This is a very harsh judgment on something that could potentially be down to human problems and not just elitist behavior. Some find walking up to another character in the blind as crossing personal boundaries (As in, just walk up without knowing if they are talking to one who RPs or not). As well,

I’ve never heard of any addons messing with graphics in game, ever. Addons should only change the interface of the game, and have no bearing on the actual world, unless of course the extra addons makes you run out of RAM/VRAM

Ive had some serious issues with addons in the past, but still managed to find the rp, I think if your rping with no addons and thus…not always the best indicator that you are a rp’er, the best method to use is one I employ anyways even with addons, be the approacher not the approachee, walk up strike up a convo n it’ll be clear as day your a rp’er, first couple weeks on WoW Im sure I didnt have any addons and was still joining active rp guilds and partaking in events ect.

I had a similar issue, I found once I had downloaded all 3 of the “TRP” addons it started working, I had just installed 2 and kept wondering why it wouldnt work, downloaded the last one that I felt wasnt important as it seemed like some raid thing, boom, started working.

You said you’re an information engineer (I’ll assume this means infotechnology) so can you describe exactly how you’re trying to install these addons? Can you also explain the problems (errors, crashes, graphical issues) in more detail?

Try following these steps below:

  1. Download TRP3. The only thing you need to press is ‘Download’ and it will automatically download the right .zip file https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/total-rp-3

  2. Find your WoW directory and the addons folder. The default location is:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft\_retail_\Interface\Addons

  3. Drag the .zip you downloaded into that folder

  4. Right click and extract the .zip

This is all you should have to do for the addon to work. After this you can log on, check the Addons list in game (lower left corner in character selection, or Escape menu in game), and make sure you have Total RP 3

People without trp or myrp are most often ooc players and don’t really engage in rp much. If this is the char you try to rp with and people can only see your ooc name then they might not take you serious because of your name. It’s not a rp type of name.

About your addons. I suggest clearing them all and install something like Overwolf or Wowup and download addons trough those.

ok just tryed it. it’s 12:47 currently and… this time smth weirder happent to WoW. every texture is purple and black squares and after 1 minute my pc crashed. i disinstalled the addon. tbh, i think from now on i will just try to RP and if ppl won’t RP whit me it will be another “Eh, at least i have ma friends”. im just done whit this thing -_-

How up to date are your drivers and OS?
Check there isn’t a newer one. If something is horrendously out of date, it can cause this sort of issue.

There surely must be a way to get the addons working, my old PC could do it fine and it was a piece of junk.

While addons are not required to RP - if you RP at people they should generally respond - I’ve actually RP’d at people where both of us have TRP etc and they’ve bubbled up so it might not be the addons that are the core issue.

Regardless, all I can suggest is removing any addons and/or reinstalling the game and trying again.

Hope you find a fix

See, this is weird to me for several reasons

For one, the WoW engine doesn’t use black and purple squares for missing textures. It doesn’t exist in the game. Games on the Source engine like Half Life 2 and Garry’s Mod do

Addons don’t have the ability to create 3D graphical errors. WoW is full of protected functions that will start shooting out LUA errors when touched. Downloading texture or model changers (which is against the Terms of Service) is a different process to downloading an addon

The errors and glitches you seem to be getting keep changing but are never detailed. You never mention error codes. One time it’s a crash, then it’s missing textures, then it’s swapped textures, then it’s a flood of errors but the game still works for an entire hour. Your entire game was supposedly black and purple squares for an entire minute and you didn’t even take a screenshot?

I genuinely don’t know what your plan is here but this thread is getting increasingly fishy my dude. If you have some incomprehensible aversion against using an RP addon, it’d be a lot less weird to simply say that instead of what seems like making things up
