This is why Holy Paladin NEEDS A NERF in PvP

So I have been doing a bunch of calculations looking into what shadowlands will bring for holy paladins in pvp.
Based on their kit alone they are unreasonably powerful.
The core strengths being the amount and strength of their cooldowns.
They are extremely enabling for both melees and casters with things like freedom for melees and the upcoming concentration aura, which with aura mastery will basically make casters immune to kicks and other forms of cast breakers while many casters already have build in immunities.
They themselves have a kick immunity when chosen in pvp talents.

In addition we are facing strong defensives like BoP and Sac which can be given to allies (on a side note sac can break you out of soft cc which is extremely powerful in pvp).

Holy Paladins have decent offensive (consistent pressure) and are a form of instant/direct healers with lot’s of big saving cooldowns.

Shadowlands comes with a fast game paste when it comes down to arena, which amplifies the essentially strong cooldowns of holy paladins.
This makes mana costs less important.

The strength of pvp talents is unmatched by any other class:
Divine Favor being a interrupt immunity.
Blessed Hands increasing your BoP and Freedom charges (especially strong against melees and even bleeds).
Ultimate Sacrifice increasing the damage transfer to 100% making it one of the strongest defenses that can be given to other players.
Paladins also have PvP Talents like Divine Vision, which reduces shadow damage to your team, essentially adding to their potential to counter classes (shadow priest and affliction warlock especially).
Cleanse the Weak counters the Disease and Poison classes.

One of the strongest tools Holy Paladin gets with shadownlands in pvp is the soulbind called Familiar Predicaments which reduces the incoming interrupt, snare and root duration by 25% (Venthyr soulbind).
This does stack with the 30% shorter interrupts and silences that you gain from concentration aura.

The Conduits of Holy Paladin are quite strong as well (as example Untampered Dedication which increases Light of the Matyr’s usage by an absurd amount).

Now someone might not see the strengths here, so let me give you a QUICK OVERVIEW:

  • Super Adaptable to matchups / Class Countering
  • Strong Cooldowns
  • Big amount of Cooldowns
  • Interrupt Resistance
  • Strongly Enabling of other Classes
  • Decent Damage Output

Not adaptable at all, casters are legit counter.
Strong cooldowns but no sustain without them.
Big amounts of cooldowns? Wings and Aura mastery on 2-3 min cd
Iterrupt res ^ 3min cd
only enabling melee classes with freedom and thats against teams without purge
Damage output at a cost of overextending heavily with no mobility to fall back on
Pog

Gotta love them trolls

Strong and dispellable cooldowns.

Dh, Hunter, Mage, Priest, Lock, Shaman can purge, however looking at other classes like fire mage which has one cooldown he relies on that can be purged, holy paladin still looks like it has a overloaded strong kit.

Guys he got alot of exp in pvp and post on his vulpera, can’t be a troll then : )

Why do calculations there are thousands and thousands more games from the Shadowlands beta that says the same thing Holy Paladin really isnt anywhere near the top when it comes to PvP. I could go into more details but I really don’t wanna waste anymore time than I have already wasted on an obvious troll with no clue on the actual game.

This must be totaly true, random vulpera at 19 lvl must be right, and all those people playing beta for months ranking paladins as B tier in pvp are simply wrong…

Poor druids and priests when they realize they arent S tier anymore because some vulpera said so, sad times for them

I would love the guys that disagree to actually give an opinion and arguments rather than just making fun :woman_shrugging:t3:

Holy paladin has his clear weaknesses in pvp. His cc capability sucks ,overtime healing is non-existant, hps of his instant spells is laughtable, offensive dispel is removing most of his big cds, mobility is not great at all and also his capability to heal efficently and effectively is heavyly reduced when his enemy is out of paladins melee range or when his teamate is too far. I am not holypaladin btw, but these are most obvious. Btw when the monk is your main i could agree… the monk is not very anti-paladin class at all as you can see, while priest/rogue/mage are nemessis of holy paladin

You fail at the very basic premise when it comes to wow and pvp balance so taking what you say seriously is hard.

Amen brother.

Divine Favor is dispellable by many classes in the game…
Bop and Freedom is dispellable too…
Ultimate Sac is good but the paladin also takes the damage instead

Divine Vision is not all shadow damage only dots, this also used to be bugged in BG’s if you die once you don’t get the buff back making it useless/not working.

Cleanse the weak is bad now because we don’t have fast cast holy light’s anymore.
Not to mention no paladin really uses this anymore after they changed it from all healing into holy light because the Rogue/DK can apply the debuffs faster than you can remove them with holy light.

Not to mention half our pvp talents are actually trash, like legit only 2-3 options are available now because infusion was ruined… No more Light’s Grace, No more Avenging light etc… because holy light is like a 2.5 Sec cast.

1st of all thx for an actually constructive contribution.
2nd It sounds like it is not as much of a kit problem and more of a number problem
Because the kit is super strong and the only issue is that his direct healing might not be insane, however this still means that any buff can instantly make hpal waaaay to strong since his kit seems still very good.

And again thank you for actually being constructive

Yep-Yep-Yep. Yep. Yeppy.

I see your points other than “this was bugged” since a bug is not really related to the kit or strength but is rather a temporal problem that should get fixed.
When it comes to dispels many classes can get purged.
Major healing cooldowns, some defensives and even burst buffs (let’s not mention procs since on some classes they are less impactful than on others)

I think HPal has just a too strong kit.

Don’t even go there everything is a numbers game.

If we’re gonna talk kit lets talk for exmaple Holy Priest that see very little play in PvP, high burst single target healing, high burst AoE healing, Big single target heals big AoE heals, hots, absorb shields, movement speed increases, damage abilities that stuns the targets for 4 secs, the biggest pool of big cooldowns out of all healers, fear, dispell, mass dispell a major damage increase cooldown that can be cast on themself or others. Alot of classes can be extremly OP if the numbers are right.

And doesnt matter if it would be OP if the numbers was right your thread says they NEED A NERF its not they need a nerf if the numbers are right. Your just grasping at straws here trying to salvage a flawed arguement.

thats pretty much reason, why holy paladin can be easyly broken with borrowed powers :), this issue comes with every cooldown based spec  all the time … just look at fire mage one item and bad class will become broken. Blizzard has to be realy careful with these :), i was never a fan of borrowed powers shared between all specs, every time when Blizzard come with something like this , balance is all over the place (corruptions, essences).

Yet if they get cc-ed they have trouble catching up with the healing they do and essentially oom themselves the moment they get behind

0/10 for lack of originality. A poor troll is just that OP, a poor troll.
