I agree with you to an extent.
But I also enjoy being able to tackle on harder challenges with people, it feels great although you exclude some people in doing so. Besides, even with easy content people can get toxic because they’re gonna min max it anyway (see 2019 classic).

I do agree trying to make WoW an Esport was a disaster, whether it was PvE or PvP. But having higher difficulty in the game can also be great because it forces people who want to do high end content to find other likeminded people and stick with them, directly wiring people.
Again, and because of this latter argument, I just feel like regardless of difficulty, you’ll always have to be proactive to avoid toxicity, ie looking for the right guild for you.

Which is why people come then on forums and complains about toxic community.

Like, i think most of us can agree it’s understandable, that in m+ people can get emotional.

But it’s the moment, in normal dungeons, in TW dungeons or delves, and some sweaty nerdy dps ninja pulling and screaming “FASTER FASTER”, why people come here on forum and complain.
This is what needs to stop. These kinds of sweaty nerds in casual instances.

Which nobody watches anyway… No one cares about WoW esport. Don’t understand why Blizzard is trying so hard to shove it our throats.

True. Well said mate.
I experience this too. I kinda finished all the casual easy content in TWW. And for me pretty much all that remains are m+, harder raids difficulties and high tier delves.
And more and more i think about that i should just find one guild .
Which is kinda scary thought to me. I’m more of a solo player.

so nicely put. well done sir.
i for myself have pulled out of all and any group content. i just prefer the odd times i can play to sit in delves or do quests. but that is just me.
if someone can find friends that love to do M+, happy for you

It’s so relaxing huh? Especially delves, there’s something about them. Maybe it’s that there’s no timer in there. But then again, so they are not in dungeons (except m+), but the feeling just isn’t same as in Delves.
