This expansion will crash harder than any before

HEAVY ilvl restrictions. M+ the most casual unfriendly its ever been. PvP as well. Raiding we dont even talk about. For a casual its either boosting or get your covenant armor and eat grass.
Also almost 0 content for casuals. Professions non existent.

A bit more dramatic cause its hitting me hard. I love this game and the issues are so obvious i have to write it like this cause its the truth. Im a hardcore WoW fan, played since TBC, went from mega casual to casual, then to semi hardcore getting Cutting Edge in HFC, all Legion and Uldir. After Uldir i quit until mid 8.2 and then came back as a semi casual.

Now what i can tell you is that this expansion feels the absolute worst. I HATED BFA, however, that was mostly due to class design and some other issues like boring islands and warfronts. I played full WoD as well and in retrospective i loved i quite much, though the content was obviously lacking.

But this expansion was a BOMB in my face. You could go and delete the current world and replace it with an app where you queue into raid/pvp/instances and it wouldnt change much. Where is the WORLD of Warcraft?
So much LORE and WORLD out there, UNUSED. How hard is it to use existing assets, areas in the old world and make them relevant with some quests, professions and other small stuff? Everything in this expansion feels so empty and shallow in makes me truly depressed, while WoW was always some kind of escape back in schoon (TBC - MoP days).

The saddest thing is, the simple loot fix aka valor points will most likely come. But it wont fix the shallow- and emptiness this expansion gives. This is Diablocraft Fantasyland, but not World of Warcraft.

I say all this cause i love the universe and game and want it to do better. The very vast majority wont take a look into the forums and just let the sub expire.

No. You simply accused me that I attacked somebody for leaving a video game. Anyone is free to leave at whatever time they want. But that doesnā€™t mean it automatically becomes a ā€œdeath sentenceā€ to WoW or Blizz in general.

The forums are mostly used by ā€œJohn Bā€™sā€. John Aā€™s as they say ā€œare too busy playing the gameā€. And even if a John A comes to the forums and praises WoW for whatever reason. Just look at that one other thread(wonā€™t link it) where somebody is kinda praising WoW. ā€œomg U drunk? SHill! Fan boy! Stop smookingā€¦stuffā€ and etc.
Criticize and hate something = the norm. The hive-mind agrees.
Like something? = BURN THE HERETIC!!! The hive-mind disagrees! (one of other reasons why I like the forums. Find it fun to have my own opinion and refuse to bend the knee to the hive-mind  )

Isnā€™t that what happens every expansion? Players do their quests, gear up, do some raiding, then stop? Thatā€™s been the case for eternity.

theres no ilevel requirement on M+. u can enter it at any ilevel.

the Playerbase set the standard

5 million people quit in WoD. I liked the expansion and they did many things right. But it was still a trainwreck, as you could see the internal problems from 100 miles.

PUG unfriendly doesnā€™t mean casual unfriendly. My friend started playing WoW with SL and he started tanking. With 0 experience, he did quite good. So the problem is not that itā€™s not casual enough, but the fact, that the dungeons are designed to prefer ranged teams with good burts and tanks with strong kite abilities ie.: mages, VDHs, BDruidsā€¦

Also it also doesnā€™t help that I have the nagging feeling that they balanced the dungeons around Raiding gear which is a lot higher than the best M+ gear that can drop.

Agree, I was excited to do some LW, then I realised thereā€™s 0 reason to do soā€¦ Crafting 75 lego piece to increase my crafting lvl? No thanksā€¦

Youā€™re talking from the bottom of my heart <3

i cant wait for 9.1 More torghast more maw, more raids, more dungeons more story

Every product has its ā€œgolden ageā€ and decline. Nothing stays ā€œkingā€ for ever. You can research basic economics yourself about a ā€œlife span of any commercial productā€. What some people fail to realize. Even if Ion comes knocking at your door and personally makes WoW precisely as you want it. Make it TBC/Wotlk 2.0ā€¦what ever. It will still NOT regain the 12M subs. That era. The MMORPG era has passedā€¦

Finally we can agree about something.

I assumed the passive-agressive tone with the popcorn and chair was a dead giveaway. :stuck_out_tongue:

You forget that WoW got back millions of subscribers in the launch of WoD, just to fall down because of the issues mentioned aka no content or abandoning of casuals. Back then however it was an internal problem most likely due to the testing of 1 year expansions and mismanaging of garrisons.

Shadowlands however feels designed for hardcore players by CHOICE. Their team is bigger than ever and have now many years and 2 expansions training behind them to know better and push out great content. Yet its degrading and sucking its soul out of the game.

The big interest in Shadowlands by subs (just like WoD) tells you that there is a HUGE amount of people that love this universe and world but get let down by its systems and content behind it. And all this with probably the HIGHEST monetary requirement to get into a MMORPG.

And while it might have sounded differently, the game obviously wont shut down this expansions but will receive a big BLOW which might indicate a hard decline in many ways.

And Legion &BfA also had some quite nice expansion sales records. Only for the subs to start drooping down afterwards. The ā€œnew expansion hype trainā€ are still a formidable forceā€¦donā€™t underestimate that ^^^

I mean the loot system is depressing more than anything.
The loot acquisition rate is fine, i donā€™t mind fewer pieces of loot at all, but the randomness of it, vault raids everything, itā€™s horrible.
A point system like for pvp would easily fix this.

