Yet you are asking for islam specific religious things to be added. People did read your thread.

Asking for islam specific things is entirely different than some inspired specific nation. Stormwind is a stereotypical fantasy medieval europe nation. Pandaria is china inspired, other asian countries would have different styles for their temples. Northrend is norse and not a generic germanic religion.

You are asking for islam specificly. Things would be different if you for example would be suggesting a Ottoman empire inspired nation on some new continent/world. Or islamic egypt. Or saudi arabia. Or indonesian.

you are too far focused on the religion and not the theme of the nation

The game already has fictional religion(s) ingame (yes, multiple, look it up), no need to add more for the sake of it. I don’t care if it’s muslim, christian, jewish NONE of those should ever be directly in the game.

Using certain stylistic / aesthetical that are commonly used in real life religions, sure, it’s always fine to take inspiration out of that if it fits the game, but then again, thats already the case right now.

Not really ‘falling for a troll’ if the response is “You’re being an idiot, and I am going to tell you why you are an idiot” is it?

Essentially it is more like Counter-Trolling, because then their only response is to pull the “Ha Ha, I was just joking when I said that” card, at which point the response is “Yeah, but we weren’t joking when we said you were an idiot, fool.”

There are also flying carpets, which are inspired by stories from that neck of the woods, not Islam specifically, but that area.

This is also true. When there is a natural disaster or suchlike in the UK (I mean, we don’t get them the way some folks do, but still we do get whole villages flooded and such) You tend to actually find that the Muslim community are one of the first to mobilise in terms of just doing charity work and helping anyone who is suffering, which makes sense, it is a tenet of Islam. (As I understand it, I read an English version of the Qu’ran).
It is one thing that religious communities do tend to do well, at times of crisis. But yeah, whenever something like that happens, you’ll always see a catering van parked up giving out free food to people who need it, provided by the Islamic community.

Thing is, whilst Tolkien himself was a devoted Catholic, simply having Good and Evil as concepts in a story are not inherently Christian, those existed long before Christianity, as did the concept of supernatural entities that were good, and were evil. When I say referencing the War, that is more to do with him specifically saying that the bucolic nature of the Shires, was actually based on, well, the Shires in the UK at the time, which y’know, was pretty spot on. One thing war Related he -did- refute (and I believe him) is this modern conceit that his Orcs were somehow based on the Japanese ‘imagery’ during the War. I mean there was some dreadful visuals going on, racist depictions of Japanese people, especially in US media, proper racist stuff. Unfortunately that happens during War, you have to dehumanise the enemy as much as possible, to make the idea of your young men and women killing them seem more morally palatable. We actually still get it to this day, but in a gentler way. Brits all drink Tea, carry umbrellas and wear bowler hats, French people ride bicycles in stripey T-shirts with strings of onions around their necks.
Both absolute rubbish. But easy stereotypes.

His Orcs were actually just based on ancient legends of Orcs and their description. So yeah, that wasn’t War related.
C.S Lewis however, explicitly -stated- that Aslan was a Jesus figure, in fact doesn’t Jesus actually turn up as well in ‘The Last Battle’?

Also, Wikipedia is not a reliable source. This is why none of the Online Education colleges allow you to cite it in essays.

Ehhh. Tricky. I mean, how modern are you calling ‘modern’ times? I mean I grew up in a time when Christians were quite happy killing -each other- because of -how- they worshipped the same actual God. My own father took an absolute pasting a few times, because he was Protestant and he was dating my mother to be, who is Catholic. Football teams in Scotland are still hotbeds of Protestant/Catholic violence, so it does still happen, and that’s when they worship the -same- God. (I know Christians, Jews and Muslims all worship the same God, but you know what I mean)

Probably because he actually was supposed to be a pretty decent bloke by many accounts, whilst they were mortal enemies on the field, Richard the Lionheart (Now there’s an Alliance name if ever there was one) and Saladin respected each other, and did communicate. Their mutual understanding was such, that when the Crusade Richard was leading had lost momentum, and he was facing rising unrest at home, because his younger brother John ‘Softsword’ (Yeah, the ruler during Robin Hood) was incredibly unpopular, Saladin was like “Yeah, cool, go home in peace, and Jerusalem is important to us both, so it is totally open for Christian Pilgrims to come and visit without hindrance”.

Sort of like Lor’themar Theron going “Yeah, the Sunwell is a big deal, all you Exiles can actually come and visit it” in WoW terms.

I’m not surprised Saladin got a good write up in ‘The Inferno’ as he was a pretty enlightened ruler.

Undeniably true facts. Two Nuclear Warheads have been used in history, both times by a purportedly Christian Nation against a Pagan/Animist nation.

