Well in that case we need to agree to disagree.
I dont see “gear” as the reward. its more like tools to get the job done.
Why people do mythic and M+s above +10(fully knowing that the baseline 400 lvl is capped at +10)? They aim for the challenge. Proving to oneself that I can get it done.
When I do higher m+ or a mythic boss which I dont really need any loot from. I still do them cause I want to finish it in time or kill that mythic boss and be proud of myself. I wouln’t give a rat’s a** if there was 385 or 415 stuff waiting for me at the end.
While loot of course plays an important factor(if mythic raids didnt drop anything at all. Then of course very few people would do them). But sadly I disagree that loot is the main and only thing.
If you don’t raid because of working as part of a team. Overcoming an challenge…instead all you care is the pretty pixels in the end.
Well…lets just agree to disagree then.^^^
Personally, I do content for the sake of fun. If I don’t have fun, I can’t stomach it. No badge or emblem, or points are gonna change that. Loot are not a carrot, or at least not much of it. I deem loot as a reward, worthless the moment I can’t face another dungeon again. Loot is a tool I need to progress. Nothing more. Therefore I do not want to go back to the days where playing less, or being away for a while would lock you out of a lot of relevant content. I’m playing the game for the sake of the visual content and the experience, not the itemlevel of my gear. I’m not repeating anything for that number to go up - that is just a side effect that causes me to actually be able to access current content.
I see some comments to the tune of “what you need the gear for?” and I dont think thats the best approach. Its a videogame, this isnt about what people need, its about what people want.
And people (I) want a shot at better gear. I mostly do bgs, I like to have the (very slim btw) possibility of reducing the 50k hp gap between me and very well geared people.
They are already skilled, since they have the rating for that gear level and on top of that have the gear advantage. It might look fun from 1 side but it’s not from my side.
If you put in the same effort, you’d get the same reward as those players.
Define effort?
well if they put in 1 hour of hard work and get 2 bits of gear its great.
But if someone puts in doing 20 hours of casual content and gets the same gear then its not the same effort.
No, those players do high rated, I’m not skilled for that, I can put much more effort than they doing unranked or low rated and I’ll still be rewarded with far inferior gear.
Why caps every word it makes your post so hard to read .
You are a casual yourself stop try harding to be elitish .
I can understand the 9/9 guy posting here but you are nothing special and have no right to tell what others earn in you condecending tones.
see this is something that a lot of people are mistaken about because they parrot few streamers.
you are mistaking catch up with character progress.
at this point catch up is nothing but a meme - the only ones seeing this as “catch up” are people who dont do that content in first place - while for milions of people its only content they can do .
wow is mmorpgs - people need constant gear progress else they have no reason to play this game. things like WF/TF allow then this progress
what streamers are mad about is the fact that TF has proven beynd anything that people enjoy doing easy content and reciving upgrades from it.
the solutions you see as saver for raid are game destroyers for other crowd.
Casual Players were just fine pre-Legion gearwise. Infact, before MoP? My suggestion here would be a casual one.
were they though ?
clearly not if blizzard decided that first WF and then TF was needed.
you have any proof they were ?
or you tell this because it fits your agenda.
Yes, precisely. Hence why I don’t deserve Mythic raid gear, yet at the moment, I have chances to get it despite doing less than 10% of the effort that Mythic players put in.
Please stop useing the word casual and blaming casuals you are a try hard elitish and want to join the “clique” .
The ideas you have said have been talked about many time before but arrogant condecending people have thankfully no say or right to tell others what the deserve especially wheb your hardly anything yourself.
Im agaisnt tf/wf myself but i wount speak down to people like you .
Its only a very small % that are true mythic raiders.
Players who are CE already or close to it.
People who are 3/9 and i mean no harm on this are not mythic per saa they are still in my books herioc raiders as first 3 fights are easier then Jania herioc.
i dont blame him - i know this arrogancy that comes with early mythic progress. its typical for people who just started doing some mythic bosses.
it passes with time but most people go through this period. hell i was one of those people. in MoP i was elitest and a…hole - what helps for this is time or taking a break from game which puts everything into perspective.
notice how few CE raiders complain about this and how many “midcore” (3-7 bosses ) do. there is a reason for this. and cause.
what i would like to add to this discussion is its time to stop with myths of “casual joe who does lfr is runign around with average itlv of 415”
reality is and i can give here a sample of 13 toons that atm average itlv of someone doing just world content since very beggiing of patch should be somewhere in 388-395 bracket so far below what hc raider has at this point. and we are at the end of tier and near next reset of gear.
i got 1 max 2 of 415-425 items per toon - and all of those were procs from 400 itlv gear not lower. so no average joe is not runing in full mythic gear due to TF.
anyone claiming so is lying or farming mythic + 10 each week and gets procs from there. not from lfr.
I think a cap on Titanforging would be “okayish” on lower content like Heroic or Mythic. The higher your content the higher the cap, a heroic raid should have a higher cap… every affix could increase the cap. Something like that.
For the rest I personally couldn’t care less about some random LFR player having higher itemlevel than me. I usually try to look at my own performance and how to improve it. Being annoyed by other people getting something they “don’t deserve” seems to be weird to me… this doesn’t influence anything but my ego, doesn’t influence my gameplay for sure.
Still I kinda see where the argument comes from and maybe capping titanforging to certain degrees would help.
btw. Myth raiders gear up waaaaaaaay faster and “easier” on higher ilvl and casual joe. Except for single pieces casual joe usually has to play alot of lotterie to increase his gear above a certain level.
I quite like (optimized 5-10 ilvl)forging but i realy dont know why you cant upgrade one of your underdog pieces ones per week via some token to reduce its obsolete randomnes, titanforging itself (ilvl15+) its stupid, of course i want to be done with gear whats the point of race when it never ends ?
I used to watched rally, but i never enjoyed nascar circle, i am sure most Europeans feels the same.
What i totaly hate is random socket system its stupid, boring (i loved to socket my new piece of armor, it was my ritualwhen i truly enjoyed my loot)
op proc which is changing the value of the item drasticaly.
