Cata gems in fairness are very hard to get if you’re referring to the +4 stat - I did a heroic clear of Dragon Soul and I was able to get only 1 epic gem, and it wasn’t even the one i wanted (red / queen’s garnet).
I sometimes purchase these gems from the auction house to cut & sell for timewalking fanatics - the uncut gems usually cost me 1-2k each, and I sell the cut version for ~4k each. And that was before Mage Tower!
The dreadful gear - couldn’t that be replaced with gear from the old raids?
Yeah it’s a damned shame especially in this content drought you’d have thought they’d make something that’s current content. Even recycling old content you shouldn’t have to farm old gear for it. The idea of gear templates would completely negate this issue but that’s too much work for Blizz it seems.
It was easier in legion if you were playing mechanics properly, no matter your gear. Currently, your gear, consumes, and enchants matter a lot not to mention your class/spec. I can tell you I’m struggling on my main which I completed it early on for 2/3 specs and didn’t even try for the 3rd until later because I didn’t like playing that spec, while I completed the current version on some of my alts at level 50. Missing abilities, missing lengendaries honestly makes it feel awful to me in comparison either way.
Should’ve done templates and pick your legendary, and I guarantee you most of the people saying ‘git gud’ probably would’ve struggled considering 90% of them so far boasting that didn’t complete it early on in Legion.
IKR? I’ll leave it at least another week now it’s been extended. Meantime I’ll run SoO a bit, get some sockets.
Admittedly I don’t think I can find people with level 45 alts to funnel me gear but… I’ll take any edge. Plus I always meant to go there for the mogs anyway
But if it’s close to xmas and no change… I guess I won’t be doing MT. I ain’t got that kind of time. I’ve probably got 1000 days played total, but I can’t give it that much in this short a time frame. If Blizz have stopped respecting long-haul subscribers, well, that’s going to become their problem fairly soon.
Unfortunately there will always be some element like this. I remember when the Brawlers Guild came out, you had the people who would all join up in a raid party and buff/ress each other, share tips and tricks. In Contrast you also had the guys who would stand there shouting abuse at people failing while they learnt the fights/tactics.
I ignore the unhelpful comments, there are, of course, good players out there who try to help others and give hints and tips or share what they did to complete harder content. Then there are those who just want to use it as a means to big themselves up putting others down.
At present it feels like they brought this content back for the high end players to have something to do and bring many of the absent streamers back to WoW. It does not feel like something that was brought back for the bulk of the playerbase.
If you can do the Mage Tower now, that’s great, there is always prestige in being able to do this kind of thing early and show off your prowess. That doesn’t mean you need to be mean to others who aren’t as skilled.
