Toxic experience in RDF for new players

Why is most toxic people playing Classic like it was some kind of world record speed run attempt. It feels like their PTSD is triggered as soon as the dungeon loading screen shows up.

There is almost no room for new players.
Getting into tanking/healing as a totally fresh player is close to impossible.

You would have to be extremely patient, hard skinned and a very quick learner, otherwise you turn ur back on this game, and don’t look back. Or new players end up questing to 80, then ends the journey there, because they have bad experiences with dungeons (RDF).

It somewhat feels like classic but with a big twist of League Of Legends.

I apologize on the behalf of my country (Denmark). Nordic players has infested toxicity into LoL and many other games like no other country, and now Classic WoW too, its sad.

No one is impressed by your 7/12 HC iCC or 2k 2v2 Rating, which some of yall feel the need to throw out in dungeons, when you start arguing with a player that has less than 1 month of experience, compared to your 5, 10 or 15 years.

So don’t show up to a SFK dungeon with an attitude towards the new player, because they got low dps, struggle to buff correctly (Paladins) or heal/tank or whatever.

You either be nice to people and have patience, trying to teach them in a respectable way, or logout and play League Of Legends

I just have to disagree.

Yeah there is many elitist jerks, whom are the best of our kind and can do everything perfect…

But there is a HUGE room for new players.
The only thing they have to do, is to find a guild.
They can learn from guildies without blaming for anything.

Its MMORPG, its social game, so if new players won’t make some friends and learn, its theire decision. Its like in real life, not every stranger on the street is a friendly human being.

It is pretty simple. The older the game gets, the more information there is online, the bigger our servers become and the more automated systems allow crossrealm group forming with less effort the less social interaction and teaching of new player happen.

Just Nordics being themselves: entitled pricks who think they are better than everyone and if you don’t do things like them you are not doing things right.

The thing is, people choose option 3 instead, that is to kick said new player immediately and get another one. If the new player is a dps the threshold before people kick is really low.

I personally blame blizzard for making Gamma dungeons actually be somewhat uncomfortable if your people don’t know what they’re doing.

Back in Original Wotlk, it wasn’t like that. People were queuing base random hcs for emblems of frost, not +200% hp/damage gamma with extra mechanics. So new players didn’t really register because everything in random hcs falls over instantly.

And that’s how it should’ve been, but WoW devs lost touch with what it takes to get in new players LONG ago.

I mean, what ELSE did you expect from RDF?

when RDF came out most of dungs just feels like playing with bots. In most cases noone will replay to your “hello”, just rush forward. It seems players dont read chat anymore (not always there are still social friendly runs). And worst are high geaered ppl who thinks that if you got lower gs you are just noone. I had a run with a high gs guy when i just hitted 80, i told him that he is doing something wrong (he didnt care about mechanics and we wpied few times). In response i heard that “i wont listen to below 5k gs dog” xD.

And what happened when cataclysm launched with heroic dungeons that was not a complete walkover like wrath ones?
People was not capable of completing them because they had never experienced content that required players to actually use the abilities that was in their spellbooks.

At no point in time, was the average player so horrible at playing the game, as it was during late wotlk and early cataclysm, simply because the year of RDF had introduced a new generation of players that did not have to learn to play their classes at the basic level.

Then a lot of players just left the game. some did because the game was too hard for them, and others left because blizzard catered to a bunch of crybabies that did not WANT to learn the basics of the game, and that was not the kind of game they wanted to play.

And none of this would have happened if they had stuck to the WotLK formula instead - i.e. letting raids be the hard content, and let content that’s supposed to be done with randoms be easy.

