In proper mmorpg playing alternative char should never be this is easy like it is on retail. It should be just like it is on classic wow. Whete most players play 1 or 2 chars max becouse time investment to get 1 char progresses is pretty big. This nonsense where players sit on army of 12+ alts should never be thing.
According to whom?
Thereâs no written rule about how many characters youâre supposed to play, thereâs so little to do in SL besides M+ right now I donât see why you shouldnât level alts to have fun.
Capitalistic western approach, shareholder owned and corporate culture.
The assumption that profit = success, so short term goals, cost cutting where possible, time gating content, lack of long term vision, high cycle rate of staff if targets are not met or saving not achieved.
Use a formula, stick to it and no risk taking. Distance the development from the player base as much as possible. Use the player base for free testing and quality control. Cash cow a product when its not growing anymore.
Its also why the eastern car manufactrers are a massive success and western car manufacturers are failing. Different corporate culture. Did you know eastern companies pay a bonus to staff to find errors and bugs ?
Pandering to Classic players who want new content, but dare not say it on the Classic Forum, because pitchforks.
So they turn up here, pretending that Retail would benefit from returning to a bloated talent tree, when everyone used the cookie cutter build for their class and spec, anywayâŚwhen WQs were called Dailies and Profession GatheringâŚwhen it took you most of an Xpac to reach max level, because travel was so slow, indeed everything took forever, because thatâs deffo not timegating.
Not to mention your character being a nobody, endlessly killing a small number of vultures (contested by other players) for an unpuckered parsons nose, with a very low RNG drop rateâŚso that an NPC could parcel it up and give you a quest, to take it to his granny on the other continent and get a cooking recipe for Piquant SoupâŚso you could make 20 soups and hand those in to the grandson back on the original continent, who would reward you with a BOP green, unsuitable for your class and/or spec.
That is such a specific and narrow view there is no rule book for mmos, all play styles can be accommodated.
Yes there is. Having lot of alts ruin player identity. It also invalidates players effort and removes playet investments aka makes game worse mmorpg game.
Heâs a classic andy troll. He thinks covenants are good because of frictions. Spoilers : nobody likes frictions.
Yes players dont like friction. But they also dont like being bored becouse of lack of friction. Players are not game devs. They dont know what makes game fun.
Weird
Players efforts do not need to be validated by anyone.
Players identity is their business no one else.
Players investment can only be judged by themselves.
It seems like you think you should speak for others on what is right and wong ?
So are you.
Likewise. Guild Halls like those in Guild Wars 2 would do wonders to make guilds feel more engaging and fun in my opinion.
This video is pretty old, but I think it portrays the sheer scope and the possibilities for customization that the guild Halls offer.
I would love to see something like this in WoW. Right now Guild Wars 2 has several different locations you can choose from, with different aesthetics and architecture, which I think would work great for WoW due to how many cool places there are in Azeroth.
Edit: And the best part of Guild Halls is that they would never become obsolete or irrelevant, and could be updated and upgraded continuously, with each expansion adding some new assets, locations and features to them. The possibilities are endless!
In general, getting this 235 will generously boost ur ilvl. And ilvl is important in all aspects of this game. And no matter what you are saying, there is a system implied in this game so that u need to spend 5 weeks in torghast to earn that piece. The problem here is the system. Not if you âneedâ this item or not. To be fair thats not ur concern wether i should get it or not. I litterly do not care if you are using 190 legendarys on ur alts, its not even relevant.
So what are u trying to say? Shadowlands is a good expansion for alts because of m+ ?
All the other >>slow progression<< systems doesnt matter?
So if u dont care about actual subject wich is in this case Torghast, maybe u shouldnt be commenting about it in the first place?
The few selected abilities that got added to the actual game doesnt make up for the broken system that was used for 2 years, to suddenly be removed.
Yes and thats whats this thread is about. Criticising these horrible systems that appearantly is a result of a greedy business model, bringing up new ideas, talking about player experience.
Dude, you dont even have 1.5k achievement in arena, From what i can tell you have absolutely no experience in arena. Your pvp experience belongs in the very bottom of our community. Dont speak about things you have no clue about for everyones sake.
