I have no problem with that. The shop is a luxury, not a need. So if they would just add server transfers back for example they would earn money for free.
One important (and maybe forgotten) thing here - if they open transfers to Era, this will have to happen before the token goes live on Anniversary. Otherwise people can bring gold into Era and inflate the market.
But the gold bought from the gold sellers is not luxury. That’s the problem if blizzards price will be too high.
The purpose of the token is to combat the bots. You understand?

Gold buyers should face a permanent ban at first strike. That’s the only way to stop gold buying (and selling) - and I don’t even care if that means half the players quit / gets banned - those who are left are the ones wanting to play the game.
This would be a valid argument if Blizzard didn’t literally sell gold themselves in every other version of the game except Era. I think the week ban and forfeiting for the bought gold and items bought with it is perfectly reasonable, actually. Otherwise, every breech of ToS should cause a perma-ban. Imagine that ![]()
I understand you hate the botting, but then what if I ask a friend who is an avid farmer to spot me a 2k gold for consumes in exchange for paying in the bar tonight. He sends me 2k in mail next day and boom, permaban. And good luck talking to the AI explaining it’s your IRL friend landing you some cash. Funny how that works, innit.
At this point why have gold at all?
Why not turn it off and have a bop currency that can only be used at the AH, vendors etc?
Currency can be in three tiers - world mob, dungeon mob, raid mob. You can combine 10 of the lower tiers to reach a currency of the next etc and Disassemble 1 tier for 10 of the lower tier.
Raid currency tier can be used to purchase epic quality gear off AH.
Dungeon currency tier can be used to purchase consumables and crafting Matt’s off AH.
World mob currency can be used to repair, buy vendor crap etc.
All raids drop raid currency, keeping it relevant. Dungeon and mob currency only drop from green/yellow/red level mobs according to your current level.
Why are we trying to fix an obviously broken system when we can just replace it?
