This game is awful

OK then see ya.

Obligatory gimme your stuff

The casuals demanded welfare gear, so RNG is necessary. Without RNG everyone would be geared out within 2 weeks. As far as I’m concerned there shouldn’t even be a “weekly chest” for doing one dungeon a week.

Bad M+ chest rant. Moving on.

^ Almost every slot filled with 475 m15 weekly. Come back once you get 8 belts in a row instead of getting lucky enough to get one piece in every slot.

You need to spread your chances. 4 hands and 4 rings!

Honestly, I find it kind of odd how you’re going to be angry about not getting the best corruption on your gear. If you’ve been playing actively, I do not believe that you don’t have at least a single piece of corruption that is good. I simply don’t. And in case that’s actually true for you, you haven’t been playing actively.

What is with this obsession of getting mad with random procs? Are you someone who plays WoW for a living? Someone who does content where you absolutely need to have very good corruptions? I doubt it. You’re probably just projecting onto the corruption system because you’re not that good at the game, and you believe that corruption is making the difference between someone who is good and someone who isn’t.

Alt post and RNG is RNG. Moving on.

Also 6/10 isn’t almost all, math and all that.

ye I forgot that the 470 ring from a mythic 12 isn’t from the box /s

Rng is indeed rng but if you don’t get screwed over you haven’t experienced the other side of the coin. So to speak.

I had a 435 from August til 8.3 landed. I VERY MUCH know what RNG is. But if anything this current patch offers an extra layer of protection against RNG through Visions.

Oh man did you hit a nail on the head.
From patch to patch same people are doing world first raid, world top M+ keys, having the highest rating in PvP, its always the same people. And all the time we have people on this forum complaining about how RNG is preventing them from achieving whatever. So maybe those people at the top are perpetually lucky, or maybe just maybe the OP is bad.

I never liked it. I liked how it was old times- you wanted a gear, you ran dungeons. You saw what each bosses dropped, so you knew that you have 20% chance to get the thing you needed.

This game is supposed to be fun. Those who play professionally will always find a way, if they get unlucky with corruptions they will give 200e for gold and buy bis corruptions from auction house. Is that how the game should work? You should ask all those highest rated players what they think of bfa and this system, I’m sure they all love it.

I have more rating on my third alt then you will ever be able to achieve on your main, so yea that ain’t it chief.

It actually does make a big difference. This corruption system has much more impact on power than titanforging ever did. You can put the best player in the world against someone who is just decent, and if that player outgears him a lot he will win 9 out of 10 times purely based on gear, especially now when the skill cap of most classes is at an all time low.

This is what many people forget about the “professional” scene. They buy it from the AH if needed with having loans upon loans.

I’ve in the past shamefully gotten dragged into the PVP vs PVE spat and nonsense. Mainly cos of double standards and insane demands afaic, from the PVP community. Mainly because on principle I ABHOR exclusivity in items etc, it’s a waste of resources imho and I won’t change my mind on that. But I don’t think for a second that the current demands and complaints of the PVP community are in any way unreasonable or unfair. I’m looking at the PVE aspect mostly though, so you’ll have to excuse me.

As I see it and as others stated, if you are getting showered in these kinds of lolrandom drops in content and are getting great upgrades and biggar numberers, it’s all fine to you and you can increasingly faceroll. If you’re not then it just makes the time-gates and lockouts etc, demoralising when you get a bad string of luck. It’s burning players out while rewarding others for being “lucky”

Yes, RNG is a core factor in all RPG’s, in MMO’s time-gating is necessary to SOME degree. But an over reliance and a bad synergy with systems and you get this, this horrible mess. As for the “You aren’t doing the content to need x” it’s an interesting response. See, for me I always tend to be driven towards being as useful as I can be to any group, regardless of content. A part of that is gearing. To some degree, warforged and titanforging allowed a long term improvement while doing non current content and kept me in those queues or looking for those groups, but it was so lolrandom that it seemed silly and the rewards were never really worth it, rather than offering us a way to control the progression, it is and was all left up to the rng gods. I am sick to the eye teeth of that reliance personally. It’s too much.

