Top 5 Worst Types of People to RP with?

I imagine that when in-character racism starts using suspiciously similar phrasing to modern real-world racism is when people start to get prickly…

again, I repeat. Nothing wrong with IC racism. My char dislike velfs and pandas as well and all the horde related races. I was clearly talking about people who force the lore around them because “being racist ic is so cool” and do not accept any kind of criticism ooc

Or humans being racist towards other humans. Which in-lore… pretty much doesn’t exist as far as I know.

There’s ways of depicting discrimination within the context of the setting that are immersive and appropriate. There’s also ways of going about it that are just weird references, and are clearly just instances of real life discrimination transported into a setting where they don’t fit.

“Slay the green-skinned monsters who have brought nothing but war to our world” is one thing.
“Despite making up only 13% of the Horde, Forsaken are responsible for 52% of war crimes” is another.

I even remember a IC noticeboard thread from the old forums, in which someone reworded a commentary on the real life refugee crisis to be about night elven refugees from the Burning of Teldrassil instead. I’ve tried to find it but I’ll be honest, those forums are a mess to navigate.

Big Yikes on that one.

I knew as soon as I saw “Night Elf Refugees” on the PTR that a certain group of people would have an absolute field day. Sure enough I saw a lot of commentary way too close to real world refugee topics to be a coincidence.

Edit:

Actually ABORT JOKE. It wasn’t funny, it just made me annoyed.

The thing with the IC racism is that the legitimate angle (alliance hate horde and VV) is not nearly as emphasised in such a way as the (alliance mostly) intra factional racism.

Humans in WoW lore are pretty much written as the guys who try to band other races together (alliance of lordaeron anyone) and yet most of this stuff comes from humans.

It then takes on that angle of “well our leaders are doofuses and don’t see the truth” and whilst I can entertain the notion some of this would exist, at points it gets uncomfortably close to sections of the Internet that parrot precisely the same rhetoric regarding today’s political scene.

I mean I don’t even know why people are racist towards pandaren. Whenever I’ve challenged someone IC on it their reason has always been weak as heck. Essentially boiling down to “you’re a foreigner innit” type of rhetoric.

I might understand it if pandaren were super common on either faction so as it Stoke a fear that we’re taking jobs and replacing them with miraculously more efficient methods which results in storm wind laborers being out of jobs… But pandaren just aren’t numerous enough to do this, and admittedly their work ethic is kinda relaxed. I just can’t fathom a realistic reason for discriminating against them that isn’t the sentiment based “hate on sight” type stuff.

Aren’t you getting ahead of yourself, now? They’ve only been wiped out two or three times.

My custom WC3 campaign is going to be dedicated to finishing the job.

Speaking for my character PoV… She don’t trust them. She fears some pandaren could just jump between horde and alliance. She of course have not problem fighting among them, she just don’t trust them at all. Purely ICly ofc

Humans in Lore: Unifying force in the greatest battles against the Great Enemy, rallying the Alliance of Lordaeron and later, the Orc-Human-Kaldorei alliance for Hyjal.

Humans in Game: Racial “Diplomacy” to gain more reputation with all factions.

Humans in RP: OI KNIFE-EARS, GO BACK TO YER TREEEEE YA F—EN C–TS!!

High Elves are an idea! You cannot kill an idea!

gArItHoS wAs rAcIsT!! (ignoring that he was an exception to the norm and his prejudice was actually justified, he was also disliked by the human kingdoms)

Risen Garithos for new Leader of the Forsaken when???

Dalaran supported him pretty hard.

Maybe one day they’ll confirm what Rhonin+Vereesa were up to while Garithos was trying to execute Kael.

Where its born out of ignorance I can get. That’s like the only reason I do get.

I mean we have examples of humans, dwarves, gnomes, night elfs, draenei and worgen serving dark forces and “betraying their kin”, but to use that as a basis to question their integrity for those that have sworn fealty to the alliance would seem bizarre.
Yet for Pandaren that some serve an opposing force is grounds to do exactly that. Seems a bit wierd to me. Due to the rarity of horde pandaren I’d wager the average alliance player fights far more “evil” humans and dwarves in their adventuring days than wicked pandaren. Seems odd to mistrust pandas more than those two if the reason for suspicion is their racial loyalty.

I mean people can do what they like. I just find most reasons are incoherent and for some reason pandaren are treated in a way that other races are not as I’ve exampled above.

Garithos was basically the only Alliance military presence in the area - ‘support a racist’ vs ‘everyone dies’ is a choice of damnnations
