Time gating content for the average dad/mom that plays 1-2 hour a day so they wont feel like they are falling behind is such a weird concept, as soon as m+ and the raids open they fall behind anyway.
For players like myself that bought the early access and is locked and loaded to play the game is met with a wall that tells you to stop, stop playing our game and play it only at the pace we set for you
For the record, i understand they cant release everything on early access, but to time gate at this pace is disgusting. I cant even complete the campaign until the 3rd september? What a joke.
Everyone is just flying around doing nothing right now, and its 3 days after heroic dungeons opened, you can just level to 80 with the current storyline, quit the game after 5 hour gameplay and open it when m+ releases and you will be completely fine and have missed out on absolutely nothing at all
I’ve tried to force myself into learning professions etc, not my cup of tea but i cant see how anyone is enjoying themselves right now with the current pace of content releasing if you are not a professioneer.
They want to cater to the old homies playing the game after they put their kids to sleep and by the way there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, thats not what im saying
But to then turn around and release early access on a friday, is just a 180 to that concept or am i wrong?
I’ve played this game for far too long, ever since TBC release.
Maybe i am wrong with my opinion about this.
I am open to read what you all think, this is just what a 27 year old gamer thinks about this whole situation.
Cheers
Made a new account for whatever reason in wotlk i believe, i was a kid playing all kinds of games at that time
Was that the only thing u wanted to say about this?
You knew in advance the dates that content would be made available.
If your preferred playstyle is to gorge yourself at the all you can eat buffet till you burst you could have joined a couple of weeks after release and not been “behind”.
So if i am a player that wants to experience the full release, i have to wait 3 weeks after the release of the game to get that? And the campaign i cant even complete until 2 weeks after the release
What kind of plan is that, do you really think that is something normal?
You were fully informed, now you’re like a kid in the backseat of a car kicking the front seat screaming “I’m boOoooOred” and passing it off as reasonable.
And yes I think its normal, people consume content faster than it can be created, this is known. It’s smart for Blizz to timegate it a little as long as it doesn’t devolve into scummy business practice. Since you’re already flipping out 30 hours after release I’ll go out of a limb and say I don’t really trust your judgement on where that line is too much.
Don’t get me wrong, I’d love for stuff to be quicker but I ran a CE guild for 7 years or so that had all the different types of people in it. People with less free time love this approach, it lets them see and appreciate the world without feeling that they are getting “behind” by doing so.
This is a good approach, as usual it will be bad for some like you, but net? It’s great.
You are really trying hard to protect blizzard about this, and i just noticed you have 14k posts, calling me a kid for trying to see if people agree or disagree with my opinion is room temp iq, you’d think after that many posts you learn something about how to approach a post
Also you said “as long as it doesnt devolve into scummy business practice”, are you also shilling about how the early access was handled?
And yes, what you just said is what my post is about, people with less time love this approach about not feeling “behind” but wont they feel behind when all content is released and everyone is just blasting through m+ keys and gearing like crazy, raiding etc
So whats the difference?
Maybe put ur reading glasses on, i did address some of ur points
Now answer this, whats the difference for the people that will feel left “behind” when m+ and raids releases and everyone pushes hard for keys, gearing like mad and raiding versus now
Especially after leaving a very sour taste for how they did early access on a friday and released full game on monday, 40 euro to get the chance to get multiple gold caps, arent they feeling more left behind now than ever?
None.
Those, like me, who aren’t part of EA, or don’t have 8 level 80 characters ready at this point, simply don’t care enough about Raids or M+.
I’ll do the raids when my friends in their guild have cleared it.
And we’ll do a social raid up to heroic difficulty.
Same for M+, I’ll just run it with friends and get my achievements that way.
I don’t need to be running +20 keys since day one.
Personally i see your point but i think there are pros and cons. I find it frustrating having to wait to finish the campaign but on the flip side its gave me time to do all the quests in all zones…well still got one chapter in hallowfall due to bug. But i bought EA and had all bank holiday weekend to smash it. And i got 2 level 80s. If i didnt have EA id probs of only finished the levelling campaign as my play time is limited now Im back at work.
Maybe i would have a different opinion if i didnt smash it completely in EA, i have rly nothing to do right now so im here seeing if im alone in that thought
I remember back when the game was not timegated, how many guilds were ruined because someone either did not have the free time to devote to farming for tens of hours per day, or was not willing to spend every second of them being awake playing WoW?
I am in the same boat as you but if i didnt have EA i would be only playing 2 hours a day so i get why they have done it this way… that doesnt mean i wont be twidling my thumbs until the rest of the campign is released
Still, Dejarous’s point stands. We have been made aware of the schedule for months. We have also been aware from the last few expansions and their intermediate patches that Seasons do not start the same week as new content becomes available. Not only that, but any progress or preparation in those weeks before Seasons are started are almost nullified the very same day those Season go live. At best you can just farm absurd amounts of materials to save time for crafting if/when needed.
