Time to move on

I feel its time to say goodbye to wow. No you cant have my gold. And I am aware
nobody cares. Please allow me to explain the reasons why.
anniversary server (pve)
I decided to roll horde for a change. As I am on a mega server there are far too
many players. And I dont feel layers do much to help.
spending an hour trying to complete a quest is not fun. As the respawn time for
mobs is at times very slow. Far worse of course in contested zones. I find myself
competing with many other players to tag a mob. And yes have grouped at times
to avoid this. But this is not practical with some quests.
I have started again many times to counter this but if anything its getting worse.

Bots and gold sellers
I see adverts in trade chat from gold sellers. how can this be allowed?
When questing in Hillsbrad Foothills and trying to do “The battle of Hillsbrad” quest
I was amazed at what was happening. Nearly every field had a frost mage camped there.
All were Troll mages and looked very similar. Tagging all the mobs, drinking then rinse
and repeat. I spent hours trying to quest but in the end deleted the quest and left the
zone. I of course cannot prove these are bots but did look like it.

Realm Transfer
Due to the issues above I was hoping to transfer to an era server. Hoping I may
be able to quest in peace. But transfers are not allowed.
I dont have the will to start again on era. And dont understand why it is not possible.

Modern Wow
I have played TWW but was not for me. This version of the game feels flat and not
an epic experience like it used to be. The story was boring and did not grab me.
It felt more like “my little pony” Than warcraft. The days of WOTLK and the story
are long gone, Modern WoW feels soulless.

Thanks for reading

The game has been hollowed out - While the technical prowess has made the graphics and capability of the game engines much better, we have lost on vision and direction.

But again, who can tell the people in charge of the game these days? Who can sit on that table and tell them to their face what many of us think about it?

Would we be heard, of would we condescendingly be dismissed? Think of “you think you do, but you don’t.”

Hence, why I believe what you are doing is the right course of action. If this is not good, something else will be.

Really enjoyed 2019 classic, but not feeling it now either. I think it’s the mega server with layers, the new pvp system and the player base going mental with minmaxing. Oh well. Maybe 2029 fresh is good.

In all fairness you should not forget the toxicity and entitlement of the so-called players (in reality not players but consumers). Wouldn’t be surprised that a developer’s/desiger’s motivation goes down the toilet when he only gets shi_t from the “community”.

I feel what you saying. You would experience more disappointing things if you would endure the journey and decide to raid and/or PvP. Players are different, making game different.

So many people don’t know about it so i will mentinon, maybe you know or not.

When you are in game write /join layer and than right click on layer messages and carry them to new window. Whenever you feel too much people around the place you are questing just write “layer” in layer chat, someone who uses addon will auto invite you and you will switch layers.

I leveled 1x60 1x52 2x 20+ levels and never had any issue about tagging or excess competition.

Skip cringe quests which are requiring you to colled 100 things with 5% drop rate and use layer chat and you good. In addition to this, when you are logging out keep your character inside Inns so you get rested XP.

thats my problem as well
I play with a friend and we are now level 48
we barely log any more as we got tired of this. Everywhere we go there are 10+ others and we compete for quest mobs and is not good

Is not good when others tag the mob from you and is not good when you tag it from other players
This is definitely not how I remember playing classic 20 years ago!

Going into Megaserver was good idea as you know your server will never die as time passes, but they didnt do it right
They must either increase layers or drastically increase spawn times

I would love to play and level alts too but cant see that happening. It was not enjoyable so far
every play session was frustrating trying to compete for all quests so far

“You are not a true warrior if you are nor wearing Lionheart helm after dinging 56”
No wonder boosters/gold sellers are booming, they are making tons of money.

The thing is people clamoured for megaservers. They were a core community demand due to so many of them playing on Nostalrius and then expecting Classic to be absolutely swarming with players packed into zones like ants.

They forgot that the original vanilla game was never anything like that, as servers had far lower capacities back then, and even more so - the original zones were never designed to host such a large number of players.

Blizzard’s solution was layers, which the same people then whined about as it was ‘not an authentic experience.’

Well it isn’t an authentic experience at all, and it is also worse than the 2019 release. I stick to era

I am coming as soon as they allow me to

It’s actually more nuanced than that.

Problem with small classic servers is that today game is not growing. There are 100 000 players who started to level, month later there are 50 000 players left, two months later there are 10 000 players left.

So if they would create, say, 10 anniversary small servers, after 10 months they would basically be dead. That was not the case in original Classic. People kept coming to the game all the time until Cataclysm, so they had to add new servers.

So they basically had few choices:

  1. Create 10 small servers. Agressively merge them, like every month, to keep population healthy. And then start new servers as TBC will be released. And merge them again few months after that.

This approach could work, but people inevitably will want to play on a single server. To keep server small, developers will need to put a queue. It leads to terrible gameplay when people use TeamViewer on the work to join queue 10 hours before raid, so they could actually join their friends at night. You can’t do anything about that.

  1. Layers. Automatically add and remove layers on the fly.

This is pretty much ideal solution, the only issue is that people can magically disappear or farm things more efficiently. Well, that’s probably a cost we had to pay to solve other problems.

I hate layers, but I just don’t see any better solutions. You can recreate classic servers, but you can’t recreate classic players.

Vanilla gamers should move back to not Blizzard servers. Maybe they will wake up and go back and give us the version they promised. .

So you’re basically complaining because they made a new anniversary realm that is popular and too many people are playing with it.?

The bot and gold farmers are FairPoint.

And complaining (I used the b word but apparently it’s not allowed)because transfers are not allowed on a brand new server that is barely had any life. They barely introduced world bosses

Glad you posted this. Found this post while searching for a possible date for character transfers from Spineshatter (PVP) to Thunderstrike (PVE), since the realm is SO TOXIC.

WoW and especially it’s player base changed a lot and not just the other fraction open world pvping low level enemies all the time

Also the own fraction sucks

You would be surprised but people are the best and the worst path of Thunderstrike. Just like with Spineshatter.

When you have only two hours per day to play does it really matter what was the reason you have not been able to finish a single UBRS? Casters left as soon as Jed did not drop trinket or tank says their daughter just woke up in the middle of the pull and they have to go. We had a tank that said he has to go because his wife has such long nails that she can not make a joint herself so he is gonna help her.

When that life situation happens in the middle of the dungeon over and over and over again its gets irritating very fast.

By the end of the day you find likeminded people, add them to friends and play with them. Randoms be random no matter where you run

I also cancelled my subscription 2 weeks ago. Should have done it before it went to month 2

It’s all meta and grind. Every single dungeon someone has “Hard Reserved” something
Tanks demanding first or more orbs for Strat live, 50+ gold up front for tanking instances. PuG raids where all mats and BoE are reserved but you get 1-2 “Soft Reserve” but are expected to spend loads of gold on mats
 etc etc.

I think it’s arrogant as hell and I leave such groups immediately, why is their game time worth more than mine? I really just want to have fun and chill. But I do not get chill wipes from “First 2-3 Bosses only” “Rent a Tank” or “this and that HR”.

I had a 60 lock on dragonmaw pvp in vanilla, Later a 70 lock pve TBC and once more Max lock in Legion, 60 lock in first classic and now ofc 60 lock and a 30 priest and warrior
Never had alts before, but I really just got sick and tired of the way people are playing the game on max level this time around. I do neither find it relaxing nor fun or exciting. So despite my alts
 It’s time to go.
