The Three Missing In Action Classes: The Tinker, The Spellblade, And The Necromancer

The reason why I am starting with the Tinker is because they are the easiest, but also out there.

Obviously, they can have a Healer , a Tank , and a Damage Dealer, but we don’t really have names for their specs. Maybe they can call the DPS the Mortar or Sapper, and maybe the healer the medic. One can be called the Shredder.

In terms of Kombat, they can probably be something of a mix between the shaman, a little bit the Warlock, and obviously the hunter. The turrets can act as support, both in terms of supporting through buffs and heals and as DPS. They can have a summonable pet they choose.

The Spellblade is easy because there is plenty of lore on them. First, we know they can Tank, because of characters like Rhonin .They can be called Spellbreakers. They can have a sword and some kind of off hand as weapon choices.

Their DPS can be called the Sentinel. They can have double-bladed swords and staves as weapon choices.

And they can copy a lot of abilities from the mage, because they’re still mages but melee, and they don’t wear only cloth.

Like Blink, for example.

Obviously, they can have a spell steal.

Runecarver is two simple and spread out throughout all classes to be its own class or even spec. So, making it a big part of the Spellblade is a very good idea.

The Necromancer is known. Frost/Plague can be the DPS, Blood can be the Healer , and Unholy can be the summon undead friends one.

Low-tier Influencer: Oh, Frost/Plague is just going to be a Frost mage or an Affliction warlock.

Yeah, everyone can see you’re only playing the game to make videos at this point.

Most likely, it’s going to be a mix between Shadow Priest and Destruction Warlock. Where you apply plagues on enemies and that buffs your attacks.

Blood can be very interesting. Basically, instead of just spamming heals and buffs, you can also spam debuffs that support.

Low-tier Influencer: Unholy is just a Demonology warlock with a reskin or a death knight with robes.

Is your view count dropping?

First, the Unholy Necromancer can be more versatile in that role because they will still be necromancers and don’t have to deal with the Death Knights design, and the Death Nights don’t have to change so that summoner can work.

The warlock thing is just a giant “I am a casual” sign because the base unit for demons is a ranged DPS, but for the Undead it’s a melee DPS, and their advanced units can be ranged. Also, they can have multiple pets at all time. Maybe they can have something like five pets at all times. 5 skeletons, or 3 skeletons and 2 mage skeletons, or whatever number of ghouls and Undead units. Their other abilities can be about making their pets better.

While not very lore friendly. The Necromancers should have a Lich form.

Tinker should be Goblins, Gnomes, Mechagnomes ONLY

Tinker is already confirmed in my head
But what would necromancer do? Feels like it would mechanically steal a lot from BM hunters and Demo locks since those are already the minion classes

  • Should have gotten Tinkerers instead of Envokers.

I’d rather have a goblin or gnome in a partially customisable “Timbersaw-/Rumble-style” mech-suit rather than an anorexic scaly. Can’t even put more than shoulder and belt transmogs on and are stuck with the one-race visages…

  • While I like Arcane now, they really should have made them a spellblade spec in Legion.

Partially melee, partially ranged. Could have reworked wands and given them one as their artifact.

  • Unholy Death Knights are already Necromancers.

Is it wrong to have the faction options unbalanced? Is there no other Horde race that could come close to being a fellow Tinker?

To be honest, Alliance have at least 4 viable races. The dwarves.

I hardly disagree.
My opinion:
Dwarves - No explanation needed. They also had gnomes around them for a long time.
Gnomes
Draenei - Artificers, Vindicaar NPCs. Romuul, etc.
Orcs - They are good engineers if you remember OG Hellfire Citadel. I think they also improved themselves with the help of Goblins.
Blood Elves - Not a popular opinion, but it seems like everybody has forgotten about Tempest Keep engineers who had plenty of Blood Elf engineers among them such as Sunseeker Engineer NPCs. Lorewise some of these Kael’Thas loyalists probably returned to Silvermoon.
Goblins
Void Elves - Same reason as why Blood Elves could be Tinkers. Were among the ones interested in Void that followed Umbric.
Lightforged Draenei - Artificers.
Dark Iron Dwarves - Plenty of engineers in Blackrock Depths.
Mechagnomes
Mag’har Orcs - Iron Horde. Blackrock Foundry, Hellfire Citadel.

More Alliance races than Horde, but I really couldn’t find good lore reasons for other Horde races.

So true, especially tinker needs to happen. Will never change my main again, if they add tinker.
And yeah, lots of races can be tinkers. However, gnomes/goblins should get sone racial. Tbh, idc whether it’s gnome-only, because gnomes are kinda cool, but it wouldn’t make sense, since dwarves would definitely also fit it. Draenei would be very very weird, because how can you explain spacegoats with spaceships using the same technology as gnome tinkerers. Well… unless you give them a special skin…

(Anyhow, tbc/legion/wod ruined the lore)

Imagine that Blizzard names the Tinker Healer spec Alchemist, and a person who mains it chooses the Alchemist profession. You just can’t call them undedicated.

Are they actually missing? Do we really need them?

Like many others, I sit in anticipation of Blizzard announcing new classes at each new expansion announcement.

But in reality, Blizzard already struggle to handle and balance the classes they do have in the game right now.

I much prefer the way they introduce classes nowadays. When it makes an important addition to the game, rather than just adding classes willinilly.

You can add 3 more classes now, but what about these other 10? Why don’t you add those? It doesn’t really create a well balanced game to play.

These are all interesting potential classes, but it’s finding the right time and place to feed them in. And considering we just had a much more innovative new class introduced, I can’t see them adding another one for at least another 2-3 expansion (4 to 6 years), at which point, I hope innovation comes through again.

I kinda want a bard class, necromancer is super fun too, but honestly a 4th spec for warlocks as necromancer seems a more probable choice.

Spellblade / Spellbreaker is already in, in the form of Blood Elf, Void Elf and Nightborne Warriors.

There is no president for a musician style class in WoW, Runecarver is two simple two be its own class.

The problem with that is that there plenty of human Spellblades like a whole city ,and also there is more two spellblade than looks.

This sort of stuff doesn’t warrant a new class, more of a class-skin per say.

The obvious race for Spellblade would be Blood Elf, so this could be a class-skin for Blood Elf Warriors.

I didn’t Rhonin and the Human Dalaran Guards are Elves.

As much as i can see your point. Itd of been extremely weird to get tinker, in the dragon expansion

It really wouldnt suit the expansion, there would have been 0 reason why tinkers would be found on dragon isles.

This is exactly what I was thinking. If Blizzard is experimenting with adding new spec as the “supposed evoker leak” suggests then adding new specs that alter the visuals and gameplay of a class would honestly be superior to just adding new classes. Necromancer could easily go to warlocks, tinkers could be added onto hunters since they already use guns and bombs and whatnot. Spellblade could work both as a mage or warrior spec, either turning the mage into a close range magical combatant or warrior into a smart warrior. Same with bard, just slap that badboy onto hunter or rogue.

I have the suspicion that evoker’s third spec will be a necromancer. I know, it sounds weird, but hear me out: This additional evoker spec will most likely be themed around the black dragonflight. We know that Neltharion is a necromancer. Have you seen the skeleton evokers during the last campaign quests of the forbidden reach? This might be telling, but it’s pure speculation, and I’m prolly wrong

Tinkers could have engineering unlocked and cannot be unlearnt

I get that, but we do have those Explorer’s League lads running about.

Tinkerers would be great as a “new exploratory class”.
