This thread should probably be deleted, thanks for the responses tho

I’m gonna let you in a secret buddy. Every class that can equip the axe can tank. You can, you just need to man up.

TL:DR I think its a mix of game design but mostly a community issues tbh. It’s not the M+ queues as much as it is how Tanks and Healers are treated, thus nobody wanna play the roles, and new Tanks and healers are scared away allready in Normal and HC dungeons.

Everybody wants to play DPS, very few wants to play Tank and Healer - SO there’s a million DPS in queue, and few Tanks and Healers Obv. And everybody holds a super high standard and expectation of Tanks and healers.
It is super stressfull roles, even more so now than in the past. As a tank you need a PhD in dungeon Layouts and various routes and strats.
Route for pugging/depending on what you sence your team can pull off. Route for tryharding, Routes based off affixes. That’s sort of the minimum of it, that you need to make sure of.
As a Healer, there’s so many mechanics. There’s the affix, healer mechanics, heal-checks, dispells, interactions, need of Healing addons, weakauras and keybinds to do your best.

Then there’s the community issue.
If the tank doesn’t go the route that the DPS thinks is the best, Tank gets flamed. If the tank doesn’t keep a pace that the DPS finds suitable - DPS pulls ahead, and tank has to spend his time trying to catch everything, and keeping it together. If tank pulls too fast or too much, thats wrong too (I don’t play tank in M+, its just what I have been seeing).

As a Healer, you need to be a squid having 8 arms. Outside of pumping healing, because everybody stands in everything, you also have to do CC because nobody apparantly bound their kick. Also nobody deals with mechanics do you need to do those too, while dispelling, and dealing with affixes. When shizzle goes off because no one interrupts, nobody use defensives - so you pump extra hard, while doing everything else.
Though, when you die - suddonly everybody finds their pots, defensives and starts to kick

And I think tbh it is the community issues that drives away tanks and healers. It’s too much stress, and so everybody reroll DPS to “relax”, and so the problem in queue gets bigger.
And while leveling alts in 60+ I see why potential new tanks and healers might give up right there and then - and that’s 100% a community problem. DPS just pull a head, pulling half the dungeon, not being able to hold aggro, panic and death everywhere. Tank swapping to DPS spec and doing the same… same result.
New tank asking what to do, and clearly being nervous - gets flamed till he leaves.
Nobody kicks, does mechanics or move out of bad stuff… I pulled 2m HP on a single boss because chaos was … crazy. And that was just the dungeons I saw yesterday - had I been a new healer I would probably have gone " Nah, not worth it I just go DPS".

Want faster and better queues as a DPS? Only solution could be that the community treats the Tanks and Healers better, especially the new ones, so they can actually also have fun while playing the game, and just not be someones means to an end asap. The Dev’s can’t do something about that though, So the other option would be to impliment way less mechanics, and make bosses and trash longer to kill, not to make it too easy - but who would find that fun?

No ??
Just grind your rio up and push your own key. No one will take you if your max timed key is waay below what you apply for. 20 isnt even a high key
Edit : Also if you post with your main it will be waay easier to find out why you are getting rejected.

Thank you so much for answering  I did give it a try years and years ago but the ‘no healers’ scared me off haha (I love healing…). May have to give it another try!

Hi, like many other here probabbly mentioned, issue is DPS players are like 70%+ population of the game, so if you want to do m+ be a tank or heal. You will get invites very fast that way, especialy as a tank. This is the truth, If i post a key to group finder sometimes i get insane ammount of DPS applicants and you pick one at random pretty much that looks decent- Gear, score and go.

I love healing in GW2 a lot. It has a few more roles than just healing. Provides cast/attack speed buffs, reduces skill cooldowns, gives shields, gives MS buffs, can AoE CC/slow mobs etc.

These are communities you might want to try

100% this. I just assume that anyone who doesn’t post on their main or a character that can be easily tracked to it us just making stuff up.

Where did you get this number from? I haven’t figured out how to find a retail main with just a classic character to start from.

They gave the number themselves.

We can’t look up Classic chars and link them to their Retail accounts. Which is why people do it. I have never cared about people seeing my main (I post on it) but others prefer to be anonymous and Classic chars are about as anonymous as you can get.

It can be handy to see someone’s IO profile though in these discussions but not everyone likes to share.

Thanks, I didn’t see where they said it.

And I have to agree with Questmount that it’s really low. Getting into +20s means competing with people on their 3k+ mains looking for quick weekly keys for the vault. It’s obvious who is more likely to get chosen.

