This Is Follow the Meta Or Quit Kind Of Game

I just don’t understand how they just make changes, nerfs & buffs to specs and leaves them untouched for months of not the entire expansion whether they made them weak or not

sometimes looking at it and thinking that the Devs just don’t care about their players who play and prefer that spec who they destroyed or made it irrelevant

I feel like they want you to follow the meta, if not, then no single … is given about you

look at DKs, frost is in a horrible spot pvp, did they care ? absolutely not
look at Guardian Druid
look at Vengeance DH
look at Enh shamans

I didn’t mention the above examples out of the blow, no, i played all the mentioned classes\sepcs and the gap difference of how weak they compare to the the rest is just laughable

you will say that this isn’t much of balance problem, but there are players who play and prefer only that class\spec and it’s just sad how they leave the rest hanging

Either follow the meta or quit kinda game

fairly obvious really, its to encourage you to try out new specs and classes and possibly end up surprised at how much you enjoy them more than your previous main.
Change for changes sake isn’t always a winner but it does provoke discovery.

Varying the flavour of the month (season) is good for Blizz; people’s class drops to the bottom of the stack, so they reroll. Then a while later, that class drops, so they reroll. More people constantly re-treading the levelling path inflates logged-in time and ensures that legitimately new players find some company.

On the other hand, the devs have been kicking enh shamans in the rocks ever since TBC. I like the class fantasy, but it always seems to be in a bad spot and I can never see me going back to it.

good point, but that’s not always the case, this drives some players mad to see their main in such state

if their class/spec is bad = game is unfun

yea, but for those who grinded rep and achievements on their main class and don’t want to reroll for another class or hate leveling from the start either for that reason or another, this makes them unhappy and overall get mad at the devs

Devs don’t care how happy you are unless you unsub because of it. If you’re still hanging around, even if you’re grumbling on the forums, that’s fine from their perspective.

Problem is, WoW has such a long history that for many people it is a legitimate part of life and unsubbing feels like you’re walking out on a bunch of friends. Because in many cases, you are.

Still though… people are leaving. Blizz need to not rely on social factors to keep their players and actually consider making the game more fun. Class balance would indeed be a big factor for many, since a lot of players enjoy having alts even if they only have one raiding character.

It’s pretty simple, it’s not possible to balance all specs while also making every spec feel special and unique.

If you remove rogues shroud, sap and stealth and add an AoE stun it feels like playing a WW monk.

If you remove druids treants and remove shadows shadow form madness thingy, they’re just generic multi dotting class 1 and generic multi dotting class 2.

Furthermore, the game is the most balanced it has probably ever been. All classes are within 5% of the average, that’s insanely good.

I play the class I like whether it’s strong or weak. Some will change every time the FOTM changes.

WoW is cyclical and some classes/specs will always have to take a turn at the bottom.
I don’t think the unicorn that is perfect class balance is even achievable.

Depends on what content you’re doing.

It’s best if you can find a class where you like more than just one spec as you never know when your favourite spec is going to be chosen for a vacation on the trash pile.

bad at survivability and defense, no mitigation, whenever i play it in mythic+ i feel i can’t do much to survive unlike the rest of the tanks, all its good at is kiting

VDH IS DYING AS A SPEC

These blogs are quite old, but they give a nice insight into the development side of things and are worth reading if you’re curious (of course, given their age, things may have changed since, so keep that in mind too):

Thanks for the info, i haven’t dared to tank any higher keys yet lol :grimacing:

Arms and prot are pretty strong in m+, and fury is good for raids, I don’t get what you meant by that.

Comparatively to some expansions in the past and vanilla, the difference is much smaller.

The only thing that changed is how high M+ really exacerbates the existing problems and highlights them in an environment where their increased strength also results in increased rewards. Something that used to be the case only for the isolated environment of Arena PvP in the past.

Arms is in a horrible spot right now. It’s arguably the worst spec for PvP in the game, it’s terrible in the raid and this is after an “8%” buff. It’s only redeeming feature is some decent AoE burst for 6 seconds out of every 90.

As I said, arms is decent for m+ for their massive AoE, for PvP you need a healer, I wouldn’t say it’s anywhere near worst. For raiding it’s okay, but fury can probably do better. But it’s not bad at all, not bad enough to complain about it.

I think people get far too worked up about this sort of thing. Unless you are doing pvp or high mythic raiding, then all class specs are viable. There is nothing in this game you can’t achieve outside of that with whatever spec you want to play as. They are much more closely balanced than ever before. Back in my day you literally COULD NOT contribute meaningfully unless you were a certain spec.

Do some specs have slight advantages? Of course. But I play a Guardian Druid and while I wouldn’t say no to a bit more damage and threat, the biggest limitation on what I can achieve in game is my time available to play and the performance of my computer. Being a Guardian Druid does not hold me back.

I pretty much do this, although if Tinker really is released in the next expansion then that will be the only time I purposely play FOTM as the new class usually is FOTM.

I’ve spent so much gold reforging my characters because I bounce between specs like the weather, it should really be a fixed price for that.
