This needs to stop - Queueing as the wrong spec

Hi there.

During the crown chemical co. thingie, I mostly play tank and heal and I see than in 75% case, people queue as heal or tank and play a dps spec. Most of them don’t even do much damage.

I think that Blizz should be locking the spec like in random BG, so that when you queue as a healer, you play a healing spec and can’t play a dps spec. Same for tanking.

What do you guys think ?

In theory, yes.
But does it really matter for this specific event?
You’re all there to just zerg down that boss in 10 seconds.

I would love to see people tied in to the spec they queue as.

I used to think the same like you until i got 40 chars and DPS queue gets over 10 minutes at certain times of the day.

Good thing is it doesn’t matter for this dungeon, they melt. Altho this year it seems the scaling from the poison on the ground deals excessive damage than all the previous years.

Other than that, if you die, just release you spawn right there so you can keep going.

Well I think FFXIV has a nice example for their queue. Once a queue pops up, you can only enter with a job which corresponds with the signed up role. (aka, if you signed as a tank, then you need to switch to a tank job and only then you can enter the instance…and you obviously cant change your job inside the instance).

I have nearly a full compliment of the 65 char limit. The bulk are dps. Besides you just hit the instance cap even faster.

But this event in particular I really hate groups with no healer. I am having to use every defensive and am often left with like 10% health at the end (no I do not stand in puddles and move from sprays). Fortunately I’m only doing it on my main now, at the start I did try doing it on a variety and those who aren’t tanks or healers can mean you end up on a non stop death release run, just to keep the mob in combat so you don’t have to start the fight all over.

I love and appreciate the groups where people are actually performing their role.

I could abuse the system too and queue as a healer or tank but I don’t. The dps queue isn’t exactly very long.

That is what I don’t understand, the DPS queue is very fast no abuse is even needed!

Bosses go down before I even cast my 10th pyroblast.

Some of WoW’s content does change your spec etc, but not all. It’s odd.

Consistency would be nice.

I got no issues for people that can do high dps while keeping themselves alive np, like SP’s Vampiric Embrace… but people doing it for the sake of it but can’t handle it are absolute :eggplant:s .

When you queue for multiple roles, is the game respeccing you into the role the instance accepted you for?

And even if that happens, you can always force your spec into the one of your choice. Especially follower-dungeons are being used for this. No penalties there.

That’s true, I would like it to force the person into the spec they’ve chose to queue as and not let them change.

Which is more of an argument of either redesigning it as a solo activity or making it harder to justify the need for a group for it than it is to allow it to be exploitable.

Forcing players into the specialization of the role they got matched us is even worse than what currently exists. If someone does not have their tank/healer bars set up, or they do not have necessary equipment (like they miss a shield as warr/pala) they cannot function at all, which is worse than letting them exploit it.

I suggest that every player who joins as a specialization which isn’t reflecting the role they’ve been assigned simply do not get any reward and have to redo it.

Not for this instance, no. If you queue as tank while in dps spec you will enter in dps spec.

It’s a bad idea.

If you’re doing a dungeon and the tank leaves sometimes helpful people will repec. Now you’re losing that possibility.

If a dps tries to tank it and dies and you wipe - kick them. Problem solved without the need of silly systems limiting things.

You only hit instance capped per hour if it’s more than 10 characters on the same realm. Or if you hit that cap and you have characters on another realm, swap to them until the cap limit wears off on the previous realm.

As for the DPS timers not being that long I’d say debatable, sometimes they are very short yes like 2-3 min. If that was the case all day I wouldn’t have minded it, but I’ve seen it hit over 10-15 minutes mark at one point where I started thinking it may even be bug (doubt).

Regardless, I won’t queue for the “right” role on this easy 30 second dungeon and stay on queue for more than 3 hours or more until I’m done a full daily round on all of my characters just because some people are getting offended.

Maybe fix that stupid drop rate instead so people won’t have to resort to such lengths to spam the dungeon. I don’t mind it getting me a few years to actually get it drop, but been at it since 2009, I’m sure others are even longer on it.

Doesn’t matter, boss is trivial.

the funny fact is that 80% of these players are not good, they just play the right class/spec so it doesn’t matter

Yea sure, they aren’t good but they all have title range scores?

You speak so much crap.
