Thoughts on Dornogal

I agree with OP.

Dornogal is good in function, but dull in visual.

It is just the main theme of this expansion, the dwarf visual and aesthetic.

I like it a lot. I thought it was going to be very boring like Valdrakken but the fact that the dwarves are actually interesting and that its situated on top of a big cave system makes it feel like a calm area in an otherwise crazy expansion setting. Every time I go back up there it reminds me of the feeling I got arriving back in Firelink Shrine in Dark Souls 1.

I like how open the area at the delves and upgrade vendor is and I like how it feels flying around it. The dummy area is also way bigger and isn’t on top of the pvp vendors which is much better for actually using the dummys without accidentally cleaving onto 5 other ones.

I like that all of the buildings have moss and grass on them and the environmental detail guys went absolutely crazy silly with the doodads - feels like every room has more detail in it than 5 buildings from earlier expansions.

It’s fine. I guess.

the only thing what bothers me with all those new hubs is,

make vendors stop selling same things around the world and have some “local” stuff or local style items/expansion style items even if its low lvl item, or i dont know specific to expansion for level bracket buffs , oils, poisons that u could purchase maybe like next to coloseum in maldraxus

My first thought was it being called Donegal, Ireland… :stuck_out_tongue:

It felt pretty much the same. Not much life into it, and it makes me mad that most of the interiors are based on just 1 model - so they basically look all the same - and there are LOTS of closed doors which really get on my nerves. Plus, being it a Dwarven city, it has these huge towers inside of mountains which can’t be accessed and are there just for decoration.

how about we ask blizz to add some live events like in GW2 ? where basically it feels alive when finishing event or not have two types of outcomes and it makes maps feel alive with not only players but NPCs

You still use flight masters? Theres basically no need with dragonriding

When you enter farming mode, which I’m in after the first day of the current resets, flight masters are your friend, as you become too lazy to manually fly :stuck_out_tongue:

doesnt matter what it looks like if its laggy and filled to the brim with stutters, 0/10

its literally worse than valdrakken, which is unfathomable

I still do, It’s convenient to go potty :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I would like to make a request for a huge pink blossom tree in front/next to ,the AH.So I won’t have to ask the guards every time.
The city is not ugly, but everything looks too much the same.

AFK going from point A to B.

People keep talking about needing to ask for directions… where are you trying to get to that you stuggle to remember?
Upgrades, vault/bank, and auction house are all right next to each other.
The barber and transmog is just down the stairs from there.
The professions area is around the giant forge area located right in front.

Everything you need is right next to each other.
Im honestly confused what people are getting lost looking for XD

There are weak auras and addons for the forgetful. I’ve just learnt my way around.

I had this chat with a friend a few nights ago, I had the same conclusions. Though mine are to the extremes where I rate Oribos just very slightly above Dornogal. It just looks like a bland quarry with very hard to distinguish visual indication of what the different houses are. There is a symbol above the doorway on some, but it’s often hard to see until you’re so close it doesn’t matter anyway.

Some few simple changes would put it above Oribos though;

  • Some more tavern-y decorations such as a feast and dining areas outside the inn, perhaps some beer containers along the wall.

  • A Town Cryer type person outside the AH yapping about bids and auctions, a trading cart/wagon parked by the road-side.

  • Some NPC Adventurers and an anvil outside the crest transmutor / gear upgrading house

Stuff like that. Of course you can memorize where things are or rely on addons, but I think being able to look around and get some idea of what’s going on at a distance is a good thing. And it also makes the polished mining quarry less dull.

I like Dornogal. Its bright and alive.
Maybe you are in dead realm.

There is a cool hill to chill till I wait in queues, relaxing NPC sounds near the Innkeeper, etc.

At first I did not like it.

But it has quickly grown on me and as i figured out how to navigate it I’ve come to realize each area is very distinct which makes it easy to figure out where i am.

I keep getting lost looking for stuff but when you have an army of alts and their profs, nothing will get remember for a while.

I have the bank down and i know what the alchemy station looks like now. Item upgrade is next to bank. Renoun 1/4master in tall building which has the portal back to SW.

All other profs are in the SW area along that strip.

Mining area is easy to spot from the air. Not so much from the ground.

Valdrakken was just as much a mess for placing things. Stormwind has its benefits in having area’s where you know you will find stuff. Mage quarter, trade district ect.

Nothing like that in either valdrakken or dornogal.

I know what the thing that is missing is. Water. No water there.
