Easiest way to do that, is not coming to the place where I play.
Thereâs an Uruk Hai spawning-pit scene in Two Towers. I envision it being similar.
And yet here they are. Whatâs done is done. Wouldnt it be better to make them feel more welcome, so that we deter more griefers rather than return hostility with hostility - and encourage more griefing?
Yeah, thatâs quite self-centered and selfish though.
Then they should not have come to a roleplaying server. Itâs that simple.
Oh why did you give me that disguesting image⌠damn you.
So did the other RP realms. Look at them now.
You shouldnât go over the board, for sure. But saying, âhey, thatâs not cool, perhaps you should consider a realm suited for your needsâ I donât think is too much, even if indeed, people can get a bit heated in an argument, especially when dealing with people acting in bad faith.
Not saying youâre wrong, but also I think RPers are tired of being pushovers.
Nah, they have all the rights to be here. If you harass them, you are to blame.
Itâs also selfish to invade someone elseâs space.
Itâs also selfish to return fire. Perhaps the griefers would gradually go away if you stopped adding wood to their fire?
Not always. Depends on the circumstances, sometimes sharing a space is an inevitable part of life, especially when you donât own it: do I have to remind you that the server is not your space?
We come from the depths you call forum drama, spawned by half thoughts and black and white thinking. The world alot of people live in where if youâre against us, youâre bad, if youâre with us, youâre good.
There are a plethora of halfthought ideas posted on the forum, where nobody thinks to complete their thought and only bring the conclusion that âthis is bad and can never be goodâ instead of thinking things through for once.
Every single aspect of the game, the community and the people here have more neuances than being overtly bad or overtly good. And as long as the people who havent completed the thought process before posting continues to do so, there will be people to call them out on their blabber.
We have a threat on the forum about making the server a better place, a sentiment i can get behind. But what we need is for servergoers to learn to argue in good faith, share information to enlighten and teach and share views rather than once again use adhominem or strawmen as vague attempts as making themself seem like they are right. Its the sharpiro school of debate, and while it can appear cool for a brief moment in time it does absolutely nothing to reach a conclusion, and just furthers a divide within the people reading or listening.
Iâve never seen someone actually monologue on the forums before, and itâs as cringe as I imagined it would be
Itâs for roleplayers, which kinda does, despite not actually owning it. Why oocers have to come to AD, a server which was never meant for them, is beyond me.
What are you quarrels? I think itâs fairly obvious that that resentment is at least part of your reason for spending your wednesday afternoon having this banal argument over the forums
Well, I donât know about that
True on both counts, sure
I think what you and many people (including Zaphius, god bless him) donât really get about the various OOCers bad arguments is that it isnât really about the individual OOC player but more about the company running the game offering below what many players consider the bare minimum for the RP community. There are RP realms that have died entirely on the basis of sustained griefing (ie. Sporeggar, Defias Brotherhood) and others where the amount of RPers left is so low that casual RP as an activity has died entirely. Argent Dawn is the last place on EU for this
If you think anyone posting here genuinely believes that Blizzard will teleport in and use the Gmod physics gun to slowly pick up everyone who hasnât roleplayed in the last 5 seconds I think theyâre living in a dream world / donât get it at all - the point is for Blizzard to think âdamn, these people are mad / rabbling loads - maybe we should make sure that this last RP server doesnât drop like the restâ
I am telling you that from my PoV if griefing / OOC yell spam etc etc was very heavily punished rather than basically a freebie nobody would be posting anything at all because it would be a non-issue
Exactly
Because I want to play on Argent Dawn EU rather than [wasteland former RP server #6 PVE]
I think you are being kind of overdramatic with these allusions (even moreso above - kind of an offensive comparison)
A dude saying âthis server is not a good place for guilds that donât want to foster RPers in their community / donât want to respect the rules & naming conventionsâ really isnât the witch burning you think it is and 100% of the time if (for example) some raid guild says âour guild isnât RP focused but we have RPers in our group and we will come down hard on griefingâ the response has been âwow thats epic bro good luckâ
I think youâre absolutely capping because you can see this happen if you stand in Stormwind Cathedral on any given day for the evening
Maybe youâre the chosen one or maybe you RP in more obscure areas but I think itâs kind of lame to say âthis never happens because it hasnât to me recentlyâ
Well, even if that is your opinion as an RP community Argent Dawn EU is the designated place for the PCU to be bad (and if someone in the PCU is griefing you I will sanction them much faster than a Blizzard GM might, at least)
Yeah, it is. So what? Is it really so crazy to think that people are more interested in their specific hobby over people who have shown them very little good will
im permabanned poster Blazzerr-aggramar. i first started reading the AD forums when i was about 12. by 14 i got really obsessed with the concept of âOOCâ and tried to channel it constantly, until my thought process got really bizarre and i would repeat things like âPCUâ and âbdrpâ in my head for hours, and i would get really paranoid, start seeing things in the corners of my eyes etc, basically prodromal schizophrenia. im now on antipsychotics. i always wondered what the kind of âOOCâ style of AD forum humor was all about; i think itâs the unconscious leaking in to the conscious, what jungian theory considered to be the cause of schizophrenic and schizotypal syptoms. i would advise all people who âgetâ the AD forum to be careful because that likely means you have a predisposition to a mental illness. peace.
The Shaâtar died because of RP drama, not OOCers.
I definitely understand why people who are griefed feel tired of being pushovers, because there is little to nothing that they can actively do to make the situation go away.
But because a certain part of the population is griefing doesnt mean that any and all people who play on the realm and doesnt participate in RP are bad, griefers are bad and should get out, people who mind their own business and play the game they want to while making space are absolutely fine.
Itâs also for roleplayers. It has never been intended to be solely for them, and definitely roleplayers donât own the server.
This idea that RP realms got killed because of OOCers has been debunked a dozen of times now. Why you keep bringing it up?
Sure, as soon as you make sure that no OOCer ever griefs a roleplaying event ever again.
Until then I say.
OOCers
They call it selfish that oocers come to Argent Dawn-EU, but itâs also selfish to want them gone. Selfish shouldnt be used as an argument, in my view. And as for my quarrals, itâs just some nitpicking on my end. Example, in HoC ( idk if it still is this way ) but if you went AFK and your character sat down because you were away for more than 5 min you were looked down upon, you had screenshots posted of your character and people took a laugh for your being dummydum instead of, perhaps, taking into consideration that something pulled you away from the computer and you didnt really have time to move your dummy character out of eyesight.
I also have my reservations about PCU often âcircle-jerkingâ other PCU posts on the forums but thatâs just my personal prejudice on the matter.
