DF is my least favourite expack since I started in Legion - if it wasn’t for the dragon races I don’t think I’d have a single good thing to say about it.
Uninspiring zones
Professions became too complicated
Hero powers boring, but changed too often meaning hero trees needed to be changed over and ober
Solo content minimal
Warmode effectively dead
Annoying gearing system
Weak mini-patches - 10.1 was poor, 10.2 was garbage
Forgettable story with a tired theme (dragons are as passe as superheroes) and a very anticlimactic finish
Too many on-the-hour type events that became a low fps zergfest because the servers couldn’t handle them.
TWW is so much better - Delves are fun, the story and the characters are better, the zones are more atmospheric, the weeklies are more interesting and the other open-world content is better tuned.
I’m very hyped about housing, but the theme for Midnight doesn’t move the needle for me in any way. I don’t like void. Don’t care much for elves in general and I feel they get enough attention already (although I get why Quel’thalas and Silvermoon need an update - but then again other zones and cities do too).
In fact; until we find out more, I’m less hyped. Because an updated Quel’thalas is all fine, but what about actual new zones? We are hopefully getting a lot more than just an updated zone. Right?
I do think 4 zones isn’t enough. Even though they’re big nowadays, it still feels stingy.
As for the other things you mention; I’m completely fine with those.
I would rather they add features to the actual game, like more delves, more story, more and better zones…
Rather than this extra mini ouside games which are not part of the story or my character whatsoever.
I would say remix was at least in wow and we played the game with a funny power twist and get to revisit old content and had a way to hyper lvl some chars.
Plinderstorm on the other side is completely outside of actuall wow. Maybe they should sit down and see how many people are actually want this and then decide if it is enough to make it a spinoff game.
Well maybe that’s why they do it a second time
Right now both Factions are doing a single storyline = the same with Dragonflight .
If you look …and played the older expansions each faction had specific quest-lore-details-aspects.
We have delves and i’m a delve player but is a game-mode available for 6-8 weeks .( I mean you have 9 weeks do to any content (610 ilvl 9 weeks ago …610 ivl now P: ) and i remember 1st month how you defended and enjoy delves …etc… at the point you barely do them
Raiding ?
1 raid per season 8 bosses and nothing special … i really enjoy ulduar content with hard=modes and specific triggers for them … even mop throne of thunder specific boss and so many others things …(There was creativity )
Dungeon /Mythic + ?? from 14-16 dungeons up to Cataclysm we have now 8 dungeons per expansion and even half of them are from older expansion …talking about creativity .
At the end you pay a sub to play half of the content from older expansion …
Timewalking …bla bla…and redoing all the content .
This kind of died around WoD. Probably as a result of the backlash against the very long final patch of MOP (around a year I believe). MOP was otherwise a very good expansion in terms of lore progression and class design and even the raids were popular.
In WoD they had ambitious ideas but ended up dropped a lot of them as they simply couldn’t develop them in time. So they abandoned WoD and concentrated on Legion. Which did mean Legion was decnt (although deeply flawed).
After Legion they devoted too many resources to areas that were not good for the game, borrowed power systems that were dead ends.
Had they set reasonable amitions and assigned appropriate resources focused in the right areas (more on lore, zones and less on systems and “chores”) then the game would be much healthier today.
They’ve realised that they don’t have the resources required to be creatively ambitious and so have settled on releasing just about enough content at just about as fast as they can to keep players just about engaged.
It’s not inspired but it probably is working, for now.
Legion was a good expansion although I do think it’s deeply flawed also. The AP grind, the Legendary acquisition, Argus. They did fix some of the issues at the time with catch ups but still.
I think the removal of Dailies and introduction of Emissaries was bad. We lost a lot of agency is how we played the game. Instead of choosing a Faction to farm for a few weeks and get Exalted we did what the game told us to do. Four WQs for whatever Emissary was up.
This was the precursor to today’s Weekly Events on timers gameplay. We don’t log in a choose what to do. We log in and the game tells us what we should do that day or week.
Only thing in that list I didn’t like was Argus.
Yes, they dropped the ball with those 3 zones. But on the other hand - it was 3 zones! I could be mistaken, but I don’t think a patch ever introduced 3 new zones?
Anyway, at the end of the day it’s all subjective.
Lots of people disagree with my opinion that TBC was the worst expansion of WoW.
