I know a lot of WoW Players who also play FF and vice versa. You seem kind of hostile. Fortunately most FF players I know are not hostile. I also don’t have a problem with WoW players in general. PuGs can be very unkind experiences, others can be fun. It is after all, a bunch of randoms.
Most people don’t exclusively play one game either. Many dabble with several games, some will exclusively play one game or favour one heavily.
Peoples experiences vary tbh. I started in TBC and the player base was the most toxic elitist unhelpful bunch of ‘word I can’t use on the forums’. They almost made me quit the game all together. Instead I just quit group content. I went and soloed dungeons when I outlevelled them. Years later LFD was introduced and I loved that. I actually got to do dungeons at the right levels and see the content as it was meant to be.
So personally I don’t think the playerbase has changed. There will always be horrible and nice people everywhere.
I know it maybe sounds unhelpful or harsh, but… get yourself into a guild and do your dungeon runs with guildies. While there is of course rude morons in guilds too, they’re less likely to act up in a guild run than when in LFG. People are more easily obnoxious towards others they’ll probably never see again than people they see in /g every day.
1 thing i see to fight this is hen you inspect people you can “judge” people like if they are friendly or they are toxic. When people tag they see that indicator of toxicity/friendly. or when doing queue they try to match up with friendly people themself and toxic themself. This is account wide and only reset every years in case people changed ( with indicator of last score in the last years).
thats why a commendation score would work, you commend people who have been nice, helpful or pleasent, but no down voting as ya toxics would misuse that.
I am sorry to tell you this, but it seems most of your problems came from not being able to keep up with the tanks, I assume leveling dungeons.
Short answer: play as a DPS.
Long answer:
My opinion, subjected to discussing.
Most of the tanks you will find are probably DPS players, they are not usually the best tank players as they tend to tunnel vision and be very impatient.
Mithic + hasn’t helped, as now everyone apparently expects you to perform according.
Forget about Mana breaks, none will wait for you.
I tend to start drinking for a couple of seconds when I know the group is killing trash.
If not, than tough luck, no Mana, no heals we die and it’s not my fault.
Avoid long sentences as people prefer short sentences.
(Yes the community grew a bit more unsociable this days.)
Example:
We were in a WoTLK dungeon, when the command for dismount of my Drake vanished.
Me: I can’t dismount.
Tanks: Start healing.
Me: I can’t heal if I can’t dismount.
End of story.
Also leave the group if you can’t keep up.
I was in TW Cataclysm a week ago, when the tank died twice while trying to pull trash. It was in the time walking dragon scenario where you face Baine, Jaina and Tyrande.
I just wrote:
“Sorry. Can’t keep up.”
Healed the group and left for them to find a better healer.
