Too many buttons

I just came back to the game after several years off, and OMG this game is terrible to get back to grips with.
Might be ok for people thats been here through all the extra additions but when youve been away for years and suddenly come back to 25+ buttons for your class to be competitive with, yeah its awful and on the verge of unsubbing again.

Can any of you recommend a class that doesnt require 20+ buttons to play? And i dont mean just rotation i mean all the extra abilities and defensives etc. Ive got a ton of macros to combine things and still have 21+ keys to use.

There’s none… BM might have the least buttons, but even there it’s getting annoying.

Just be patient and see if you get used to it after a few days of playing.
If you get back into anything after years, it won’t feel as easy as you think it was back then, even if it’s the same thing.

the fact you think 70 buttons is ok is worrying and why the pop of this game is declining

I think this game is not for you so rather then trying to change the game to be more for you change the game and play something else !

agreed, thanks for the replies good luck in wow

Frost DK is quite playable

At most i think i play with mys… 15 keys(including shift+whatever)

and thats on hunter MM BM/ DH,frost dk

No class has 70 buttons you use as part of an active rotation.

BM Hunter is the most brainless as you’ve already been advised.

Otherwise, perhaps try wow classic, that has the standard 2-3 button rotation you sound like you desire.

read the OP, its not about rotation its about total buttons including bursts, movements, defensives, heals, etc etc
but no, someone already suggested i find a game that doesnt require half my keyboard all my mouse and shift modifiers to play

Paladin Retribution. They literally reworked it for better survivability and less buttons required.

I am literally playing it with 6 keybinded buttons, the rest I do click on occasion.

I know what you mean. I used that Gear Update thing on a priest I’ve barely played (leved a Lightforged for the heritage armour a while back). The Action Bars were cleared and I have no idea what to do with it now. I tried running a Dragon Soul and the bosses were taking 30 seconds to 1 minute to kill with my random buttons. I’ll have to go to Icy Veins before trying him on anything else.

Elemental Shaman I find pretty straight forward but the thing is also knowing which buttons to ignore (do we stil have farsight?).
There are a bunch of abilities that are useful in PVP but I don’t do that so I ignore most of those too.

You could go to Icy Veins and read the Easy Mode section, I’ve done that for some alts.

Destro lock might be what you’re looking for.

Fury warrior, even though it has pretty high APM, does not have that many buttons overall.

I’ve been told that Devastation Evoker does not have many buttons, but as I’ve not tried it I would not comment on that.

Stay away from Monk and Shadow Priest.

But yeah, as time has passed a lot of specs started to suffer from button bloat.

Thank you and the Pala 2 up for an actual helpful response instead of “go play a game with less buttons” or “i do it fine youre bad”.
Will give ret and lock a try before i give it up.

Even though you mention “being competitive” in your original post, do keep in mind that talent choice actually have a huge impact on the number of buttons that end up in your action bars.

For some specs, there are tradeoffs you can make that could significantly reduce the button bloat without impacting the performance too much.

This thread didnt really go as you hoped.

I dislike the buttons I have to use in close/mid range playing Frost in M+.
Maybe it is time to change to melee class.

play which class you like, level a new character to get a grip of which button does what and then you won’t have issues with keys. returning to a whole new talent system with many new spells is overwhelming so start over

OMG i can’t press 1 button like in vanilla!!! The game is too COMPLICATED.

This is pretty much what most of these threads sound like.

Especially because they never make actual examples.

There are a few abilities that could be combined together, and there is a spec specifically that is frankly too complex to play. Which is arcane, that’s the only spec that’s legit too hard.

Aside that a few abilities that could be just integrated into others are like: Haunt into unstable affliction. Dreadblades into adrenaline rush, and only works on sinister strike.

A few others, but if you just say " Too many buttons"… It’s just a bad argument.

Like, many people asked for the re introduction of more abilities, especially when it comes to defensives.

did you read the last part where it says that i have abilities macroed into each other and still have 21+ buttons? thought not. now go look stupid somewhere else you dirty troll.

Also theres a huge difference between 1 ability and 29 abilities which im currently shuffling.

I dont get why they had to go so extreme. After 20 years they should know what a comfortable yet skill gapped amount of buttons is instead of flipping extremes between 5 and 35.
