There is no other game like World of Warcraft

There’s a sea of MMORPGs out there.
Most of them have a simpler approach to class design, and fewer buttons than World of Warcraft. They are “less bloated”.

This means that, for those who prefer games with fewer buttons, there are a lot of options out there.

But for those of us who actually do enjoy the way WoW is played right now, there is no alternative. When you ask the game to be made easier, you’re ruining the only game that we enjoy.

Please stop asking for World of Warcraft to become like all the 12 button MMOs out there. Those MMORPG already exist. Just go play them, or pick up a Fury Warrior.

WoW is unique and cannot be replaced.
Class design is perfectly fine as it is. Stop it with the silly requests.

I exclusively play arena in this game.
Playing the same game mode 24/7 will not grant you a ton of achievements.

Your argument is invalid.

Asking to change/add/remove unreasonable or stupid “parts” of the game it doesn’t mean people want a easy game. It means people want a game that is a game, not a second job.

It’s stupid to you. It’s nice to me.
But as I said, there’s a sea of 12 button games like Guild Wars 2 for people like you to enjoy.

If your current WoW specialization is too demanding, pick another one, such as Fury Warrior instead of asking for all classes to be dumbed down to Fury Warrior levels.

People can enjoy depth and complexity.
Most people prefer League of Legends to StarCraft II, but that doesn’t mean that StarCraft II should become a 5 button game like League in an attempt to increase its playerbase.

It’s okay to be a niche.

Yeah, 12 buttons is too little. That would bore me. However, I think 20-30 is enough, and more is too much. Not just too much to play, but also to play against. Some specs have like 35-45 and this is just ridiculous. If there is too much bloat, it takes depth away from the game, because humans are not capable of processing the information, so you have to prioritize which information you wanna process.

I disagree. Restoration Shaman is one of the most fun healers in the game because it’s extremely versatile, and for every situation, there are countless ways you can react.

The skill ceiling is very high, and for those who us who enjoy complex games, this is very enjoyable.

You see the issue? If only pve existed, I wouldn’t care as much about total abilities, but more abour rotational ones. Shaman is good for PvE, but in PvP it’s ridiculous to play against.

It’s specializations with low depth and low button counts that make PvP unfun though.
Fury Warrior, BM hunters, DH.

When your team has a Mistweaver, and you get destroyed by a Resto Shaman, you know the Shaman truly deserved his victory and played like a champ.

Where is the nice part of achievements in progress suddenly to vanish and be reset especially when some of them you have 19 out of 20 task completed?
Where is the nice part of bugged achievements (like “Count your Blessings”), achievement reported as broken since the launch of Shadowlands and still not fixed?
Where is the nice part of having a open world with rares that have 15-20 mill HP and one hit you?
And the list goes on …

Typical “medically unfunctional human being” response ( to say it in a polite way). Grow up :)))

WoW “depth and complexity” ? ? ? Hahahahaha…you make me laugh.

Off-topic remarks, insults and mockery. That’s weak.

The Orc Warrior over there is the only one with enough brain power to engage in a civil and respectful discussion.
It must be a PvP players thing. We’re much less toxic than the rest of the community.

Not really the cause though. It’s more likely that people can’t use their 40 abilities properly against a 20 ability spec. The problem is that if you have too many abilities, each ability matters less and it’s too much information for a human brain to process, so you have to focus on less things, which is usually done by setting up your omni bar or wa, so it displays fewer stuff. Do I want it to be simple? No. But controllable without weakauras for a human brain would be nice.
I think faster pace with more damage, and more control with fewer abilities than now would be more fun.

We should discuss with examples.
Can you give me examples of spells you’d like to remove, and others you’d like to keep?

I’ll give you examples of my own.

  • “Poison Cleansing Totem” could be removed from the Shaman talent tree and nobody would notice.
  • “Scare beast” was removed from the game in BFA. While it is a niche spell, good Hunters could use it on Druids to peel their team mates, or punish a fleeing healer. It’s a good spell, that’s basically useless in PvE, but extremely healthy for PvP.

I think for example warlock curses should be simplified into one nerfed curse that summarises all 3. There are too many. Same with affliction warlock ST dots. Else warlock is one of the fine specs.

However, shamans have way too many totems. I believe a shaman should only be able to select 4 totems at once with choice nodes. Not more, unless they get turned into a pure support spec.

I know mages like spell steal, but it forces other classes to macro cancel auras. Spell steal should be changed, so it just dispells people and gives you haste for example per ability dispelled.

Spammable CC with diminish is also a problem. Should mages be able to spam sheep a healer? Why not just put a CD on sheep and make it more powerful? I think diminish should be removed and CC should have longer cooldowns to account for that. This is also easier to track. CDR stuff like shifting power are extremely annoying, when it comes to tracking and understanding.

There are more examples but I cba

I disagree with most of your examples, especially the totems.

  • Warlock curses grant them flexibility. It allows a good warlock to make perfect plays: exhaustion on the warrior, tongue on the mage.
  • Totems are really just cosmetics for flavour. Take “Grounding totem” for example, it could be a normal spell that just immunes your party members to spells for 3 seconds. But it’s a totem. Because it’s a Shaman spell, and Shamans using totems is part of the class fantasy and identity.
  • If we change Spellsteal to work like you described, then it just becomes a normal purge. It loses all flavour, and it removes a lot of outplay potential when stealing specific spells.

A bit off-topic here since you don’t want to remove polymorph, but change its duration/cooldown/overall design.

My thread is specifically me whining about people who want a new ability pruning, like the one that destroyed the game in Legion (worst expansion).

Sounds good in your head, but in practice this results in 9 keybinds for 3 arena targets with each curse, and 12 with curse of agony for affliction. So just curses make up 12 keybinds for affliction locks. It would be better if one curse applied all 3 effects as in a haste reduction + movement speed reduction. This also covers curse of wealness indirectly and makes them stronger vs melee too. Also, locks have to use 3 keybinds for arena123 fear, and mortal coil too, and then warlocks have all their other optional abilities too like banish, enslave demon, etc. Additionally they are one of the hardest specs to kite with for sure in pvp I’d say. It’s too much bloat. Then count in their very complex way to do damage and you see a brainrotten incomprehensible game, whose bloat takes away all the depth, and people pride themselves for having muscle memory for some keybinds. New players also may try to trinket mortal coil, because of the weird horrified cc that makes no sense. (I tried that at least)

Seriously, what is it with so many people recently demanding that people “leave” their public threads in a public forum? Can’t you guys handle different opinions anymore or what?

“Curse of Agony” does not exist. It’s just “Agony” now, and it is no longer considered as part of the “Curse” toolkit.

It would either be extremely obnoxious to play against, or extremely nerfed so it’s not obnoxious, and therefore useless.

Have you noticed how I keep debating with the Orc Warrior, and how I’m not asking him to leave the thread?
That’s because he is the one who’s presenting a different opinion, and trying to defend it with arguments.

The other guy did not come up with arguments, he was trying to trashtalk me on my achievements and my arena rating.
He did not belong here, and I therefore decided to cast him away. Rightfully so.