That is true, and I’m glad you mentioned that, as it puts to bed the ridiculous idea that ‘Celts’ is pronounced with a soft ‘c’ as in ‘Selts’. They never really called themselves that anyway, identifying as tribes such as heh, well, the Brigantes.

I thought ‘Paganus’ was more just someone who dwelled outside of a city, In the countryside specifically. Huh, well, every day you learn something new.

I know the origins of the word ‘Druid’ aye, just that the Druids are more famed for being the religious caste of the people we now call Celts, was more where I was angling at.

Also Oh my goodness yes, modern ‘paganism’ has almost nothing in common with how people saw things back then.

You say that, but when I play Chess with my Romantic Interest (Who ironically -is- a Christian unlike myself) over Videocall, we have actually started naming our Bishops, because she has the chessboard at her end, and it is easier than going “So my bishop, no, not that one, the other one, no, you’re pointing at the same one again, the other, other one” So they are the Bishop of Bath and Wells, and the Bishop of Rochester.
Our Chess games are hard work…

This is actually probably one of the most relevant posts here. Certainly moreso than my own.

The Christianity=Deus Vult meme is so overused, and it is never handled well in game, so actually an inclusion of Islam in game (Which isn’t necessary) would almost certainly be handled in a ham-fisted way that is kind of insulting.

It would also be kind of…wrong…in the sense that if we are going by the real life religions, then Christians and Muslims worship the -same- God, so they’d all be the faithful of the Holy Light anyway? I mean, perhaps one of the Muslim posters here can correct me if I am wrong, but I seem to remember Jesus actually gets referenced more times in the Qu’ran, than Mohammed does? (Peace be upon both their names)
So what would be the difference? Stormwind Cathedral is a place for the Faithful. It doesn’t preclude anyone apart from those who don’t worship the Light, surely? Which means in our World, it would be equivalent to a building where Jews, Christians and Muslims could all worship the same God in harmony.

Job done. No need for separate Mosques or Synagogues.

Have you not seen the picture of the American woman clutching an assault carbine in one hand, and a bible in another. Seriously no difference to a Daesh picture of an extremist.

Czernobyl was a nuclear accident, like Three Mile island or Sellafield. They were all nuclear accidents within their -own- country, none of them were nuclear warheads. Seriously, Only twice have nuclear Warheads been used, once at Hiroshima, once at Nagasaki. Never since.

Wish that it were so. America is still a country very driven by the fact that they are “Gods own country”. I mean there are actually Americans who not only think that Jesus was white, but that he was actually American. Now obviously, they are lunatics. But just -saying- a thing doesn’t make it so. Both Republicans and Democrats in the US have a heavy investiture from the Christian groups.

To use my own country as an example, it was deemed Newsworthy that Prince Charles, as heir to the throne, stated that he would break from centuries of tradition, and not have as one of his titles “Defender of THE faith” but would instead be “Defender of Faith”.

Regardless, in 1945, the only time Atomic weapons have been used, the USA very much regarded itself as a Christian country.

1922 onwards in Ireland and the mainland UK.

But that -does- happen. You get it mostly in the US at this point. Abortion clinics get bombs, medical practitioners there get shot, people making videos saying “I will kill for God”. even closer to home it was only last year that the Republic of Ireland -because of Religious reasons!- actually put the rights of victims of non consensual sexual impregnation as a priority.

Thats…pretty horrific…

It’s not quite that clear cut. Yes, as with most armies, the British army does have padres and chaplains. It’s not a ‘bunch’ of them though. They’re actually very rare. They’re not like Imperial Commissars in WH40K. They are a very small group of people, whose job is actually largely counselling, not converting by the sword. They also are not all Christian. Pretty sure there are Sikhs and Muslims in there. It isn’t a Christian unit at all, it is the Army going “Maybe our soldiers would like it if they had someone they could talk to”. I still know a fellow on the inside when it comes to the army, and oddly we were chatting about it on the way to a LARP event a couple of years back.

It doesn’t matter the denomination, or even faith of the Chaplain. Their job is not to proselytise their religion to you, or to the people wherever you are serving. That is not their job at all. They don’t care what your religion is, or even if you are an Atheist, they are there to listen and counsel you if you are having problems, They are your first port of call before you go and talk to your ‘guv’ as in Commanding officer. In fact your Commanding officer will probably recommend you talk to them. They are there to help squaddies who are suffering, not some Deus Vult kodopoop. That isn’t what they do.

They are however very few, the British army does not go to war with a whole bunch of them. There’s probably One of them for every eight hundred soldiers -if that-.

It is better to think of them as mental health counsellors (Which most of them are qualified as).

