Timewalking broken due to squish?

Might be just a wrong feeling.

I’ve noticed that, while time-walking recently, some trash mobs are able to 1-2 shot a player, including the tank.
Happened on two separate dungeons so far: Halls of Lightning and Ahn’kahet: TOK.
This happens when the trash mobs are using their special abilities.

I don’t remember Wotlk dungeons being this harsh…?

They do seem a bit overtuned at the moment.

Do you by chance know which abilities were those? I have been in Halls of Lightning and Ahn’kahet once and I haven’t encountered these issues.

Are these abilities mobs cast? If so that may be a reason why I did not encounter this. I know that the casters in the first few trashpacks in Ahn’kahet had a long cast ability when finished obliterated your entire team, so it always had to be interrupted at all cost.

In the halls there are mobs that spin for a duration.
The ability is deadly af, literally 2 shot the tank and 1 shot a DPS.

In Ahn’kahet I was too busy heal spamming the tank so he would remain above 10% hp, so I can’t point to any particular ability.

Ah, Charged flurry I think it is called. That I have seen go off, but in my group it did not get more than a few ticks off.

Generally though it was always the case that those are abilities that need to be interrupted ASAP, and it needs to be interrupted every time. Were multiple pulled together by chance?

Did you have a warrior tank in these cases by chance?

I watched the ability and it was armored (uninterruptible).
Sure people would need to avoid being near those mobs, but it’s illogical to have trash mobs more lethal than bosses.

I was in a group with a DPS warrior, yes, but he was the 4th groupie to die. The tank was a filthy Panda

Also there are rooms filled with statues that wake up.
They can Holy Lock and throw knives that clean a healer’s 15-20% hp each throw.
The only solution is to try and run out of their reach, or die and resurrect afterwards.

Use old gear with sockets, legendaries and azerite. Faceroll. Also interrupt and don’t stand in aoe

Armored abilities just means that the ability cannot be interrupted with normal interrupts like Rebuke, but it can be interrupted with stuns, blind or something similar (unless the mob in question is immune to them.)

If I recall it right the interrupts of those statues happen in melee range, and yes, it is very inconvenient. Some of the mobs in Ahn’kahet throw a magic debuff on you that can do the same to casters (9 second spell lock, ouch.)

Players losing so much health to these abilities do sound odd though. Were they level 60, or were some of these players leveling players (so not level 60s?) If they weren’t 60, then the scaling may be messed up for them in timewalking content.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the squish messed up something with said abilities. Make sure that you do a bug report on it, and write down the events in as much detail as you can, so Blizzard can look into it.

Its not like you can’t “do it” but yeah, it definitely felt harder than M+2 f.ex. but that just makes it more fun :3

Slightly off topic… Does anyone know if it’s possible to do the Ulduar hard modes in timewalking? i.e. Yogg Saron, Alone in the Darkness etc.

Yup, same here. Some bosses were killing me within few seconds despite DRs.

They were always hard to balance, we’re only at the start of the expansion so Azerite gear is better than pretty much any gear you can get in SL (maybe besides legendaries).

Is Twinking with the old Gem gear still working then? Haven’t tried Timewalking this exp yet.

gemmed/enchanted old gear>shadowland nosocket gear.

Cheers, I’ll be getting this sorted then for a bit of fun in timewalking.

Ahn’kahar Spellweavers were casting a 5 or 6 second spell that nuked you for 50% of your health on normal, and something like 80 or 90% max health on heroic, so what you describe seems about right if it’s still percentage based damage. It was literally a “do or die” mechanic.

In HoL that charged flurry used to murder everybody in range, especially if 2 mobs start it together. It’s somewhat like warrior’s bladestorm, but the mob is rooted while spinning so the easy solution was to sidestep it.

So eh, don’t know if they are not working as intended. But I wouldn’t be surprised if the scaling was indeed broken.

Really? We went 4 dps and me as the tank.

The retripala off healed

Timewalking dungeons was always kinda hard compared to regular ones.

Also, the loot is pathetic, even after the hotfix.
138 from vendor, 158 from drops. Worse than normal SL dungeons. Barely better than crafted gear (155). It should be HC dungeon level from drops and ~10ilvl above that from vendor if it’s to be of any use at all.

Halls og Lightning had 1 ability from the dwarven trash towards the end that hit like a truck. Besides that was as normal to me(some of that hurt in WotLK too, like the end boss if you messed up the mechanic)

In Ahn’Kahet some ground hitting abilities seemed rather overtuned, otherwise fine.

Pit of Saron… We agreed to take deserter if we got that again. Some of the trash there was worse than healing Sanguine Depths 9 with grevious in my case.

No idea what exactly hurt. Didn’t pay attention to that. Just got through it after a bit of swearing.
