Too many Void elf rpers

By “embracing unorthodox tactics” you mean allowing group of his people that are threat to Sunwell to remain as part of their society after they refused to abandon their research which causes this threat?

You are deliberately ignoring what the story said about banishment of Umbric´s followers or about stance of Quel´Thalas regarding Alleria. They are all threat to Sunwell, you know, the thing which feeds elves with magic and is cornerstone of their civilization.

Not just that, but when Arthas defiled the Sunwell with his death magic, every HElf/BElf started to die - which is why Kael’thas had to destroy it. Their link to the Sunwell was killing them because of the death magic.

So if you void corrupted the sunwell, then every single HElf+BElf - across planets, across dimensions - would likewise be void corrupted. And, you know, go insane. Because void magic. An atrocity far worse than Teldrassil, to say the least.

But Lukas is an unbashed Alliance shill who will take every opportunity to :poop: on Horde players and story alike, so…

Come, now.

The Night Elves don’t need “anything”. They are being given a lot of lore progression with Darkshore. They are getting blessed by Elune herself, they are reclaiming their homelands, but, perhaps most importantly, they are returning to some of the WC III roots that drew so many people to the race in the first place.

The entire reanimation act of the Forsaken fits well with the race, and the Night Elves even have the ability to apparently deny or opt out of it.

Beware, SPOILERS

https://www.wowhead.com/quest=54006/a-new-hope

Darkshore belongs to our people once more, in no small part due to your efforts. And, while I disagree with her methods, we would not have succeeded without Tyrande as well. Differences aside, she is our leader–and an incarnation of the Night Warrior herself. She is about to begin. You may stand here beside me.

The Night Elves even manage to reclaim Darkshore and win their warfront.

Quite frankly, I don’t see any Forsaken bias here at all, Scorchbraid.

As for how “nonsensical” it is, I implore you to read back in the thread. You’ll find that there actually are reasons as to why reanimated Night Elves can make good sense.

Not saying I disagree with you, but Tyrande was at that time, not the leader of the Resistence or night elves, so blaming her for the night elven actions in the WotA is like blaming the current nightborne for the actions of Elisande.

That’s outside the fact if she even knew what was happening there? Did she know the people of Suramar where being tortured?

For all she knew they only raised that shield during The Sundering to protect their people, like the Zandalari did.

Hmm, if they saved Tyrande and the world, why did the other elves need to invade their city, though?

I thought Archdruid Hamuul Runetotem was the biggest voice of support for the Forsaken?

Sylvanas Windrunner sent emissaries to various factions in search of allies. The kind-hearted tauren of Thunder Bluff proved to be the most promising contact. Specifically, Archdruid Hamuul Runetotem, striving for diplomacy, saw the potential for redemption in Sylvanas’ people, even though he was fully aware of the Forsaken’s sinister nature. Thus, the tauren convinced Warchief Thrall, despite his misgivings, to forge an alliance of convenience between the Forsaken and the Horde.

I can’t include links, but it’s on the old (and maybe new?) Forsaken race tab in the US wow site.

To be fair, what would the problem be if they just enforced the rule of “Stay away from the Isle of Quel’Danas and practive your magic in the Ghostlands”?

You’re correct. If I remember right, Sylvanas (mentally) comments on it again in Before the Storm as well.

That’s what their exile basically amounted to anyway. It’s not as if they were actively hunted for removal from Ghostlands where they were doing their research for (it’s implied) years. It seems like once they were kicked out of Silvermoon/Eversong they were pretty much left to their own devices.

We have absolutely no reason to think that. I’d argue that Quel’thalas is actually going the other way, Lor’themar isn’t feared by his people, he seems to be well regarded and liked. He also, if you read ‘The Shadow of the Sun’ seems about as far from the type who would run a police state as you can get. That short story gives us a pretty clear insight as to how the dude thinks. We also know he is not afraid to speak his mind against those who -do- run a Police state, as we see in ‘Tides of War’ Garrosh “I am glad to see you at least are loyal to me” “Nah man, we’re loyal to the Horde” “Yeah, but I am the Horde” “Nah mate, you’re just it’s Warchief, its not the same thing” Paraphrasing wildly, but that’s the gist of what was said.

Or damned their people and destroyed them, so soon after clawing themselves back from the Abyss. Remember, Rommath was -Right-, it was dangerous magic they dabbled in, from the notes of the most reviled Elf in Thalassian history, and He was right, It -Did- go wrong. Without an Alleria ex machina the Void Elves would not exist, and who knows what damage could have been done. Lets not forget that. Rommath was right.

Come on, seriously? if people think ‘Who’ when he is mentioned then they clearly must have started playing since WoD, or just be ignorant of lore.

He exiles a small cabal of dabblers into magic that his Magical advisor tells him is really dangerous stuff, and could go badly wrong, and is based on teachings from the most reviled traitor in Thalassian history, and remember, Lor’themar and Dark’han were actually friends before Dark’han’s betrayal, or at least knew each other well. He doesn’t publicly Declaim Alleria until Rommath was proven -right- In fact he is tolerant of Alleria and acknowledges her as a Hero, until her very presence endangers the Sunwell. That plus her new allegiance to the Alliance would be more than sufficient reason to cast her out. Whatever she -was-, she is -not- anymore.

