As the poll say i wonder if i can trade gold between my ally and horde character over the BB/ Tanaris ah? I remember it worked back in the day.

That has never worked if you only have one warcraft account, you need two to do it. All you can do is put something on the neutral AH and give the gold to someone else to buy it if you don’t, you cannot buy your own auctions on one warcraft account.
Make sure you trust them 100% and the neutral AH takes a big cut.

but what if i have a horde on firemaw and ally on another etc?
AHs are not cross realm in Era.
As long as one account - You can not.