I agree that you’re probably facing a lot of competition in the group finder from people who are 3k+ just wanting to do some weeklies. Leaders are obviously going to go for the quick easy option with them, rather than an unknown.

It isn’t even competing on a normal score where you want to progress into +20’s. This is a char i am slowly getting to the 20’s and i am 200 points higher.

2350 score is not even KSH, which is 2500 which is all dungeons on +18 and alternate dungeon +17. He is on +16’s and is trying to make an instant +4 keylevels jump. Then his conclusion is basically he needs to buy boosts… No, just progress normal.

Push your key? No then pay

I never see this. Admittedly, I play more with friends than with randoms, but more recently I’ve pugged a little more (18-20s to fill out my vault slots). I don’t think any of the PUG tanks had an identical route, some of them questionable, but nobody has complained. I had a DH tank in WCM who pulled the first room and the entire hallway in a fortified week, MDI style, and died before the healer and dps were even in range - still nobody said a word.

Some classes don’t have a tank or healing spec. I think in M+, DPS is a hard role to play properly. There is a lot to do and a lot to pay attention to, and there’s a constant sense of competition with plenty of frustration points, I’d say DPS cause more keys to fail than tanks or healers.

I’ve been playing ranged DPS this season and I actually don’t enjoy it all that much. Next season I’ll probably tank, though my raid group doesn’t need more tanks (that is actually something that I think discourage some people from maining a tank). There’s a steeper learning curve upfront, you need to learn more initially, and you have to take charge, but I think once you’re past that point (where you know the routes, the mobs, the bosses, know the spots where people tend to accidentally pull extra stuff, the skips, etc), it’s a comparatively easy role. It’s certainly the easiest role by far in most raid encounters (HC, can’t comment on mythic).

I only ever read about this here and also never actually see it in the game. I leveled a shaman healer in random dungeons and I’m currently leveling another DK tank in random dungeons (want to race change my DK to Vulpera, but realized I need to also level a Vulpera from scratch for the heritage armor).

With the shaman healer I saw a lot of inexperienced tanking: pulling too much, pulling too little, jumping out of range constantly (80% of the DH tanks do this), getting lost, not holding aggro, etc - and nobody ever said a word.

With my leveling tank, I get healers who seemingly click their spells right out of their spellbooks, never dispel anything, don’t buff, and nobody says a word. DPS rarely interrupt anything (always fun in dungeons like Shrine of the Storm), accidentally pull stuff (I almost never see anyone deliberately pulling), ignore mechanics, etc - and nobody says a word.

There are also amazing tanks, healers and DPS who play really well even in leveling dungeons. But the point is that I never actually see the toxicity I read about here, even if a tank or healer lacks experience or just doesn’t play well.

I do agree with the anxiety that comes with healing and tanking for random people. I think part of it is just the uncertainty of what quality of players you get, and there is little to no communication. I think new healers and tanks are also prone to thinking that everything that goes wrong is their fault and that they could have prevented it, even if that’s objectively not the case.

But that’s part of the anxiety part, and I feel that players who are drawn to support roles are the kind of people who overthink everything, including myself.

my experience is about cross server. I was on sporeggar server and we all knew eachother (with pros and cons) and we were tied to those ppl.
Now with cross server you sometimes never see ppl again so you never care about them.

Only some complaining. I tried last week to get the atal portal on my tank. First try i pulled left 2 packs because fortified and i got “???”. Next try i go rezan with 2 saurid packs and i get “why why why”. Next i try rezan first without saurids and i get the remark on fort it is better to go left.

Last you can still see here:

It is getting a bit annoying.

Or do your own key, and you have your 20 key easy …

dps player care less about stuff in general and can get carried go a certain level much easier so there are way more bad dps players than tanks and healers in higher keys, % wise not absolute because that is a given anyways.

but a key in 18-20 range to fail because of 1 dps is quite unlikely. if 2 dps a crap than you lack dmg and with a mediocre healer on tyrannical you will get overwhelmed or cant make the timer.
sometimes the group fails bevause of kicks (mainly rise) but beside that most keys in that range would be because of bad healer or tank. (i mean bricked, not because someone leaves because dont want to carry a crap dps player)

i played my ilvl 446 to ilvl 470 and 400 rio to 2.4k rio in the last 1.5 weeks and didnt have a single complain actually.
i played only my own key except one and that one failed because we had 3 terrible dps players

I’ve seen plenty of ‘What is this Route’ in keys. I may think it sometimes but I don’t flame the tanks for their routes, I just follow them. It’s a bit of a pain if they don’t get the percentage right but not the end of the world.
