I have been playing this game for a long, long time. I think just before TBC.
I mained a Paladin until Legion, Monk since then. I have a load of things that have been removed from the game. Warlords Death Wheel, Blizcon mounts, twitch drops, Mage Tower Weapons etc
However, at the tail end of Legion I lost my dad and was unable to get some of the weapon skins i wanted. Which didnt bother me until recently.
During MOP remix i leveled a Mage and I loved it. Now id like to play one this expansion but a few things bother me.
I wont ever be able to get the Mage tower weapons.
This seasons Elite PVP transmog is amazing. But with work and family i cant see how I am going to fit in the time in. I was hoping solo queue rated bgs would help but queue times are silly for dps. I dont mind aiming for the rating I just wish they didnt go away at the end of each season. Seasons are starting to feel like an expansion within an expansion.
I thought i had gotten all the pre-patch armour sets but turns out there was some for leveling and it annoys me i wont ever get them. Why do you need to constantly check Wowhead or icy veins etc just to find out whats in game?
I deleted my blessed battlegear of the undead slaying before transmog was a thing.
Trading post, i may have to wait another year to unlock the mage weapons and sets along with the recent arcane set and staff.
I know fomo cosmetic’s are common place now but i just wish things weren’t removed. It actually puts me off playing at all.
Anyway, this was more of a moan so thanks for your time.
I dont mind fomo cause people I know who did play but dont really pursue fomo usually just end up claiming theres nothing to do in wow and quitting despite not even being Lfr ilvl
So you play WoW not because you enjoy the gameplay, but only because it allows you to flex to other players that you have acquired something they haven’t?
1,8 in solo shuffle is much faster to get. Even with 5 wives, 3 jobs and 15 childrens you are able to get your set.
I get your points but getting the elite set isn’t a time consuming thing.
FOMO is cancer in wow, its a tool designed to psychologically make people feel like they need to be constantly playing in order to not miss out.
GW2 has the best approach, can stop playing for months/years, decide to play again and pick up where you left off. It has grinds but they’re fun to do, rewarding to finish and only have to do it once for your entire account.
I can sympathise with people having fomo… But it is a player problem first of all. I had allot of fomo too. Especially during Shadowlands. And seriously. The sooner you just start thinking ‘‘I do what I can with what time i have’’ And do what you wanna do the better.
But blizzard in my opinion shouldn’t build down their own game to give us less game to play. Just to ease player fomo. I think thats up to the player, How much time and things they want to or not to commit too.
I hard agree about cosmetics though. Seriously that shouldn’t be a thing at all. That cosmetics are taken out of the game.
The feeling you feel when you browse the apperance tab and you find a cool mount or armor you like. And you google to find out its taken out of the game -.- Worst wow feeling.
Blitz and Solo shuffle is probably the best route for you to achieve 1800 rating, take time to check guides and videos that will help improve your performance. On top of that, these two modes offer a huge amount of rating due to the inflated MMR which should skyrocket your progression, Solo shuffle being the highest one in terms of earning points, assuming that you win the rounds though, if I were you I’d practice on rotation, understand your class. I just checked on you and you currently got 0 which in a way is a good time to start since you’re in a later stage of the season, where MMR is likely to be hyper inflated by now.
When it comes to Queue, just be chill, pay attention to your monitor and make sure you keep yourself distracted whilst in queue, you’d be surprised how quickly you’ll get into one game, and if you lose, don’t get discouraged since you will likely not lose much progression, and keep trying again, aim to play like 3-4 games a day.
Edit : I forgot to mention about Blitz, has a placements of an average of 20 to 25 games, once done that amount, your MMR will stabilize and place you in your corresponded, rightful, MMR.
Hope this helps you and motivates you to achieve your 1.800 rating goal.
I doubt there’d be a pvp scene (modest though it is) without a time-limited carrot to chase. Whether one thinks that’s a good thing or not doesn’t change how it is.
Now, personally? I do think the design mindset is somewhat outdated. I say that as someone with his share of AotC mounts, MT transmog, titles and CM dungeon rewards. The novelty wears off after some time.
I wouldn’t ban removing items entirely but it should be very very extremely rare (much rarer than now).
The Black Qiraji mount is a good example of something that isn’t entirely unique (there are other colours of that mount) and the event it celebrates is a major milestone in the game and one of few such events.
But I do think it was a mistake to remove the Legion Mage Tower appearances. They didn’t celebrate anything. Some of those appearances were unique. And there was no real reason to remove them.
As for the Trading Post, I think it’s more-or-less fine. Items come back round. And most of the items aren’t unique models.
So I think items that are not available at all times should be very very rare and not entirely unique.
I think in reflection today I have just cancelled my sub. I want off the treadmill. Ive seen the preview of the next patch and i just cant do another mini island roulette grind.
I think it’s a good idea to take some time off. Blizz has really stepped up the fomo recently and enjoying the game requires a reset in approach imho. I took a long break from mid Feb until a few weeks before pre-patch and came back with a much more casual approach to collecting stuff, and I find it much easier to focus on playing content I enjoy and to stop simply chasing the shiny.
I had this reset in my approach in DF. I did all the weeklies, Superbloom, Feast, Siege, Storms etc. and got my gear to 463 (which felt like a good item level, so I was happey) then a week or two later they were throwing 480s at us so we could upgrade these to 512 or whatever.
I was so disheartened by this and felt like all those Superblooms and Sieges (which weren’t exactly fun) were wasted. So I basically gave up on gearing. I went into TWW at 463 and this gear was more than good enough for doing the questing and wasn’t even replaced until 76+.
Depending on what gear in available in Season 2 will depend on how much gear I bother to get. I’m 567 just now. I expect they’ll be throwing around 620s and I’ll be happy with those until pre-patch probably.
I know it’s easier for me as a non M+ / raid player to get into this mindset. But I am a lot more content in the game than I’ve been for a while.
