If youre ebon blade isnt the Quest opening narrative enough to not off yourself? Was under servitude of the LK after awaking, Saw the destruction he reaped on the Scarlets and could do with other living factions, control over you is lost and because you saw it all you stick around to prevent the LK gaining power
Sira did not have this luxury to flail in frustration after waking up, she woke up undead, bittered and free
It doesn’t break existing Lore surrounding either nelves or undead
Only if they’d be the “void” broken of Argus (and that would be their capital).
Please leave the Silver Covenant alone, they’re cool, they give the Alliance some much needed morally grey.
(Something the worgen, then the void elves and now the night elves where apparently going to give to the Alliance :< )
They shouldn’t be the “morally grey” stuff. The entire reason for their split from Quel’thalas was because of their purported moral superiority in that they didn’t want to drain creatures for mana.
To then have them turn around and be baddies is narratively dissonant (as it was during MoP). Bad writing. Just kill 'em off and wipe the slate clean. It’s not like High Elves serve any purpose anymore with VElves around. Alleria’s essentially supplanted Vereesa as the “antagonist Windrunner sister”.

Then again, it’s not like the void elves serve any purpose either.
Nor do the Nightborne, they’re basicly night elf looking blood elves with the same sob story
Their split from Quel’thalas was forced, though, so ofcourse they’d hate the blood elven guts. Sure they disagreed with the sucking of mana from living creatures, but would they really cause a civil war over that?
Maybe, I don’t think so honestly (not after 90% o your people died, and the last 9% decided sucking mana was a good idea).
But alas, they where exiled and this is where they are now, for better or worse.
It’s also why I like the Highvale more, they just abandoned magic all together and didn’t get involved, but that might be because their city (village?) might have existed far longer?
Silver Covenant, not some group of blood elf researchers should have been void elves since the beginning, but instead of them researching Shadow voluntarily, they could simply be attacked by ethereals and transformed. This way, we would be rid of Alliance high elves while also making their dedication to the Alliance more believable than “Lor´themar didn´t want us to corrupt Sunwell, so now we fight against blood elves and Horde!”. And them being now corrupted far more than their mana-sucking brothers could be really interesting for RP.
Instead, we got “new doorways have opened for us” stuff. Yay.

It’s certainly a missed opportunity. But then again, a lot of stuff in BfA is.

Oh, this would’ve been a way better idea.
No, most Nelves would rather die than become undead, because of the lifey Nelf culture. They usually consider undead to be abominations. You can see this in… How Nelf NPCs react to DKs and undead. Kalimdor Nelf RPers tend to be very hostile to DKs as well, Nelf or not.
Coming up with a reason for a Nelf DK to not off themselves as soon as they awake, or at least as soon as they regain control of themselves, is one of the narrative challenges of running a Nelf DK, in my opinion. Of course some people just ignore it, which is… fine, I guess. But I like to use it. Or I liked using it, the one time I made a Nelf DK.
But them dying causes undeath
That said, apparently the night elves do not have that big a problem with undead as Tyrande and Maiev tried to have the undead night elves return to the fold, instead of also trying to murder them.
I mean, I get why people assume night elves in general hate undeath, but so far the hate the night elves have shown against undeath is against scourge and forsaken undeath specifically, I’ve never seen a night elf NPC badmouth an Alliance-aligned undeath.
Schrödinger’s Tyrande. She’s both super hateful and racist, but also inclusive and welcoming until she’s exposed to to the spotlight.

I don’t agree with this writing. Don’t blame the High Elves in general, blame Blizzard and those high elves who turned void elves!
My high elf certainly thinks that idea is dumb and feels sad about void elves, because they could’ve been high elves instead.
Sorry but now you follow Vereesa and she’s totes cool with it. “Hopefully the Blood Elves can be redeemed some day!” /e ignores all void elf activity

More bad writing. High elves should despise the void elves.

Not much the individual High Elves can do other than mourn and try to tolerate the Void Elves, much like the Lightforged have to.
It’s representative of how painful this war is and how much Tyrande and Malfurion have failed their people that there are now Night Elves who are giving into the Forsaken (noting that even Forsaken risen by the Valkyr aren’t mindless drones and have some manner of choice in what they do after being risen). By now I’m starting to think Night Elves would have reason to not off themselves as DKs, their homes have been destroyed, Val’sharah is in tatters, and when it comes down to it most of these situations were only worsened by the fact that their leaders, the two people their entire society look up to, care about themselves more than their own people.
On topic: Yes there are a lot of Void Elves between the people who just want the pretty models, High Elf RPers and people who like Void Elves. I just find it a shame that there was only a brief period of Void Elves being portrayed in RP as they’re portrayed in lore before it all devolved into people playing Void Elves who act just like their Blood Elves did and the whole point of the race taking a back seat.