Mate, Im talking about how useless everyones passive damage is in arena.
It has nothing to do with PvE, And once again you have a very low arena experience.
So its kind of feels pointless to discuss a very common and big issue amongst the upper/high end pvp community with you.
I get ur point, and i agree to some extent. But i feel like that era of huge character time investment is completly over when it comes to modern WoW. And in the modern WoW many specs can be feel the same to play.
For example, theres almost no difference between a elemental shaman and a firemage.
Both are very mobile and tanky casters with a huge burst cd, a short cd silence, a basic set of defensives.
And there is almost no difference between a demon hunter and a windwalker monk,
These classes have the same playstyles, wich comes down to class design filosophy, ability bloating, reduced passive damage, while relying more on cd management.
And all of these changes put in together ends up with a very easy product to play.
And for many people sticking to 1 spec will end up being boring, also the fact that there is a huge demand for players to play a meta class. So people will reroll whatever class is strong depending on the content theyre doing.
Yep keep telling that to yourself. These are all core aspect of mmorpg type of games but it seems that you just want single player dungeon crawl simulation with lobby like systems where you can pick w/e char you want and instantly jump into the end game content. No wonder classicis way more popular than retail.
How is it acceptable ? If i want to play elemental shaman i should be necrolord, if i want to play enhance i should be venthyr. In reality this creates a huge problem for me as a player, I need 2 shamans. And i need to do torghast on 2 shamans, and maw dailys on 2 shamans.
Time gating, do u remember? Is this enjoyble content ?
How can u say that this is acceptable ? Why arent you willing to set ur foot down against blizzard and tell them the truth? that this is an absolutly horrible design.
Blizzard developers got tons of feedback regarding covanents during the beta, but they chose to stick their head into the sand and stick with their concept they believed in but the players did not. Wich has lead to massive disappointment in the wow community and many people quitting the game.
Are u delusional or can you see why WoW is falling apart slowly but surely ?
These kind of decisions needs to be taken seriously, and its up to the playerbase to give blizzard feedback on what were ok with and not. Blizzard doesnt respect the time players put into the game.
looks at Anonymous Classic Alt
That whooshing noise is the sound of irony, flying directly over your head.
Peeps: Blizz, give me meaningful choices that greatly deepen my immersion.
Also Peeps: I also want to be able to completely change my meaningful choices between bossesâŚWait, make that be able to change my hugely immersive, meaningful choices between phases of a boss fightâŚthat would be so cool⌠in fact why you give me meaningful choice?!
When I said I wanted meaningful choice⌠what I meant by âmeaningful choiceâ is min/maxing every second of every type of content, in a manner which brings meaning to meâŚnamely, by pwning PvE content and ever other class/spec in PVP at all times, I also want all the utility of every other class and all the cosmetic transmogsâŚHow difficult can it be to achieve that for every class/spec in the game?.. Blizz?..Blizz, why you no talk to me no more.
Indeed. And the reason I dont go play Vanilla or TBC is that PvP there was and is terrible experience if you dont want to play proper specs.
BUt they make meta classes man, so if ur unlucky and didnt pick a meta class, ur toon might be totally useless for the content u wish to doâŚ
its so bad, the only way i can see meta classes being justified is if alll toons u make have the option to take a shortcut to be same item lvl as u main,
You ding max lvl a msg pops on ur screen, do u wish to have same progress on your alt as ur main? or do u want to be a real snail?. then u make ur choise and tada. if u are reroller then ur happy cause ur new meta class is ready!, and if ur a snail u do the snail thingy and u can be a happy and happy snail!.
This end paragraph is the best summary of classic/vanilla wow questing I have ever read. Bravo to you. The joke is most of the time itâs not even a green you get at the end, itâs just the recipie to make more of the âeatable food with no special effectâ you just made that requires the grinding of âspecific mob in zoneâ for some odd item only they drop.
Like, yes, thanks for giving me this recipie to make food that is in no way special over other food, yet requires me to dig up mud from this zone only to make, iâm sure iâll definitely use this again. Oh wait, the vendor sells bread that does the same thing.
