Thoughts on the new Arachnophobia Mode in the war within?

It really is, I have Thalassophobia, I can still go swimming in Lakes, but even there I think a Great White will chew my Leg off

Haven’t seen the crabs it replaces them with. And facing/controlling unreasonable fears is easier said than done. WoW spiders don’t upset me too much but if they are absolutely everywhere I may need that mode - the recent addition of having loads of spiders hanging from the ceiling in caves really doesn’t do me any favours. The mode doesn’t take anything away from anyone.

shammoz why arent you green?

OMG that cave. That horrible cave in Azure Span.

I looked at the floor.

Also one in Maldraxxus. The Azure Span one I have gotten better at as they are all crystal like but the Maldraxxus one? I can’t go in it.

As for what it looks like in game here is the World of Warcraft Vid covering it (in addition to the screenshot I showed above)

and the one with nerubian in eastern plaguelands? b4 cata it was deadly.

Those spiders don’t actually bother me. It’s the mounts with the very spindly legs I’ve seen that are worse :frowning:

We need a Bovinophobia mode next. Turn them Tauren into sheep.

Seriously though, it’s optional so if it makes the game more comfortable for some people to play then I have no thoughts about it really.

I’d rather see spiders than crabs/lobsters, I just think they are a cooler thing to be fighting, so I appreciate that they didn’t force crabs on all of us since arachnophobia is much more common than kabourphobia.

I’m an introvert with an irrational fear of humans, I need all people turned off.

No but seriously, spiders are incredibly creepy to most and I think the most common phobia. It makes sense to focus on that one.

I also think it’s generally problematic that the game has spider mounts or other truly absurd mounts. I mean it’s one thing when it’s a mob - just stay away from them - but when the players have the ability to run all over you with a spider mount…

It’s a bit immersion-breaking when you ride a spider out a dragon or some other crazy thing through Lakeshire and they’re all like “Good day to you!”

Besides my personal feelings on the matter I find it kind of poorly made and disingenuous if it only covers some models and I fear they’ll only open pandoras box with all the phobias out there.
But that’s a problem for Blizz to have fun with.

Funny how it works for other games without sparking such hysterical reactions.

I legit do not understand why anyone is triggered over something that makes life easier for others. I don’t use colourblind mode but I’m not raging that it exist.

If that was purposely aimed at me and not a misclick I think you got a little too much from between the lines from what I intended

I think if they do something they should do it proper. If they’re gonna do an arachnophobia mode they should do all models. Feels kind of lazy not to and not sure how much it helps if it doesn’t fully fix the problem.
And knowing the wow community as I know it. I fully expect people are going to point that out. A lot. Followed by quite a lot more requests for similar filters.
I believe they got their work cut out for them ^^

I guess it was

You must be new here!

Sea spiders can be just as terrifying but less so then spiders i would guess.

This visual can only be seen by players that want to see it so i dont get why people would discuss this in a negative way only positives i can see from a mode like this.

I find it quite cool to be honest I just wanted to see others views I was just curious if those people would maybe turn it off and on now and again just so they get to experience it as intended then maybe switch it on later

I don’t like spiders either, though wasps are worse in my opinion: they can fly! … But what I don’t understand about the filter is why anyone would want to replace spiders with spiders wearing armor; that just makes them even worse to me.

Exactly, it’s not changing the game for anyone else.

We need more players like you!! :dracthyr_love_animated:

Arachnophobia is a weird fear, its a fear that is learned. In the UK they’re pretty much harmless and yet i feel like it’s taught through generations by parents freaking out when one enters the house, making the kid learn to fear them as well.

Arachnophobia mode is something a lot of people will like, some will find it dumb, but at the end of the day i don’t think it changes anything. That being said ill put it on for some dungeons as it’ll be funny.
