So I came back to Classic with the intention to get Thunderfury, I know the materials is hard / expensive to come by, however getting a guild to give me the in raid mats is quite hard. is it realistic for me to get or should I just seek it else where?
Join a guild and then join the queue to get Thunderfury. But beware: it’s probably a long one. Guilds won’t just hand over / sell mats.
either that or get 60k for bindings and then get 30k more for rest of the mats

just like everything else in classic, you will buy it with real money through gdkps if you want it.
My suggestion is to do what I did, I was in a guild and prob number 20 or something in queue for thunderfury bindings. I said eff that I will host my own runs and HR bindings. Did that and had tf within 3 MC resets (I might have gotten lucky lmao). Took maybe 2 months after I started hosting until the last 3 weeks where they dropped.

Have been farming MC on reset with HR on Garr binding for 7 months on one char, still hasn’t dropped.
Coincidentally, I’ve seen it 4 times on other chars in far fewer runs.
