That sounds like you have corrupt files or similar, have you checked your various firewalls, antivirus and ran a repair?

Well, while I understand this was frustrating for you, try to see it from the others roleplayers’ perspective. We have become accustomed to seeing more or less every roleplayer with a RP addon, and conversely, we see a large amount of non-roleplayers around us, easily identified both by behaviour but also by the lack of the addon. So this becomes a convenient tool to identify fellow RPers. This is a reality of the community that I’m not sure it’s possible to change, as much as we might want to. Especially by posting on this forum, which only a fraction of actual roleplayers read.
The best advice I can give you is to fix whatever issue prevents you from installing addons, maybe make some google searches or post in the technical support forum: https://eu.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/c/support/technical-support/13
If that doesn’t work or you’ve already exhausted your options, all I can suggest is try to ensure you behave in a way that makes it obvious you’re roleplaying. Maybe make it obvious by your gear choices (though this can be tricky with todays transmog options), walk IC and speak exclusively IC. You may already be doing this, in which case I can only express my sympathy that people aren’t taking you seriously. But again, with how essential this addon has become over many years, I can’t see it changing.

See, TRP helps people know about your character a little before they roleplay with you. It can tell a lot about the person, such as their style of writing, the quality of their writing, their grammar, and even their personality (occasionally).
TRP helps you know which people are dedicated to having a good character and what people just RP to mess around. Of course this isn’t always the case, there are some people who can do without TRP and still RP well, but having the addon is just a small way of telling everyone “I’m invested enough to put a little time into building my character.”
It helps people tell apart the genuine RPers and the Non-RPers, which you’d think wouldn’t be the case, since this is an RP realm, but here we are.
Anyway, TRP just helps people know that you are… RP savvy, so that you don’t have to walk up to someone with a blank character and wonder “Are they roleplaying right now, or are they just playing the game?”
It also looks very nice. Like a frame around your character.

I have you tried speaking to support (directly, not the automated version) ?
I’ve never heard of this happening to this extent and it is a big negative in more than just RP if addons full on break your game?
Have you tried a smaller RP addon maybe?

It was more of a rationalization of why TRP should be the norm. No one wants to walk up to someone and start an RP engagement only to have them target you, then just sprint away, leaving you with dead air.
People can RP without it, but I think it should be the standard. It’s like a sign that says “I RP.”

I suppose it’s just for the sake of convenience. Not everyone is comfortable with an OOC approach. You can argue that it’d be good for people to try and interact OOC, but a lot of people are only in it for the RP, detached from OOC stuff.

I’ve RP’d with people without TRP and honestly it’s been fine but I also understand why people avoid folks without TRPs and that’s because of OOCers and griefers. Far too often people are led on by people that think it’s funny to troll Roleplayers despite rolling on an RP realm.
I feel people should be more welcoming to prospective RPers that don’t have TRP for the reasons you said. For the new folks TRP can be quite intimidating as it has a lot of information and I do get that, as I started with a much smaller and basic one before changing to TRP.
I’m sorry folks are giving you the cold shoulder though. Might be good to just try to initiate RP and give them a whisper saying you don’t have an RP addon but wish to try out Roleplaying. I doubt many would turn you away.

Pardon me, but the addon is optional. The problem is, this addon offers a set of utilities that enhance the roleplaying experience, as well as flags people, who are possibly being interested in the interaction of the roleplaying nature, instead of poking people that are not part of Argent Dawn for such entertainment, or has no current wish to roleplay.
I see many members of the Argent Dawn community currently trying to find a solution for your initial problem thus, assisting in enhancing your experience in roleplay.

There has to be a fault in your PC somewhere for that to be the case.
Check your drivers, run a chkdsk and clean it out.
I find it jarring to RP with people without the addons because all the hooks the characters have become invisible, if someone’s playing an alternate class, has a special title and all that you miss out.
Not sure how to help, buddy. With that said, it’d be nice if Blizzard built one in. The fewer addons I need, the happier I am.

If they made their own addon, with enough functions for roleplayers to find it useful, I’d gladly use it.