I need options to be able to control my character growth even if it means lagging behind current content and being chill. If not, I lose interest or feel forced to take part in the frankly boring grind of current content and the increased pressure of performance that can become annoying to me. Titan and warforging however, because of their reliance on RNG, doesn’t satisfy that need sufficiently, I need some control even if it costs time. This is why I see it as antithetical. If the options are, do the content like the rest of us and like it, or don’t do the content. Well I’ll just let my sub lapse again. That might be the occams razor solution but it’s got about the same depth as a puddle, or a “give me your stuff when you leave” it’s got no real value and encourages no real discussion.

I suggest something radical. Remove raid lockouts on non current content. Let people spam them to their hearts content. Current remains current, previous remains a playground with rewards. Never did understand why they had to keep lockouts on non current content aside from “better luck next time buddy, step on up next week for a chance to win something you want”

To me, that was the natural solution to the content drought problem, stop making your (non current) content useless more than once a week. I’d gladly do a few 10 mans of the previous tier raids for some potential rewards, even if they had a titanforging system. If it wasn’t something I could do only once a week. In the very least it’ll prevent that gearing plateau issue that I commonly find myself in once I’ve spammed enough dungeons and am looking for something more than a rando LFR.

Again, either timegating is reduced, or the lolrandom is reduced. But one has to be greatly diminished if the game is to be any long term source of enjoyment for me. But again, just my 2c.

I remember last time someone told me that “but AZ u [proffanity here] knw f o’ pvp try arena u cn[‘cough’]”

… I logged ot game, got 2.2k went back to thread and asked if he has more ‘challenges’ for me ? He himself had 1.400 on 3v3, was a human ret paladin attacking my dk-rear-end in season where frost Dks were lowest of low underdogs.

Morale of the story? People achieve things in this game generally because they want to achieve them. And often do not achieve things because they do not even try.

Also I am sure my death knights avoidance makes 5 mask visions harder for me than 99% of people posting here that do have aoe or best corruptions for their spec. And I tell you what is worst thing about corruptions. They demotivate people from trying. Because they are RNG and have too much impact for peoples performance.

I have done with my stupid avoidance corruption purple log in hivemind - where every DK in log seems to have … yup TD. And on the hc raid where my dk had 3 other dks- all 2 almost beat me because of TD procs and one of them just sailed away from my reach because he was a mythic geared TD hero. Why should I even bother to give my best ? Or try ? Why ?

And this impact of corruptions is even worse in PvP. The impact of players morale they have.

I think the two main problems with the corruption-system are the fact that they are completely unbalanced (with several outright trash-corruptions), and have several tiers. So you not only need the correct corruption, but ALSO the correct tier…all while the item needs to be corrupted in the first place. So, you have an RNG-layer, upon another layer upon yet another layer.

If there would have only been a single tier and every corruption gives you roughly the same value (with maybe marginal difference like a few hundred or maybe one thousand DPS) it could have been a nice bonus system.

Another alternative was already stated in the thread: Let us purge corrupted-items which in turn give us a currency, which allows us to buy a certain type of corruption with higher tiers being more expensive. (Or outright remove all tiers.)

While obviously everyone can play better, especially world firsts have spended millions and millions on the AH on good corruption items.
And just in my class discord there are several who give the advice to buy (ineffitable, or what is the name) on the AH because it is hard to get.

They think you get dopamine releases when the RNG gets it right for you, which will make you play longer.

Reality is often disappointing however, and this is not the reality of the situation.

The reality of the situation is, in fact, no matter how long I farm specific content for a specific item that I want, I get absolutely no dopamine and no sense or any form of accomplishment after receiving my item.

A sense of accomplishment comes after receiving something you have worked for, I never worked for any items that I have, I merely rolled the dice the right way to get them.

And this data is coming from a level 23 gnome. Great. Show me where a “decent” player beats a rank 1 gladiator in a 1v1 just because the decent player has better corruptions. Or the same in PvE, although I’m not sure what counts as a decent player in your mind.

Most of you have no idea what it means to be the best at something, because you’re not even close. You’re at best mediocre which doesn’t mean much and then you start finding excuses for your mediocrity outside of your own ability, which often leads to conclusions such as “it’s the gearing system, that’s why I’m not as good!”.

They spent gold this patch. And even Blizzard said they messed up with BoEs with corruption. But Method has been in World Firsts races since forever. My point is if you are a good player WoW is rewarding to you, and all these complains come from people looking for reasons why their logs are green.