The Void Elves are a cabal, they are on a list, hence they were all Exiled, as such, the sin’dorei will be well aware as to what intelligence they would have had access to. It would be daft to imagine that they have not since went "Right, lets assume the Alliance now know X,Y and Z, so lets change those aspects of security. Whatever, if any, intelligence the Void Elves brought to the Alliance, would now be redundant. I mean that’s the first thing you do, when people go over to the enemy, tighten up security and change the passwords etc etc.

I’d actually say it dilutes the Alliance’s charm in the minds of some people, as they can no longer claim to be purely on the side of ‘Good’ but then bad powers are only bad when the Horde use them I guess. I mean the Alliance is perfectly happy with having Fel Practitioners in its ranks, people who are part Demon, Undead killing machines, and now people infused with the raw power of entropy and destruction.

Uther would be turning in his grave…

But that’s actually OK. The Horde has changed since those times, so it is fine for the Alliance equally to have changed, and taken a darker focus. I’ve been doing a lot of the Alliance Quests and Invasions in my (seemingly) never ending struggle to get Dark irons, and the Alliance is perfectly chill with the Void Elves raising the Dead that were respected by the enemy, and using those powers of Entropy and Destruction to reanimate their corpses and send them against their former friends (Because Void clearly does exactly the same as Death…yup…clearly) To misquote Garrosh “WHat difference is there between you and Sylvanas now?”

We can never say that things make no sense, when they have happened in our own, non-magical world. Enemies becoming Allies, Allies becoming Enemies, these are all things that have happened throughout our Real world history. We can’t say things make no sense in Azeroth, when they have continually happened on Earth.

This stuff kinda confuses me. Does Blizzard now equate Void and Death magic in terms of their uses or is Umbric a necromancer?

It just says something about old rituals IIRC. So I guess void can take the corpses of the dead and inhabit it or something? …But it can also be somehow controlled but is also very dangerous.

Here’s an idea, Umbric. If something’s dangerous - don’t do that. I know, brilliant suggestion, I think I should be the next leader of the void elves.

ED. Figured it’s worth mentioning that Umbric and his followers used to study Dar’Khan Drathir’s notes. He was, of course, a member of the Scourge, so I guess that’s where he could get some necromancy-like abilities?

I think it confuses most of us. Given what the Void is, they shouldn’t be able to do that, no. It doesn’t make lore sense, but given Blizz and their ‘New Toys are better than Old Toys’ syndrome, I would not be surprised.
“Hey everyone! Lightforged Explode when they die!”

Do they, Crap, that is the most ineffective army in the history of forever. I mean all you need is a few snipers, and…that’s the Lightforged and everyone around them dead… I mean that is an atrocious battle plan. You’d want all the Lightforged to be sent ahead, well away from your army, once one is shot, the rest all detonate, so at least they are like a walking Flashbang grenade… I guess…

Ah but the Vindicaar! Yeah, it tickles if it fires from up high, to do any damage it always has to come down into range where it can be hit by artillery and fliers. Its basically a Siege weapon City, sort of like Bilgewater Harbour but more mobile…

Does that now make the Alliance the Scourge 2.0?

Damn you Anduin, Lich King ….

Good points though.

What Umbric does is not quite necromancy while the results are similar. They summon void entities to inhabit vessels that happen to be corpses in this case. Not quite the same as reanimating the bodies or re-attaching a soul to them with dark magic, which is what necromancy does.

The explosion doesn’t damage allies at all but heals them instead. :stuck_out_tongue:

While the Vindicaar’s weapons might not be anything to praise, you have to give some credit to it’s defenses as it was able to shrug off constant bombardment on Argus with none of the Burning Legion’s weapons being able to even scratch it.

Take into account that the heroes of Azeroth were working together to keep it powered up and it was constantly being empowered by various light wielders, not just the Lightforged on their own. I assume it would just be a very tough and moderately powerful space ship now, so it’s great for transporting troops and attacking minor tactical targets, but with half of the people who made it what it was missing, trying to strike anything important with it would probably end in it going up in a plume of golden glitter.

should form an RP community dedicated to hunting down black elves. have them hide their identities with white masks so everyone can join in and not lose standing with their other RP communities

It did require power yes, but nothing suggested that the people present were empowering the ship in any way.

The Grimtotem were exceedingly supportive of bringing the Forsaken in as well.

Generally a sign the indoctrination is working then.

The Light can raise the dead, so it’s only logical the Void can do it as well.

Tyrande does blame all the current Nightborne – even the ones rebelling – for the actions of Elisande though.

After less than a day, they abandoned Suramar to the enemy, aware that nothing would be left to rebuild should the Burning Legion eventually be defeated. Wherever the demons marched, nothing remained but ruin. Even before the last glimpse of the city dwindled in the distance, the defenders could see the massive trees toppling, the walls collapsing under the relentless onslaught.

The previous chapter (there’s a chapter in between depicting Xavius turning Peroth’arn into a satyr before returning back to Suramar POV) establishes that Tyrande was present at the scene.

None of the races in WoW are particularly feminine to be honest, memes/long hair aside. Every race has a jawline you can carve diamonds with and have an athletic build most people devote their lives to crafting for themselves; if not a much more cartoony take on them.
