Alright so this is a cute idea but it is so buggy, we have doubled up to do the quest but you get one person other than you and they run off.
The amount of things attacking seems to be trebled today.
You can tell people on our server just gave up as we are here at 6pm and three people doing it?
Okay, I just did this for the first time, and it was frustrating, but after watching a tutorial video I managed to figure it out and I had it done in no time.
When you spot a hungry gromit, click the quest item and throw it at them. This will get their attention. When you get close enough another cookie icon will appear. Click on it to keep feeding the gromit.
When the scavanger mob spawns to attack the gromit DO NOT MOVE. This will cause the critter to run off. The mob will come to you. Once you kill the mob, keep feeding the gromit.
Rinse and repeat until you have 6 happy little gromits.
It’s actually a piece of cake if you know what to do.
If you see someone else already engaged with a mob, join in, you will both get credit. Ignore the flying mobs that spawn, they hit for nothing, carry on chucking the food to the scavenger until fully fed, then run away until you lose aggro.
The quest has been totally reworked in recent patchnote and is now trivial (as every daily should be).