And yet those same players were clearing ICC and Halion raids, arguably hardest content in wow to that date.
The problem, or rather fiasco, with Cata heroic dungeons is that people went in after clearing heroics tuned to be done in blue leveling gear in icc level gear. Cata heroics weren’t all that harder than TBC or even Wrath ones when done in an appropriate (blue and several levels below max) gear. They were also somewhat overtuned for that level, definitely on some bosses and packs. I recall the phoenix boss in particular being basically impossible with some healing classes. Much like Blood Furnace, Mana Tombs or Arcatraz were basically impossible with blue tank and healer in TBC.
I personally cleared LK25HC (with the buff, but it’s no joke even then) and still struggled heavily in the Cata heroics, for first two weeks or so, basically untill I got full epic crafted/raid gear.

Are you sure that dungeons were intended to do with complete randoms without thinking about comp at all? a group with a druid tank a warlock 2 hunters and a priest would have had a hard time with most dungeons that needed any type of interrupt on bosses from vanilla up until wrath without being ether over leveled or over geared for it. Dungeons are meant to indeed be a steeping stone into raiding but clearly there was a intent that you would want to bring a few things for dungeons.

5-mans arent’t automatically supposed to be easy.

5-mans arent’t automatically supposed to be done by PUGs only.

Raids arent’t automatically supposed to be hard (all 10 man’s across wotlk).

Gamma dungeons arent for fresh 80s or “new players”. But people kinda cheat themselve into RDF for those cause “give free gear plzz”.

Gamma dungeons aren’t that hard at all. TBC heroics have benn way harder.

In fact, Beta and Gamma are already the nerfed version of Alpha. Alpha had new mechanics which where Just punishing, Beta added “positive Return” to those and Gamma is Just stupid upscaling of Betas with an additional Buff to Offset that scaling right away (so yes, Gamma is a completely pointless difficulty).

In TBC no one cared about a mispull or a wipe in a heroics dungeon. But WotLK was “easy mode” back then and now all those players are “coming back” expecting easy mode again.

At least we finally got proven that WotLk initiated WoWs downfall. The discussions on this forum are VERY similar to those in retail forums.

Alpha/Beta/Gamma just proved that blizzard most likely won’t be able to drag Classic+ in the right direction. It’s not to sound negative, but to be realistic.

The idea folks at blizzard are not satisfied with how Alpha/Beta/Gamma turned out, no one would be proud to have an actual job/interest, and then come up with this result. You could take 100 people from the forum, give them 15 minutes and over 50 of the results would beat Alpha/Beta/Gamma out of the ballpark.

Problem that shines too well through is that classic and classic+ when announced, is limited by time/money as it is a sideproject. Jaw dropping ideas for Vanilla/TBC/WoTLK has been pitched behind closed doors, but will never see the light because of that, its obvious and sad.

Was wondering when similar post gonna show up.
First of all Gama difficulty isnt for low geared fresh leveled chars. And those fresh new players … even if i told them what to do they ignore advices because they wanna play how they feel it and its just a game think … ( i wanna be Blood DK DPS think… ) So those player are griefing me with they playstyle ( slowing me dow)… I am playing few hours a day and want to be efficient in those runs… and yes when this WOKE ppl wipe at first pack of mobs its faster to leave and wait 30 min then teach those new gamers thinks that are not new. I am not here to help them or teach them … I just want my run to be quick and not waste of time. So i didnt get this post … What am i suppose to revard them for not checking infromations about dungeon/raid where they going ? Thats not how world (of warcraft) works …

Cataclysm will be ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE experience with the LFD added. Why do they keep repeating same mistakes? Why people keep asking for it, when it does not work?

Why do people keep buying mac books? Same reason really and a reason Blizzard actually said “You think you do but you dont” in this case want to water the game down to a lobby game

You don’t have to use it. Make your own group.

If only Blizzard would have broken the nice tool they made to make it easier to make a group…

And if only people didnt usually chose the path of least resistance…

Yeah some gamers need to lay of the monster drinks. But I think this game is a massive part of their lives.

I can imagine these people going mental IRL , punching their pikachu toy in the face in a fit of rage. I would not be surprised if their are abusive gamers who take it out on their partners when getting upset playing a cartoon game, like football fan who is a domestic abuser when his team losses.