This is also true. It is never mentioned in the Judaic books, but then there -was- no Christianity or Islam back then. It -is- mentioned in the Bible that Christians and Jews should not fight, and then as the younger of the three constant reference is made to “People of the Book” in the Qu’ran. One of the Surah specifically states, “You shall not make war upon the people of the book, such is hateful in the sight of Allah” so directly forbidding Muslims from killing Christians or Jews simply for their interpretation of the -same damned religion-.

That is the irony. If you kill someone in the name of God. God hates you.

Technically it is Apostasy rather than Heresy, but your point is essentially correct. The Big Three kind of say “Don’t kill each other!”

Yet eh, it happens.

Ah, ty for proving that we are here with an agenda and not actually trying to make an argument.

And like I said, I have nothing against muslim culture being portraid in the game, when it is established as an actual lore religion in the game. Right now we don’t see many if at all races that worship more than one religion (Humans-Light, Nelves-Elune, etc), so it doesn’t make sense to have a mosque because we do not know what religion that is associated in the game. This could change with the introduction of a new race or discovery of a new land where humans worship something akin to islam or the air elementals.

It’s almost as if, like everyone else, you didn’t READ MY THREAD.

  1. Calling me a Karen again its like your 6th time calling me that so thats harrasement and trolling and agaisnt CoC

2.That is another insult i do not have down syndrome and you are mocking my gender AGAIN .

  1. Ive told you time and time again there is a spell checker on the forums as i use it alot with my disablitiy

Lastly i have flagged your post .

I did, but nothing you said is relevant.

I’m not bothered by it because I do not see it as christianity, because its an entirely different religion. The similarities are only there in order to make the reader/player better understand what it is, a term like Bishop is more well known to the masses compared to something like imam, qadi, mufti, mullah, or ayatollah (and yes i had to google them).

Because word islam reaminds of terrorism sadly.

That’s propaganda for you.

Every movie or tv serier portrays islam as pure violence.

I guess everyone forgot pope’s crusades and witch hunts, and crusade wars killed more people than jihad.

All in the name of Jesus.

I am not muslim, actually i do not belong to any religion, because religions are cults.

But people forgot about crusades because it was ‘‘long time ago’’ or ‘‘it doesn’t count,as long as one believes in it’’

Because the game was designed by western people whose culture was revolving around Christian mythology and back then people didn’t really mind religion being shoved everywhere.

Besides, don’t assume that we are fine with it just because it exists. Many people dislike any existing temples IRL but they can’t do anything to get rid of them, and the same goes for the game not to mention if we were getting rid of existing religion in the game we would need to delete the entire game since it’s built on human mythology.

sounds like it :s i thought it was just queens bishop, or kings bishop, or you could just say the black or white bishop, in relation to the squares they move on?

Its not propaganda unfortunately, its reality, wish it wasnt though.

As for the typical crusades card, crusaders themselves werent actually even Christians and all they wanted is to get rich and pillage, nothing to do with Jesus. Also, dont forget Christianity did these things hundreds of years ago and is now matured, while Islam is still threatening and living in middle ages.

Stick to one char when posting and stop spamming so much and people might take you serious again .

There is no harm in asking for more mogs and buildings and the such but you knew full well bringing relegion into the topic would make things heated do not pull the innocent act .

I knew it.

It was long time ago,it doesn’t count or it wasn’t us.

In the name of the church and pope, that’s why crusaders had cross on everything.

‘‘Catholic military campaigns with a promise of spiritual benefit’’ thank God for the google.

Where did i say it doesnt count? It does, Christianity was not in good spot during those ages. But we arent living in those times anymore, while Islam still is…

Yes crusades were called by pope with promise of benefits, but crusaders themselves werent Christians, it was just random people who used it as a chance to get rich, whereas muslims genuinely believe it will lead them to heaven.

Does it matter really ? I mean all religions have bad stuff tied to them. It doesn’t matter if people associate the actions of a religion with bad stuff that people did/do worshiping them. When I see a djinn in wow, terrorist is not the first thing I jump to in my mind.

djinns predate islam tho, djinns cant really be used as such an example

But their appearance in game resembles islamic culture to the common eye. Same for the scimitars the sethrak use, in my head i associate them as muslim. Now its a whole different argument if anyone wants to point out that they could have been the worshipers of that muslim religion, but for the purposes of the story they were trying to tell at the time, that would not have fit due the fact that they worshiped a Loa. And again there is nothing stopping Blizzard to introduce a new nation or continent of sethrak with arabic building and religion in the future. Context matters, asking for something to exist just because is cheap and is what i refer to as forced diversity.

I feel we have some Arabic flavour in the game in various places, as many others have already pointed out.

Blizz takes all sorts of inspiration and gives it’s own twist. No actual religions etc are represented.

It’s a fantasy game, I don’t understand why some can’t just enjoy that.
