I don’t care about FFIV though or any other MMO than WoW.
For WoW, it does have potential and can be something revolutionary as WoW never had a progression route like this.
Your reason being?

Your reason being?
Do you disagree that people play for cosmetics and achievements?
But i have a question:
What is your reason to dont want equip like reward when you finish Torghast?
I dont see the negative part of this.
“But, if there is a nice reward, Blizzard obliges me to go”
I never understand this answer. Nobody obliges you to do a content.
At the moment we have:
I don’t mind if it awards gear, I was simply rebutting the point that gear is the only thing that would make people playing it.
People play for all different kinds of things, for example I play M+ for fun.
But if I love M+ and only want to play M+ but I can’t do M+ without doing raids and PvP and I can’t progress in M+ without doing non M+ stuff what should I do?
Oh, then you’re right in this context, people would still play it even if it didn’t reward anythnig, but adding something that would make it appealing and let us focus on it without having to resort to other stuff would make it more appealing.
Proof of this is proving grounds, how many people went besides round 30 ? even though it didn’t give any kind of rewards.
Sorry, but I can’t see how this has to do anything with my post. Do you mean that you need to get gear from Torghast to progress in m+?
I agree, cosmetics and achievements are always nice to have, but once you have these, plus the legendary recipe and mats you need, I can see Torghast becoming obsolete as in few players will bother with it again after obtaining what they need.
For a Mythic+ you don’t need a currency to run one (other than a key that is rewarded from chest or first Mythic you run). The point is to keep running and upgrading your keys (not assuming here that none are depleted).
I just personally would have liked them to do something similar with Torghast, it could have been expanded on and in doing so give another end game option
Umm… we’re at the end of patch, people are geared to 475+ with bis corruptions - they obviously don’t go M+20 for gear
It means that if I like Torghast, and I am only interested in Torghast and don’t want to play anything else other than Torghast, but Torghast doesn’t award gear then I can’t play the game like I want to.
Just like PvP players are complaining about being forced to PVE.
Just like M+ players are complaining about being forced to raid for BiS azerite.
Just like Raid players are complaining about being forced to M+ for gear advantage and weekly chest.
But in these cases these still award gear, can you think of M+ if M+ didn’t award gear or PvP if PVP didn’t award gear.
True, but what is the % of players that can do a +20?
Anyway, there is always an exception to everything. We have to have a global vision.
If torgasht give you the better item to reach 100º floor, sure there will be players that keep going up.
It’s the case for many things currently. I just don’t get the notion of “slap some reward on it and it will be fun”.
I wouldn’t even really mind gear rewards for torghast too much. But the gamemode has to be fun to begin with. If the gamemode isn’t fun enough for me to play it without a reward, it will feel even worse with a reward.
Ok, I see your point.
This was my point aswell. Feel free to give gear rewards from torghast. If its boring crap then ppl will do it until they dont need gear anymore (like warfronts), if ppl find it fun and challenging they will keep doing it even when they cant get more rewards from it (like m+ is for me).
I think you misunderstood me, I am agreeing with you in a sense, a game mode you don’t enjoy is to me a punishment, I don’t like it I don’t want to do it, but it rewards gear so I feel I have to do it.
What I was saying is similar to how Mythic+ is an end game activity that some people love, why not enhance a system for Torghast to make this another option for end game and gearing
Here’s my proposition for Torghast loot:
Make a weekly or daily seeded run. So every player of the same class gets the same layout and the same drops. Let the players try as often as they want and make the highest score count for the reward.
Currently Torghast is completly random, so every run will be different. While this is fun, it would feel pretty horrible when it comes to loot. If you get lucky with the layout and drops you’ll get good loot. If you get unlucky you may have to retry over and over again until you get a good layout. This could even lead to players purposefully dying to restart the run until they get a lucky start.
Don’t get me wrong the random layout of Torghast on every run is good. It adds a lot of replayability and makes things fun. I just don’t think there should be loot tied to this default mode, because these runs could vary so much in difficulty.
I did a post on beta forum, but nobody see that. I said this for great vault objetives:
New Raid: 3 bosses - 7 bosses - 10 bosses
Mythic: 1 mythic - 5 mythic - 15 mythic
PvP: 100 conquest - 150 conquest - 250 conquest
And why not add:
Torghast: reaches 50º floor - reaches 75º floor - reaches 100º floor
Oh yeah, I understand what you mean and I agree. Making it an option for gearing is fine.
I was mainly referring to OPs point of “people will not bother with the mode, if there is no reward”. If no one likes it and there’s loot attached to it, I feel it could become Visions 2.0 where people do it over and over, but hate it.
I actually liked the visions, don’t judge me I hated what I needed to grind to do a vision but that’s a separate issue.
I personally was hoping that Torghast would give us a new end game, levels of difficulty (similar to a mythic+ key starting at +2 and increasing) but something that could be done solo.
I know not all will agree with me, including Blizzard it seems as they didn’t make it so, but yes for me it’s a disappointment if just cosmetic rewards
That entirely depends on the difficulty of obtaining them. For example I’d still want to be able to run Mage Tower(just for the fun of it)
I actually liked them aswell at the start. The first 5 mask run felt amazing. But they just don’t offer enough replayability. I assume the randomness in Torghast will make it more replayable, so I could see that being fun.
I definetly hope so. I would love there to be class specific leaderboards actually. There can be done so much with the roguelite concept I just hope Blizzard sees the chance in this and invests the extra time to properly make Torghast a thing, instead of just a vision 2.0.
As i mentioned in an earlier reply I would love to see a sort of daily or weekly changing challenge mode (same layout, drops, etc. for everyone). A lot of other roguelite games have something similar. The randomness in these games makes it hard to compare your run to the one of someone else, since you can get really lucky and breeze through or just get unlucky and have the hardest time of your life completing any floor. A challenge / seeded mode would allow the runs to be comparable, since it just comes down to decision making and skill, while also keeping the core concepts of the mode.
While I’m not opposed to gear rewards either, I think cosmetic rewards have the advatage of being basically infinitely scalable.
With gear reward you’d have to stop at some point and say “this is the best gear” any floor beyond this can’t reward anything better. Cosmetics on the otherhand could even be awarded on some really crazy difficulty and still feel rewarding, a thing capped ilvl gear just couldn’t do.
Not every player will agree with me on this, since there a lot of collectors and a lot of people feeling they just have to get every possible reward, but I think cosmetic rewards for some crazy difficult achievement would be cool.
Blizzard probably disagrees with me on that aswell, since m+ rewards (both gear and cosmetics) are capped at +15.