As far as I’m concerned: If Legion had BfA’s zones, it would have been absolutely perfect.
Makes me think… Wouldn’t that be something? A Remix type thing where we get to play through an old expansion’s content and story, but in different zones with different aesthetics and themes. That could be quite glorious (but probably a nightmare to make).
Fore sure.
And most of Legion’s flaws barely impacted upon me so I enjoyed Legion more than Many.
I didn’t care what Legendary I got. I had no desire to farm AP so had whatever I acquired doing other things.
Although I did resent the Emissary basically deciding which faction I could get rep for that day. I missed how in MOP I choose a Faction because it had some Quartermaster rewards and farm that for a few weeks and got my reward.
I kinda agree with Gram as well.
Sure the example of WoW not being a “sausage factory” has its own merrits but for a montly sub…or even longer people should at least have a general idea whats coming in their direction.
“Just pay the montly sub and someday…maybe in a month, maybe in a 6 months…maybe in a year you will get a new patch!” Don’t mind us, we need to take our sweet time to “make it ready” meanwhile you keep showering us with the sub money! K? Tnxbye!
Feel free to disagree but I doubt that would be an improvement.
Huh,they fixed that?? I still get random DC’s
Worst was on bg blitz got dc 3x time on alt had reclimbe to elite(which wasnt hard ,super easy) but still, time lost -200rating
Says someone who plays the lobby game in an expansion widely considered to be the worst for M+ in years if not ever.
The systems and the overall structure are identical, the content cadence is also just boring at this point because it’s insanely formulaic. We have a x.0.7 patch with a small island and a borrowed power grind that will be tossed aside the moment the next patch comes up, we have time-gated stories and a rushed campaign that barely covers anything, and we’re gonna have useless boring content as soon as the second major patch drops and then rinse and repeat for the next expansions that will both be exactly the same.
What’s even worse about the whole world now is that aside from it being 2 insanely boring zones, 1 solid zone and 1 ok zone, it doesn’t feel as designed around sky riding as DF was and feels claustrophobic despite open spaces. It neither feels open nor oppressive (in a good way), it’s the worst combination of both and is just boring as a result. Now we’re gonna get a goblin zone/raid that’s gonna demolish the pacing of the story with a wacky detour no one cares about.
Personally, they killed any hope I had for this game when they announced the saga because it basically necessitates a dull, formulaic, and rushed content schedule similar to what FF does, and similar to what makes FF boring as hell. War Within only confirms this as a rehash of DF which was already on the low end of content compared to juggernauts like Legion that revitalized the entire game.
“borrow power sucks” is the dumbest sentence ever.
Gear is borrowed power every single season, tier sets are borrowed power every season, yet the people who say borrowed power sucks, have no problem grinding the same gear every single season, hoping to get the last missing piece in the vault.
Atleast Legion borrowed power lasted through the entire expansion. Legion was the best expansion released, by far, and its only gone down hill since then.
And yes, TWW is DF v.2, hero talents and delves, woooo. Other than that its the same garbage from DF, tons of dumb events with silly rewards.
If Shadowlands was the afterlife and Dragonflight was dragons, then The War Within is…?
We start out with an intro quest involving Ethereals and Xal’atath.
Then we transition to Earthen society.
Go to the Arathi Human expedition.
Travel to the spider kingdom of Azj-Kahet.
Go to a Kul Tiran discovered Vrykul island.
And are about to explore the Goblin capital city of Undermine.
And if I look at the roadmap, then there is something remniscent of N’zoth on the horizon, and probably something to do with the Harrornir and The Rootlands for the final Season.
That’s a hodgepodge of an expansion if I ever saw one.
I would say the theme is stuff that’s under the earth except the island ofcourse but they even admitted it’s a leftover BFA thing.
And it fits the Titel of the expansion. We had a war with the spiders. Not that it was particularly well written but that’s a topic for another day.
In undermined we will have some kind of ear against gallywix. That atelast fits the war within the earth theme.
I personally hope they twist it from war within the planet into war within our own ranks with season three to build up for midnight
Title suggests a War Within the planet, which is what’s happening at this point, but not really defined by the small conflicts, but on a grand scale between the Void and Light.
I don’t know, this is what I understand at least
I prefer The Bugs Within, it’s very fitting, in more than one way
