Its been the hot topic of the last few days. So a little back story first.
I played WoW 15 years ago and wqs in a succesful Guild, we got some (Horde) firsts on out server, which was a PvE server.
Come to 15 years later, and a few of the old guild decided to start again with classic. They put it to a vote and they voted to play a PvP server, so thats where we all went (get that out there before the “why did you roll on a PvP server then” replies).
Now some classes are fundamentally poor in world PvP, namely mana users, they just wait till you are fighting something else and attack you when low on mana, and you are pretty much screwed.
But one thing, i didnt want to play on a PvP server, not because PvP doesnt interest me, but outside of BG’s there is no PvP, and having played on a PvP server for the last 3 months i stand by that statement.
In all that time i dont think i have actually Player versus Player’d once, i have been ganked when low on HP or mana, have been ganked by players higher level than me, and been ganked when outnumbered (by far the most frequent).
Am i surprised PvP, now with honour, many are complaining, nope, as most servers have more Horde than Alliance the things i just mentioned above only become more apparent the more your server is imbalanced.
I recently moved from a high volume server to a lower pop one (with better balance) because of the above, and would have moved to a PvE if that had been an option.
Anyway, the point was having spent the time on a PvP server there is little Player versus Player involved, its usually a case of outnumber your opponent a d camp somewhere you know they are gonna go, like BRM. The only real PvP takes place in battlegrounds.
So i cant get my head around why putting in honour without them makes sense, if anything it will just alienate players.
