You get publically shamed for trying to be reasonable, that’s what.
People keep saying this and Rotbois keep replying the exact same thing.
“If you aren’t comfortable with it just say it and we’ll go our merry ways”
I dunno it seems like a very easy concept but apparently it’s rather complex.
Oh, log out of your account on the browser and back in. Or log on the old forums and log out and back in or something.
I had that issue with my guild tag.
I’ll be completely honest when I’m saying that I was 100% oblivious to the fact that some people RP’d with the Whiteclaw because they didn’t want to RP with us- Considering the amount of confrontation and spy RP it inspired on both sides.
I thought the distaste was completely IC, before this/the other thread.
But that’s not something to apologize for. At any given point these people could have said “I don’t want to RP with you” but they didn’t.
Stygian Legion RP with a lot of folks and groups that mostly stay away from us- But we have great RP nevertheless, I guess it’s me assuming the best out of the confrontation beforehand.
Danke Schön
Then you’re going to be the source of a four-hundred-post thread on the AD forums when your interaction with both sides eventually leads to those two sides interacting with each other. Duh.
Hey, Rogmasha.
What do you think?
We use OOC communication as a means of resolving a situation that can’t be properly handled IC for whatever reason, preferring to resolve any other character interactions IC as it leads to a more engaging experience overall. If you feel it should be another way, I don’t really know what to say except I’m sorry we don’t accommodate you.
I don’t think this is a fair assessment of Whiteclaw. It may have been this to some extent and for some people, but we also have records of characters (chiefly Rogmasha) planning the group as a means of assassinating key members of the Legion and using the Whiteclaw as a replacement power structure in the Horde. If a fugitive runs, should our characters just ignore them? Not unless we are asked not to.
An incorrect statement, at that. Just because we didn’t RP with any of the communities you may have been involved in, does not mean we failed to interact with the rest of the server. Once more, though, I fail to see what that even had to do with the ongoing discourse.
Made this clear how, exactly? I believe the opposite is true: We have been told several times that certain individuals from the SL did not want to interact with us, bordering on sheer attempts to ignore us. Which is entirely their choice, but we have made no such attempts.
As for meta-ing several times? I have been informed of one occasion in which we were accused of such a thing. Yes, accused. Because upon clarification, I was informed by several parties that said individual involved actually had acted upon information acquired IC. You are free to make of that what you will, but calling me dishonest just because someone else is accused of meta-gaming is, frankly, over the top.
I literally stated that it is the traveling hub organizers rather than the SL who should be looked towards here. Once more, I fail to see what grievous issue you see in my post to make such an accusation.
The main argument I sought to posit was to clarify that my guild (despite not even being involved in the ambush and its consequences) and other Discord communities that were mentioned hardly did any smack talking in the wake of this whole ordeal that happened in Highmountain. I have stated once before that it is irrelevant to me whether or not said communities’ concerns regarding the traveling hub’s plans being thrown under the bus was founded or not. But it was the primary topic being discussed within the communities that are being accused of smack talking. You saw fit to focus purely on that point, yes, but it was never a matter that was even in question to me. It was, by definition, not my viewpoint.
Personally, I find the dynamic between opposing groups compelling and think that people who can’t not make politics out of it OOC need to take a shower.
But hey, I RP’d a kor’kron last time the Horde split so maybe I’m a baddie?
My own thoughts on the matter have been posted above (and apologies on my behalf given in relevant places) already.
See:
I’ve not really gotten anything else to contribute in this discussion since I wasn’t the wronged party; if anything I appear to have been the source of the miscommunication.
In general I’m pretty flexible as a player so I mould and adapt to circumstances as they are, and I don’t particularly fall to either “side” of the argument.
This is likely IC disinformation (which is cool!), just a head’s up.
Really the only thing this thread has taught me is to avoid Rotgarde as a guild. Seriously, virtually every one of their members has been showing nothing but rudeness and full-blown egoism in here.
Well.
There you all have it.
Let’s go and play!
Funny, the way I see it, both sides are offenders in being rude and having bloated egos. None of you are saints.
Oh hey, and we’re back to talking about OOC communication and managing expectations (and throwing criticism at people who aren’t the PCU for good measure, how’s about that?).
That wasn’t the sense most of us had OOC, I don’t think, hence the generally aggrieved feeling. And yes, I appreciate the line between “IC twist in which characters were ICly mislead” and “OOC mismanagement of expectations” is a horrible one to have to draw, but I don’t think that makes people feel any better about it, y’know?
If (garbled metaphor incoming) you’ve chosen to go on a trip somewhere that doesn’t have lions, because you absolutely do not want to see a lion, “Surprise! This Airplane is full of Lions!” is going to leave a bad taste in the mouth.
Maybe they picked the wrong community when it plays host to anti-Sylvanas / anti-PCU avid guerillas who like to poke the bear and then act surprised when they get mauled.
Whether the figureheads condone this behavior or prohibit/ignore it (Such as Kozgugore’s outbursts that are basically Shonn’s PR shenanigans just without the ERP angle at this point) isn’t entirely relevant, given how there’s always one levelheaded pillar who is great to cooperate with.
Funny, the way I see it, both sides are offenders in being rude and having bloated egos. None of you are saints.
I’m looking but I really can’t find any of what you’re saying. Sure, some others have been doubling down on their frankly ridiculous takes about the whole thing, but I can only see Rotgarde members being actively hostile. Their GM, doubly so, it seems he can’t make a post without calling someone ‘inconsequential’ or insulting their intelligence. Not the best of traits for a guild leader.
Ah yes, an outburst. I am literally seething with emotion. Cower before my passion.
Yet the guild is still running
You are quite welcome, Atahalni 120 Tauren Priest.