And itā€™s very alt unfriendly, i can barely farm soul ash on my main, i donā€™t even want to think about doing it on an undergeared alt.

I highly doubt this whatever they may be saying. With how little and lacking SL feels, Iā€™d much rather say their team is smaller than ever, but thatā€™s not very encouraging to say to your customers.

I honestly donā€™t know who it was for except for people foaming at the mouth hating BFA, and even then it isnā€™t a huge departure but it was enough to make them start spamming ā€œbest xpac evarā€ which theyā€™re still doing.

Hardcore raiders donā€™t seem to be having a time of their life either with how overtuned Nathria is and low drop rates, so I really donā€™t know whoā€™s the target audience here and why even have one when a game of this scope canā€™t afford to exclude huge groups of people.

Spot the differences, lack of motivation to keep playing due lack of reward vs due lack of content, i see no difference whatsoever.

You arent forced to play or be subbed whole expansion, even Ion said that people play new content for few months, then can leave and return on next patch, that is natural thing. Every single expansion had this, just one group complaining, then other group and so on. Just because you dont like the game, dont mean others dont like.

i think a large reason stuff like these posts get so much critic is because everyone has this huge need to Say their opinons are shared by everyone.

which is why i can Appreciate posts like urs which do directly state your opinons on the expansion.

at the end of the day, a Larger % of the playerbase mythic raid then they do use a forums and no matter how hard u wanna beleive u arent alone in ur opinons (and no ones completely alone) theres no way u know the 99% of people who voice nothing of their opinons. Thoughts on the expansion.

For example if i was going to quit SL itā€™d be because

I feel the end game loop is Still alt unfriendly, theyā€™ve made catch up on a few borrowed powers easier but with the time demand to gear even reasonablyā€¦ its not alt unfriendly.

Making old content harder for 0 reason.

Target Capping classes, but going even further to only target capping some classesā€¦ it botchs the entire damn process

we are at a Point where DKs, Spriests and more are in a weird place where they require a larger pull then their other DPS can do anything on to actually reach their numbersā€¦which is ridiculous.

M+ Nerfs were overboard.

Spiteful and Storming feel Unnessercarily Melee unfriendly.

Newest Raid being Buggy AF.

Torghast being a complete let down to alot of the classes with very few being actually enjoyable in the enviroment.

Nothing done about the boosting problems.

I aint gonna proclaim i got a army behind me ready to quit with me though its ridiculous to beleive you do, if u dislike the game State your Opinons on the matter, teres no need to go so far withthe statement.

the people that agree with you wil comment.

Iā€™m bored out of my mind most times with it and my guild is 95% dead, but Iā€™m keeping the renown stuff updated as Iā€™ll need that down the line.

I never read about bigger shifts of the WoW team since they doubled in WoD ā†’ Legion except smaller leavings. But yes it DEFINITELY feels like they are smaller than ever. More like 1/4 of the former team. This is the only explanation i have.

In some way i dream that Tom Chilton the former game director who left WoW for ā€œanotherā€ project is working on WoW 2 and a lot of resources are allocated to that, which is why WoW is lacking so much.
But i know its not true as it wouldve been noticed in some way.

iā€™d actually say the problem is this game has a Community which throws in 1000 Directions at the same time. the quantity of opinons blizz has is Undeniable.

For example.

Throughout Legion and BFA Everyone was moaning

theres too much loot,
it has too little meaning.
Solo gameplay is too Easy
Legendaries are too RNG.
LFR is too Rewarding.
M+ Is too Rewarding.
WF/TF Shouldnt exist.
Void Form Priest is the Worst creation on this side of the planet.
the Pruning Is Horrific etc etc
too much Open world content!! too much content requiring me to log in every day!!

As soon as SL Announced.

Reprune the game now!!!
M+ Feels Worthless!.
Torghast is too hard for solo content
Torghast is Elitist!.
Not enough to do!
Open world feels less rewarding!

the thread generation on both of these fronts during all these expansions ahve been just as Large. Just as frantic. and have all proclaimed to be a majority in those opinons.

yet every time blizzard Fronts up and changes based on the feedback provided, We rotate to the next catagory of players Who now have a problem with these changes.

WoW is a Rotating circle of catagories, which in turn complain about the Changes happening due to the feedback prior it.

you gonna ahve to acceptā€¦ SL did exactly what the community at the time on these forums were demanding.

We DEMANDED less content we felt we had to do.
we DEMANDED the removal of WF and TF.
we DEMANDED the removal of Void form priest.
we DEMANDED the removal of Corruption
we DEMANDED Torghast to be very hard.
we DEMANDED a reduction in loot.
we DEMANDED the pruning to be reversed.
we DEMANDED the removal of infinite grinds.

these were all demands coming into SL this is what the playerbase at the time on these forums were screeching. SL Matchs a Fix to every one of these

  • Open world did get alot less mandatory, and Elements of it got harder.
  • We saw removal of All corruption / Warforging / Titanforging.
  • Loot got rarer, removal of bonus rolls.
  • LFR has over time since BFA got less and less rewarding.
  • M+ Did get nerfed.
  • We did see returning abilities (prolly not enough though)

like if u go to BFAs feedbackā€¦ uā€™ll see we asked for this to happenā€¦ the community wanted these changes, the problem isā€¦ now its Upset the playerbase of ur Mindset.
