Yes it is but people dont get caught

Loads of people were banned for it a few months ago.

Yes. A guy in my guild got a 6 month for it like a month into bfa.

This is a very old matter but

and

are different questions. The second question can mean “would I get caught”, making the first one pointless, and sounds like what you want to know, since then you say:

And about this:

They’ve been crystal clear over and over. Any of such modifications are against the terms of use.

Whether they care enough to ban users for doing this or that is an entirely different matter but for which there is never a definitive answer, because they could always decide to enforce it and you would have no defense if you got banned for it.

how is that reply alone not self-explanatory?
and if you already know it, isnt this whole thread totally moot?

Well you answered your question yourself in the post.

I think they changed their policy on this around the end of tbc/start wotlk.
And since classic uses the modern API, it is a bannable offense.

Yes it is 100% bannable and yes, lots of people got banned for it in early BfA. Though some of the more draconian sentences got reduced later. The point is, yes, Blizzard will know you are doing it and might include you in their next “wave” of bans should they deem another one is needed.

Editing game files has always been forbidden, either manually or through third part softwares.
It has been done since vanilla though, sure, but it was a tinier percentage of players as it had to be done through messing with the MPQ’s. (I remember Badrasta always used it, you can still check his videos where he morphed his Field Marshal’s gear to look like Warlord’s)

Though there is no trace of the morphs outside of one’s client, I think they can easily indenti who used it via their Warden.

During Legion, a guildmate was banned for 6 months for Tmorphing happily.

Blizz said that his 180 day ban is a warning.
An actual ban would be 540 days.

So yes, I’d say it is bannable.

I think they did start to hand out bans for it, because I think you can also morph objects in the world, opening paths that should be blocked or something like that. I don’t know about the duration of bans, all I know is they shortened any ban length across the board, cause they realised the American prison system is a piece of shet so they stopped mimicking it.

But I also know that before that many people used it, I used it for a bit as well (not even for a week tho), and did not get banned. Anyways, on the official forums it’s hard to get a good answer, cause of all the “omg you answered your own question its game files blablablablabla”.
