the poster art for mop with chen is evidence they’re absolute chads. you can see the veins popping on his arms, just a shame it hasn’t translated ingame well. if they were slightly more buff looking, i could dig 'em.
Shaohao is a favourite example of mine.

Those proportions, please.
The whole ‘male elves look girly’ shtick is pretty tired. Blood Elf males only look slim in comparison to the He-Man/Mr. Universe build that Blizzard has given many of the other races. In reality, the model is actually pretty muscular and well-built.
it wouldn’t kill to have, y’know… just average sized/proportioned models in wow. i get it, it’s ‘a high fantasy game’ blah blah blah. so are many other MMO/RPG’s and the races are proprotioned correctly.
`https://wow.gamepedia.com/Chen_Stormstout#/media/File:Chen_Stormstout_monk_alternate.jpg will forever be my favorite pandaren artwork. they really need to be less kung-fu panda chubby/bouncy and more heavy-lifter build.
Like girls on instagram
I think it’s fine to have them be very round, it’s likely their natural shape biologically, but their leg to torso ratio ingame is just unforgivable.
I used to think they were cute/funny when they first came out, but now I just want something that looks serious.
I get that. Maybe the Kul tirans will sate that desire; round but muscular. Their dances could do with a refresh, too… Less 2010 internet meme and something more appropriate/traditional.
Kul Tirans don’t look awful but I am super invested in pandaren lore now and humans just don’t feel as interesting.
I bet most of the people who call the Blood Elf male model ‘Girly’ would actually kill to have that physique, you know, one like Bruce Lee, or an MMA Cage fighter, or Olympic Athlete.
‘Girly’ my backside, go challenge someone with that build to a fight, they would hand you your backside in seconds flat. Whilst you are gasping on the floor, then look up at them and say “You look like a girl” I dare you.
Actually, I don’t, that could result in actual physical harm as they snap you in half or punch through the flab, Best you don’t.
Better than the human model “I can’t do my armour up?” “Why, is it difficult to reach?” “No, my outsized wrists means my armour is biologically impossible to equip, I need a Squire to do it for me” “But we all have biologically impossible bodies?” “Hmm, Good point, lets go to Kul Tiras, they have people who actually could biologically function there” “I thought we wanted their Navy?” “No, I just want someone who looks human who could actually do my armour up”" “But, But, Lady Jaina looks fairly human, and she is from Kul Tiras!” “Yes…weird that, isn’t it…almost like…she was a fan favourite”
Lets be fair, the Human model is not human. It is a bizarre self insert of ‘He-Man’ that couldn’t actually function… Its like one of those ‘roid beasts’ that you see in Gyms. Massive muscles, stupid definition, tiny winky. (Blizzard is afraid of the word for the male regenerative organ)
Don’t even get me started on the Kul Tiras models, they may as well be a different Species than human, in both cases.
I’m going to respectfully disagree here. I like most of the Darkshore content, but I the way they had to shoehorn that Sira and Delaryn crap in just taints the whole Night Warrior story in retrospective for me.
Everything else I love, but that just ruins the whole experience for me.
anatomically impossible*
“This doesnt seem physically possible!”
Downvote.
Delaryn’s build-up was intentionally designed for the purpose of the inevitable loss of hope in the face of such a devastating loss inflicted by Sylvanas. By Blizzard’s standards, I think it was pretty well done, especially when you include Elegy.
It’s also been stated on numerous occasions how being raised corrupts a person’s emotions and outlook.
But then again, you do have a bit of a track record for crying over the poor Night Elves having a hard time (ignoring that hardship makes for a compelling narrative), so I’ll also take the rest of your post with a pinch of salt.
hardship makes for a compelling narrative
I hadn’t noticed, distracted as I am by literally 100% of my nelf friend network unsubbing or rerolling to other races. Hm…
I made two night elves because of 8.1. I really like the Night Warrior story and I think it has a lot of potential for cool RP if one is willing to go along with it instead of protesting at every step over how Blizzard is ruining [race I currently play].
I’m not entirely sure who your friends are, but my ‘nelf friend network’ (which includes myself) are really enjoying the new direction of Night Elf lore.
Blizzard’s writing is often sloppy and poorly-handled, but it does provide a really great backdrop for RP and the current narrative for the Night Elves is going in a fun direction.
He said it made for a compelling story, not one that entertains self entitled babies that dislike loosing.
I just fail to see the appeal in playing a race that’s been made a punching bag or a joke consistently since vanilla, I suppose. The current racial leaders were turned into memes in Legion and the only interesting nelf characters that were introduced were killed in the very same patch that introduced them. And then they joined Horde in a manner that yet again screwed with the consistency of how necromancy or elf spirits work.
It’s beyond a joke, really, to the point where I can’t even take the lore seriously anymore, and neither can anyone I know. RPing a Nelf now feels incredibly difficult, frankly. Kind of like RPing a Gnome, but more of a joke race.
You play a Gnome?
Nelves aren’t a joke race, they are worse than that, they are a trash race.
And no, just because your race lost its house doesn’t make it feel like you’re playing a gnome, since you actually get development, unlike gnomes.
So, now that these losses have built-up to the point where Night Elves are prepared to start kicking names and taking a s s, you’re calling it quits? That doesn’t make a huge amount of sense to me admittedly.
There were problems with Malfurion’s writing in Legion (Tyrande’s, especially when fighting Ysera, was better than I expected), but they’ve gone a long way to improve that with BfA. Night Elves feel dangerous again.
Honestly, this kind of petulance just feels so counterproductive. I have never enjoyed Night Elves as much as I have in BfA, because of the direction the story has taken for them.
It’s a shame you no longer enjoy it, but they’ve by no means become a ‘joke race’.
